Describe your activity on the server:
My activity is fairly consistent; I tend to get on at least an hour or two each day and split my focus between what I am actively interested in, as well as push to reach quota on my currently existent KPD character. I do occasionally have draughts from other things I have to prioritise in life and small burnout, but these have not been a problem (that I have been told of) with any faction HUs, so it should by all means be a non-issue. I have been on the server for nearly three years now, with one year just about having been dedicated almost wholly to the Council - and another to the KPD practically exclusively. The account I am applying for is one I have used a fair bit less since I became KPD, but it is mostly due to being unable to really play the character on it to the fullest ability anymore.

What is your timezone?:

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
My experience with roleplay is quite vast, having a significant history with it dating back over a decade. I’ve been in many different roleplay verses, as well as differing mediums. These range from Fallout, to Sonic, or from Forumotion, to even the ancient Skype. I’ve seen thousands of characters, I’ve created and played hundreds myself, from differing backgrounds and wielding many differing personalities, robots, animals, younger characters, older characters, the lot! So when I say I have a lot of experience, I believe that I do have a LOT of it. On SRP itself, I’ve been in the Student Council, where I spent a large proportion of time engaging in the school side and being a goody two shoes. I’ve also had a lengthy stay in a delinquent crew, the Karakura ZEROS, before they disbanded - where I got quite involved in some of the more criminal side of the server. I have played animals briefly, briefly trialled a Teacher position, messed around playing a silly delusional witch girl, and of course, taken a front line role in becoming an adult as a police officer!

What is your motivation for applying?
I am applying to EMS because I would like to experience another facet of the server, for one. But the main reason is that I have a very, very solid vision in my mind for a character and a drive to actually learn the medical side a bit more extensively! I’ve always found life saving procedures to be engaging to watch, having spent quite a bit of time watching shows that involve that sort of thing. While my main bulk of interest usually lay in the law enforcement side, the tension of watching skilled surgeons, doctors, paramedics - it’s another thing entirely. The breath holding suspense of watching hospital operations in dramas like Grey’s Anatomy or actual reality based ones, to even makeshift emergency ones like in The Good Doctor’s iconic airport scene. I want to contribute to making EMS a little more prominent where I am able, with my earlier timezone tendencies proving to fill a period where there isn’t as much activity, too. All in all, it would be a great learning experience, would enable a character concept in my head to truly come to fruition and would grow how much I’ve seen on the server! It would be great!

Which role are you applying for?
Doctor

What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?
My knowledge of the hospital faction is a bit less extensive as I would like, but I have a general summary idea:

Director - The hospital’s top dog, the director is the big boss of the whole hospital and oversees the entire thing, able to manage staff and dole out punishments or even fire people if the need arises. The director is responsible for keeping the hospital well managed and typically takes a more admin role, handling behind the scenes work rather than being a front line role.

Deputy Director - A right hand of the Director themselves, they act in a similar fashion, overseeing the faction and its needs at a much more admin level too, but with the freedom to step down to the lobby far more and be directly engaged with the work force, unless the Director is indisposed, in which case they would handle the admin side for them until they are able to take back over again.

Clinical Lead/Chief Paramedic - Acting as the heads of their respective clinical departments, the leads/chief act as higher ups in the hospital that are responsible for overseeing their more junior colleagues, to ensure nothing goes amiss and to offer guidance directly to them in the event it is required. They are also able to dish out warnings and punishments themselves given their ‘higher up’ status, but typically, these matters would be raised with the Director or Deputy Director if particularly egregious. The leads are the most senior roles of their departments and naturally carry the most experience AND authority.

Paramedic - A hands-on role that is acquired only through being a worker in the hospital for some time, the Emergency Department are the first-line responders that often work hand in hand with the police department responding to a stabbing, or bear calls. Equipped with a tranquilliser for bear calls and proper first-aid tools for the field, they are able to administer much higher quality aid to people away from the hospital and get them immediately escorted to the hospital. Paramedics are also able to assist in emergency procedures in the hospital itself if Doctors are indisposed, making them a very high specialty role.

Psychiatrist - Far more of an intellectual and social-based role compared to the others, a psychiatrist is a role that focuses on nuanced observation and check-ups on an individual’s mental state, often spaced out between appointments, they are the ones that are able to provide proper diagnosis and medication for mental illnesses or troubles. While not necessarily their specialty traditionally, in Karakura, Psychiatrists are also able to offer therapy of both the physical and mental kind. They tend to be kept away from the more physically gruesome side of the hospital and instead focus on the mentally taxing side, requiring a high mental fortitude to endure the constant depression stories they face from the populace.

Doctor - The most simple to understand; a doctor is a diverse role that can handle a multitude of procedures, from physical check-ups, to referrals to psychiatry, to the handling of the more traumatic injuries and bodies, doctors handle a lot. They are in a sense a backbone for the hospital, dealing with the majority of the cases that the emergency services must battle with given the high injury (and sadly, even mortality) rate of Karakura.

Outside of these roles there are further nuances I’m aware of like the trainees, residents and all - plus procedures for the morgue that I am not too familiar with. But I fear I have yapped more than enough on this as is. My bad.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
I completely understand this!

Character Backstory:
Born and raised in the mainland, Mina had quite a good upbringing, within a fairly traditional family; upholding Shinto practices and picking up customs very swiftly over time. Enrolling in school, she wasn't a particularly exceptional student at first, having some trouble here and there initially, but over time, she grew to take things quite seriously thanks to a good supportive network of friends and teachers. This led to her being able to pursue her dreams, even despite having a slight 'distraction' in the form of a relationship in her late teens. Ironically, said relationship turned out to be far more than just a small phase, with the two of them staying together for what was set to be their entire lives; growing out of school together and tending to their own individual dreams, with Mina becoming a doctor through rigorous effort and care. A very lively woman, she was a warm face in a colder world, with many, many plans for the future; having a daughter and working toward seeing her plans properly come to be.

Fate unfortunately had other plans.

(This is a fairly vague backstory on purpose; I wish to unfold more details through roleplay! I hope that is alright, as it is optional in the first place?)

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY
What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

General Surgery (Slight cardiovascular focus) - With a fairly high interest in the human body and its intricacies, Mina had always been curious toward procedures designed to fix anomalies and problems that someone was experiencing. Hands on, high stakes, life saving operations that were also naturally intensely emotional in dramatic media she watched, or in books she read. Even having a slight interest in something as silly as Trauma Center as a video game while going through her residencies (though she couldn’t ever properly finish it), Mina found herself very much invested in the notion of saving lives with her own hands. She wanted to be able to offer knowledge and advice to those she cared about, too, with a strong pride in being a walking encyclopaedia in her younger years.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
Mina has worked in the mainland as a doctor for quite a few years, acting as a surgeon in a fairly large hospital; having seen and guided many operations by her own hand. Her transfer to Karakura follows a dramatic, unfortunate change in circumstances, with a desire to simply get away from the mainland and forget.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?

A woman of average stature, Kurokawa at core is a fairly bland looking individual that seeks not to stand out. Yet, in the process, ends up ironically standing out a fair bit amidst the more colourful populace. With natural, raven black hair that is swept as tidily as she can manage to uphold some decency of appearance, the main distinguishing features are her worn, tired looking eyes - entire face drained of prominent coloration most days from what seems like sleep deprivation. She wears sleek glasses at nearly all times and is always seen with a thermos filled with coffee somewhere close by, acting as her lifeblood. At a first glance, she would appear to be quite edged, sharp, perhaps a slight blunt as well. Yet, under the surface, she is a troubled woman with a damaged, but large heart, that still tries to do her best.

The most unique facet of her presentation no doubt would be the whiplash between her neutral, resting state of seeming completely thoroughly done with everything - and her professional working focus, where she suddenly has life breathed into her like a machination starting up. Typically, it begs many questions from onlookers, who expect to be viciously scolded for so much as breathing at her wrong due to her usual resting face. In a professional environment, said professionalism and a sense of having to uphold a proper image are the main reasons for her to be less vocal, as she is a strong believer that if you have nothing worthwhile to say, it is best not to say much of anything at all, but she isn’t against small talk for the sake of keeping relations positive with her co-workers.

Outside of work, she tends to simply want to avoid people in general; not necessarily because she hates everyone, but because she is simply too socially tired to engage and gets exceptionally frustrated very quickly by repeated pestering. Even so, her older age and the natural maturity and wisdom that come with it serve to make her a very unique face among the usual rabble in Karakura, who tend to be unruly teenagers or younger adults.

How does your character act around the hospital?
Mature, professional, dedicated. Mina won’t let personal vices or gripes get in the way, having taken her oath and being an advocate for doing her job well; even someone she hates she will not turn a blind eye to their time of need, it would be far too much a violation of what she believed in and worked toward (even if she would wish internally she could ignore them, still).

She will spend most of her time during the less busy hours simply reading in solitude or drinking an abundance of coffee to keep herself perked up and have her brain engaged, showing less interest in simple small talk socialising with colleagues, instead wishing to get the job done. When the public are involved, she will uphold a proper image and present herself as polite, warm, caring - seeking to help those that need it and truly serve her purpose as a doctor, willing to offer advice and even comfort, despite how much she battles with intense stress internally.

Typically, she will be as available as she can be, manning the desk and being there to answer questions even despite her aversion to being pestered. A job is a job, after all.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Mina is the type to prefer her own company, typically being a fair bit more reserved and quiet compared to the average, especially those in Karakura. When working, she is not against working as a team, but she trusts in her own hand and skill and believes her own process to be tried and true; typically operating as a reliable, but lonesome worker. She can become fairly stubborn on her own processes when questioned, unless there is an exceptionally good argument to using a different one - leading to unnecessary stalling and friction in getting a smooth job done, thus she simply functions better when left to her own devices usually. Even so. Someone has to break her out of that shell, surely…?

BOOM! That's that. Thank you for reading, I look forward to any feedback I shall receive on this. Naturally, best of luck to any OTHER applicants that happen to read this too. :D
