Hello, School Roleplayers. The Hospital Faction is going through changes, and we need you!!! to give your opinions on it so that we can get a very equal spread of diverse opinions. I propose four questions:

As a player base,
- What do you dislike about roleplaying in the Hospital / with Hospital Workers?
- What would make you feel more inclined to roleplay with Hospital Workers?
- Are there any functions you believe could be improved? If so, how? e.g., Recovery.
- As an ego booster, what does the Hospital faction do well that you enjoy / already makes you feel included?
PLEASE GIVE HONEST AND REAL OPINIONS!!!!
Thanks, temulalaptop, for guiding me through my first forum post. Also, anyone who's too 'afraid' per se to post their replies can contact me in DMs instead! (@6Pancake)

woah this temulalaptop guy is so awesome and cool. i heard he's also really good at rp for the times he can log on! raikou kirishiki is super approachable, he rings a bell and he has rokku heddo-devawhatever coming for help cus raikou is director. anyways, PLEASE GIVE US OPINIONS!! u can be real, im just a guy and alex is just a girl and we're just people trying to improve rp for everyone

1. As of right now I can't think of any dislikes.
2. I feel like players should know what services the hospital offers. As I believe that not many know what kind of services hospital offers. I feel like a list on the forum or EMS discord would be a great idea. If we had that list us players could perhaps get new roleplay ideas and such for examples roleplaying our character getting a blood drawn and etc. Plus perhaps EMS can hold conventions or like lectures where they talk about a subject to educate the people of Karakura on their health.
3. When your character has two broken legs they can somehow walk with crutches which in real life isn't possible. I suggest that hospitals should get wheelchairs that they can give to people who have two broken legs or are paralysed (now as of now I think there isn't any paralysed people in Karakura but this would perhaps give people the opportunity to make one if they wish to do so). I know that some or a few people have wheelchairs as a custom so I was thinking of adding something that differents the hospital wheelchair and costum wheelchair from one another. For example the hospital wheelchair would be the one you need to push with your hands or have someone push you while the costum wheelchair is electric (basically there is a joystick that when you push it the wheelchair starts moving in the direction you pushed it in).
4. I personally think that the hospital faction does a good job. I am a big fan of the hospital faction myself. It is an interesting faction.

I love hospital faction.
Anyway I had a little idea a few months ago about RecoveryRP

In regards to RecoveryRP, I think it would be really nice if there were still more roleplay opportunities, obviously you can have others visit you but if you had a ward area reserved for people to still be able to roleplay on their character. You could have Hospital workers work shifts to roleplay with those in the Recovery unit (add it to quota maybe). Perhaps you can even encourage roleplay in the Recovery area with letting some in Recovery, (not major recovery where it's really bad) but for those with a broken leg you could do physiotherapy activities and it could lessen the Recovery time, for example. The more you roleplay out the recovery, the faster it could be? This would entice roleplay between both parties of the Hospital staff and the player in recovery.

I also think there needs to be a little bell at the Pharmacy counter, (perhaps a new model) that once clicked gets rung with a cooldown of course and alerts the Hospital Staff that somebody is waiting there.

Okay that's all, we should bring you into School more for assemblies though!

I was looking into this recently and it’s definitely something I’ve had in the works for the past week or so! Issue is covering everything we need, so if anyone reading this has any further and more specific confusions, please let me know so I can include it!

We could look into having a weekly “event” where on every, let’s say Monday OOCly, we have a small side room set up for teaching first aid, or taking blood donations. It wouldn’t be announced every time and would just be on for the duration of the day. What do you reckon about that?

We have a wheelchair custom (the default one) but no procedures regarding it yet as we cannot hand them out to players and can only use them in the Hospital.

Thank you on behalf of all current workers!

Thanks…

Definitely agree! I have assigned a couple workers to research physical therapy, so if anyone has any proper knowledge on it, I’d love to hear about it!

How would you reckon the shifts could work? If we could have someone on at all times it’d be easier to not have the area fully closed off but I fear there is real life…

/call 110… A bell would be annoying.

You should!

I have seen the wheelchair custom once. But I believe players should have access to it as walking on two broken legs with a crutch isn't that realistic, as it is difficult and would hurt. Wheelchairs could be given to the person via a prescription like crutches are given for a certain money yen price of course.

I believe that would work and it would give others something to roleplay on their character. Plus events don't happen that often I believe so. At first it will likely have many people attending but once it has been for a longer time there will be less people attending, so it would be great to switch up the topic from time to time or something along the lines so it isn't the same thing every single time as it can become a bit boring for some.

The only access we can give is give them inside the hospital. They can’t be given to players to keep and won’t be sold in the pharmacy.

Yup! That’s why it should swap weekly, like blood donations, lectures, etcetera! I’d definitely love to see more topics we could cover that you guys would be interested in :)

Is there a reason why access can only be in the hospital and why it won't be sold in the pharmacy? I am curious.

Bit reckless to give a bunch of people wheelchairs since it’s a whole vehicle item… We can definitely start using them around the hospital more

if recovery becomes more of a roleplay opportunity we could possibly have people with two broken legs in recovery for a little bit? Assuming we get to a point where your RP isn’t restricted to certain times…

Or maybe perhaps have them go through some sort of physical therapy like thing before they can roam around Karakura with crutches. Like lets say someone who has two broken legs has to be in recovery for a day and the person can roleplay out their character doing physical therapy or something off that sorts (during their recovery time) if they want to. This would make walking around with crutches while having two broken legs more sense or perhaps bit more realistic. Or perhaps we can give people these (the thing on the picture, I don't know what it is in english) as like a mobility aid to help them walk with two broken legs. Now of course adding this would mean making a model, implementing it and all the other necessary steps. It would take time to add this into the game.

I think Frenzy is onto something, I don't get put in recovery often but more options while in recovery would be nice. Maybe a healing process like Printsess has mentioned, Having opportunities to roleplay outside of the recovery ward, Maybe a shop has opened that sells food and you can go get breakfast with a doctor, Maybe a walk to one of the parks outside of the hospital and enjoy some fresh air. I also like Printsess idea of some sort of physical therapy. I know we used to have the physical therapy room in the basement, But I did not see that get used once. Bringing this part back I think would benefit the recovery stage by just simply giving us an extra aspect to roleplay out when we are injured and even for hospital staff to do, Gives them more quota options too.

As someone who is in KPD I already feel included with EMS as we often do stuff along side each other so I cant really comment on that from an outsiders view as that hasn't been me for over a year. I've been in both EMS and KPD in the past year and a half now.

Another thing I think should be added is more exams, For the public. Now I don't mean exams as in literally taking a written exam. I mean for some of the items that are sold at the pharmacy, Reading glasses are sold in the pharmacy and I believe hearing aids (I may be wrong about the hearing aids part, I've just heard it around.) Yet there isn't a hearing or eye examination. I think adding that part will once again give both the current hospital staff as well as general public more opportunities to roleplay with one and other.

I would also like to see EMS to more with other factions, For example. Possibly teach basic first aid to other factions, Maybe teach school nurses how to use gauze pads to stop bleeding, Just basic first aid lessons to other factions, Speaking of other factions, More events! Whether it be fundraiser events or even events like the blood donation one, Maybe its that time of the year where schools get vaccination jabs and so on. There is many event possibilities for EMS.

Some of these may have already been mentioned, I didn't fully read all responses. Wanted to get mine out there is all.

I’d love to add physical therapy as a proper procedure, and we’ve been planning on doing so for awhile, so this could incorporate in nicely!

If anyone has a custom of this that they’d like to donate to the faction, I wouldn’t mind selling it in the pharmacy!

I’m not sure if babysitting them on the way to the shop would be too enjoyable, as we have our own canteens to baby sit people in! And like I’ve mentioned in past responses, I’d love to see people utilise physical therapy more - This could be a key part in most recovery injuries now!

Glad to hear it!

Exams for both of these already exist, they’re likely just not requested that often…!

Would love to do more events with other factions. I’ll definitely make a note of these ideas and if anyone else has any, I’d love to hear them! No matter how ridiculous :)

The more we hear the same ideas, the better grasp we get of what’s wanted and what needs improvement! I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions even if it’s already been said!

It'd be super fun for EMS to come in and have some (intentionally boring or crazy) assemblies about basic safety or things like that!

On a more serious note, what if patients who are in recovery are given the possibility to take a walk outside the hospital (under the authorization and supervision of a Head-position hospital worker) with an IV stand hooked into their wrist. Doing these little strolls around the hospital's outskirts could lead up to some interesting RP, as well as yet another way to earn quotas

Of course, if a hospital worker suspects the patient may be in danger or hunted by gangs, they have the right to deny this procedure.

Patients also cannot escape recovery due to OOC rules (realistically you dont wanna escape if your life would be at risk outside of the hospital for too long)

from the past almost two years i have been playing, i had recoveries on and off, from the crazy me in 2023 having shattered legs (or ankles!) to losing a leg, and being stabbed once in 2024 (which i oocly consented) even, in 2023 i'd sometimes recover rp, or visit friends, the only thing i might recommend is, if possible to have something for the characters who have immune deficiency (it has a few types such as iga deficiency and others)

Could be fun like the walks to the park perhaps, but we’d definitely need to figure out how to encourage genuine interaction between patient and worker otherwise it’d just be .. walking and then back in the room…

Could you elaborate on this?

Knowing barely ANYTHING about this faction, I would suggest ... something like...

1748003033167.png

Chronically Ill Patients Living in the Hospital

Allow a limited number of characters (maybe through a character application during during recovery time) to become long-term or "permanent" residents of the hospital (With an option to set the spawn point in a hospital area) due to old age, chronic illness, very-slow recovery from major trauma, or terminal conditions. This exists in real life and could/might lead to interesting RP scenarios!

Persistent rp hooks and reliable presence.
Because characters create a constant reason for staff to be present as they offer more consistent rp between players, and are different from other hospital staff. So basically an option for staff to do shift RP with long-term patients. From physiotherapy to emotional care. (it helps staff meet quotas and creates fulfilling slow-burn stories!) It would be a great way to bond with the faction, without being EMS themselves. This can create relationships like day-to-day interactions that go beyond a diagnosis or emergency care, but still in the hospital setting. This would work for long-term patients and medical staff. Long-term patients act as anchor characters that others can visit and maybe confide in or care for, which would give purpose to casual hospital visits. Chronically Ill patients might be able to leave the hospital for a short while or temporarely while being accompanied by an EMS worker or a next of kin, but would return to the hopsital after each trip.

Emotional drama and interpersonal growth
for EMS workers, psychotherapuetic staff and nurses/doctors, and patients who can develop ongoing relationships instead of fragmented changing acquaintances. (Maybe even develop mentorships or rivalries. Or who knows, lovers?) With storylines about slow healing or worsening illness or even end-of-life decisions. That can show some real mature emotional rp.

Recovery and decline arcs
EMS and hospital residents can plan thoughtful long-term storylines like regaining the ability to walk, memory loss, transplant waiting lists, and so on. Sickness is a great source of conflict that can serve narratives, so having a reliable affliction over a long period of time can give EMS and long-term-patients some nice arcs to work through. Like having an elderly lady that spends her last months in care and only get few visits from family and can mostly bond with staff. Or a burned teenager with skin-grafts who hides away from the world in the hospital. Or any number of long game rp between patients and patients and doctors and patients that is usually out of reach for people, since recovery times are mostly skipRP and limited.

This might be interesting for people with multiple accounts on IC weekends or during IC nights, when SchoolRP is about the time outside of school.
