⋆˚࿔ What position are you applying for (Maiden or Priest)?
I am applying for priest since my character is a male!
⋆˚࿔ What is your motivation for applying?
I do enjoy roleplaying a lot, since i have been roleplaying in all sorts of games like FiveM or Minecraft. I always look forward to join and roleplay in different factions or groups, as well as learn further about the things i might be lacking. I believe joining this faction will help me grow as a role player while engaging in roleplay with other players, doing my best to fulfill the role i have been put into!
I want to become part of the Shrine Faction, specifically a priest to engage in more immersive roleplay with other players! I want to experience and grow my roleplay interactions, making my time in SRP more pleasurable to both myself and other players. I have been taken a liking to mythologies and religions since i was a kid, growing in Cyprus, a multi-religion country with a lot of Myths, made me want to learn more about them. I mainly read Greek Mythologies, but am also educated it Norse, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and others i do not want to make a long list of. I love reading, learning more and experiencing these things, a habit of some sort left to me since i was a kid.
If i become a priest, i will do everything i must, including reading more about Shintoism to learn further into the belief. I have taken a liking to it ever since i read a small part of its origin, so i probably already know more than i specified below!
⋆˚࿔ What do you currently know about Shintoism? Are you willing to learn more about it?
I know a some about Shintoism, but i also have knowledge in various tales and myths of other mythologies and religions! I am looking forward to learn and experience more about it with time, since i believe i am a fast learner and i enjoy things similar to it! I will write a little about what i know:
Its a unique belief made around the spiritual beings and nature, mainly revolving around Japanese culture. It goes as 'Way of The Gods' in some readings. It does not have any founder nor any written holy text that descended. It highly relies on Kami, Worshipping, Shrines and Purity. It is similar to Buddhism in many ways, relying on old beliefs and traditions rather than formal belief systems and religions. It is highly flexible, focusing on making peace with nature and purification along with forces and beauty of the nature. Some important things to Shintoism are:
Shinto is more of a way of life in the Japanese value system rather than an organized religion with strict rules, influencing daily habits and cultural identity.
For SRP specifically, we have a mountain shrine called Shinsei Seinaru Monastery. Mountain shrines are common in Shintoism due to the being associated with nature. This specific Monastery was buily by Buddhist monks! It is quite big compared to the other mountain shrines, and is one of the oldest buildings in Karakura. It has been destroyed and built many times across its rich history, before it was rebuilt for the last time in 1617!
Kami
Kami are the spiritual beings and sacred presences that radiate strong spiritual energy. They are not gods, and they might vary from nature to a place. The variety is richer rather than a broad and specific thing.
Purification Rituals (Misogi)
It is a ritual of purification, revolving around washing the body, traditions telling often under a waterfall. It is done to cleanse the person of any spiritual impurities. The purification practice performed by priests are called Harae. It often uses prayers and tools to purify people, object or a specific space of negative enregy.
Offerings
Shinsen are offerings made of rice, vegetables and all sorts of food. It is mainly used to show gratitude to people and nature. It is highly believed that it is a good way to protect the harmony with nature, keeping the balance.
Omikuji
Omikuji are fortune slips. They are offered to visitors to draw randomly, which contains valuable information about their life. Most believe that Omikuji are a way to show guidance and luck on different aspects of life.
Kannushi and Miko
The role of Priests and Maidens in Shinto shrines are rather unique. They hold mostly ceremonial and community roles, yet some believe they also possess spiritual connecting to the kami more than others! They help perform purification rituals like Gohei or water rituals. They are experiences in symbolic gestures as well. Their job along with guidance extends to the Shrine care. Priests and Maidens are expected to clean and maintain the buildings along with the altars. They should ensure rituals and offerings are done the right way, and guide the visitors to do so. Everything to do with the Shrine has to be taken care of them full on through. Along with their responsibilities, they are expected to sell charms, luck or similar with the guests to maintain the finance for running the shrine.
One of their major roles in in the events and festivals. Honoring the Kami, leading the ceremonies and blessing the community are their job. They should dedicate their lives to maintaining the truth and traditional ways of Shinto while showing utmost care to the spirits, nature and Kami. They care about keeping traditions alive, making sure the purity of Shinto is proper through the generations.
Shorter Explanations:
Torii Gates, they mark the entrance of a sacred place. They symbolize the transition to holy grounds.
Festivals, life cycle ceremonies to celebrate births, weddings and community events. It sees blessings, such as luck!
Shintoism has a list of deities, Amaterasu Omikami. the sun goddess being the most known central one.

⋆˚࿔ Degree/Certifications (If applicable):
⋆˚࿔ Backstory
Haruto was born in Kyoto Japan, specifically around the mountain areas. Haruto's father was a priest, he had taken care of a shrine deeper into the mountains, where travelers of all sorts visited during the peak times. Haruto's dad enjoyed his life, he was a calm man known for his knowledge and wisdom throughout the years. His mother on the other hand was a musician, often finding herself playing her violin by the beautiful river next to the shrine. They were a lovely couple, known for their charity and positivity across the town.
Haruto was no different, he mostly grew up with his mom since his dad had to work when he was a kid, since his dad was too busy with shrine work. Despite that, Haruto adores what his father did, to him it was magic of some kind. He always went through pictures of his dad and the shrine with his mother whenever he requested, getting to see the shrine beforehand even as a kid. It was not long after his parents taught him simple stuff, stuff like bowing to the Torii Gates. His mother started to take him to the shrine and around, teaching his son to always chase and cherish happiness and care for those around him whatever they might have done. Haruto learned music during these times, slowly getting taught on how to play the violin and the piano by his mother, before he started visiting the shrine a lot often.
Once he hit the right age, Haruto started to go to the shrine occasionally, helping his father after school to clean the shrine or organize shelves. He liked being a part of it, he started reading and learning about Shintoism, helping him be more advanced in some parts of his education. Haruto was what you would describe as an angel descended from heaven, he radiated a visible glow that made you want to smile even if you were sad. Seeing him smile around the shrine made you forget all your problems for just a second, his destiny was written before he reached for it!
As time passed and Haruto grew up, he grew fond of his father's shrine. The boy was a charmful addition to its employees in a way, helping around the shrine after school and trying to learn more things with time. The boy was weird to some, there was no way a person could be this charmful and positive. Haruto's smile only grew as he got older, breaking his bonds of social interactions and talking to people more often. He was practically a tour guide for and around the shrine, welcoming people with his smile, trying to teach them as much as he could without wasting their time. It wasn't long for Haruto to take this even further. While passing through the town's local church, Haruto saw the old priest trying to carry heavy boxed, and attempted to help. Despite not being physically gifted, he was still a teenager, and managed to help with the carrying. It was that day that drifted Haruto from his old beliefs. Haruto after talking to the priest of the church, started reading about Christianity, slowly learning another religion. As mentioned, the boy enjoyed these stuff, and culture was for the people to share.
Time passed, Haruto had already learnt basic stuff about Christianity, Norse Mythology and Greek Mythology. It was clear his knowledge would only expand and grow with time, and that was what he hoped for deep inside all that light.
After finishing high school, Haruto decided to study music through deep consideration. He wanted to embrace that part of life, sounds! He moved over to Osaka which was not too far away from his home, making things easier for his situation. He studied music for years, not quitting his readings about the cultures of other kinds, expanding into religions like Buddhism or Islam. After graduating, Haruto returned back home, trying to gather his head about what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He loved the church, and he did enjoy music, but did he want to do it as a job for the rest of his life? He spent months in his own head while playing music in the shrine and the local church, as well as helping around.
It was a windy summer evening when Haruto fully decided on what to do, he would move on to study Shinto and get a degree, hoping to work with his father at the shrine. Haruto moved away once again, his journey to learn Shinto more full through glowing inside. Time passed, and Haruto was considered the top of his class, he did put everything he had into studying Shinto for years. After graduating and returning back home, Haruto was almost as educated as his father, despite the experience he lacked. He started working in the shrine, yet something was off.
Haruto had spent all his life dedicated to something, yet he never thought of what he was going to do ever. Spending a year in his father's shrine, Haruko saw a small island of Japan, a shrine in need of priests and maidens. The research for 'Shinsei Seinaru Monastery' didnt last too long. He didn't waste time, this was an opportunity to grab and for the first time in his life Haruto had some sense of ambition~!

CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE / SITUATIONS
⋆˚࿔ How does your character act around shrine grounds? How do they interact with guests and other staff?
Haruto specifically is very positive as mentioned, he would carry his grace and charmful personality through the shrine. He is already experienced in working in a shrine, therefore he will do everything he must to help people navigate or learn more about the culture. He believed that everyone who enters the shrine grounds should be appreciated and be welcomed with respect, no matter what they did or will do. Example is provided below:
Haruto bowed as he raised his head slightly above to softly smile at the visitors. He slowly straightened back up, his hands connected behind his back. He was smiling warmly, welcoming you into a conversation if you pleased, you felt like doing so as you stared at him a little longer. He took a step forward, nodding very slightly once again before speaking.
'Welcome to our shrine! Let me know if you need anything. The shrine grounds are free for you to visit as you please~! Upon being curious on anything, you can always ask me, i will be here. Let me know if you are interested in any tours, i can quickly show you around since i rather be here to welcome other visitors as well! Enjoy your time~!'
⋆˚࿔ You see a guest jumping around the roofs of the building and overall disrespecting shrine grounds, how would your character handle it?
Haruto took a deep breath as he walked over to the person, the smile on his fade lowering as he connected his hands behind his back once again, looking straight at the person. He smiled a little more softly expecting understanding and positivity from this interaction.
'Greetings~! I have observed that you have been acting rather disrespectful.. I would ask you to either stop this behaviour or please leave the shrine grounds. This kind of act is not appreciated here. If you do insist on being disrespectful to our beliefs, i will have to call the authorities to remove you. Thank you for your understanding. '
⋆˚࿔ Why does your character want to become a shrine maiden/priest? What do they wish to achieve?
As told above, Haruto believes in positivity. He wishes to spread this belief and positivity around Karakura, making as much people as happy and calm as he can! His whole life is dedicated to this and he looks forward to apply this rule of his in this new town he had come to. He wishes to achieve to be helpful to people and spread the Shinto belief among the people!
⋆˚࿔ What are the core values of your character? (OPTIONAL - MORE INFO IN FAQ)
Haruto adores nature overall, he cares about all life no matter the cost. He tries not to hurt even the smallest insect and wants everyone to be happy. The more people he can make smile, the happier he is. Haruto values all happiness above everything and believes that everyone should be loved in some way. No matter what you did or what you might do. Haruto will find and appreciate the little things about you. He is the embodiment of positivity, glowing like a beam of light spreading smile across the land he walks on.
