Backstory

Elena was born in Romania to her Romanian mother Izabela and Italian father Lucien. She had a good upbringing, up until the age of seven. This was when her parents would begin constantly arguing. At the time, Elena was too young to understand what it was about. Around this time, her mother gave her a locket. Elena treasured it, eternally grateful for the present. As they grew up with a low amount of income, it was rare she received gifts of the sort.

➳ When she reached the age of eight, her father abruptly had taken her away from home when her mother was at work. She didn't question it, assuming they were just going to head to the park or something of the like.

She was wrong. They ended up going to the airport, flying on a plane to Italy. Elena began to ask where they were going and where her mother was, but she never got a definite answer. Upon arriving in Italy, they were doing non-stop travelling, until they reached a settlement. It turned out to be a base of some sort. Being too young to understand why she was there, she went along with it, assuming it was a holiday.

It was only a week until she realised it wasn't a holiday. She was surrounded by violence and all sorts of bad behaviour. By the age of twelve, she was frequently smoking and being taught basic self-defence. This didn't mean she wasn't in education; the gang her and her father was staying with funded private tuition for her. Elena found a passion in creativity, and saw it as an escape from her life.

As she grew older, she began to hate her father more and more. Every time she would ask about her mother, he avoided the question entirely, causing her to jump to her own conclusions. The hate became mutual as she had more of an attitude with him. On more than one occasion, he lashed out on her for this. She grew miserable with her life, regularly drinking alcohol and smoking.

➳ A year later she decided she wanted to leave the gang. She dropped hints to her father, but he brushed off the suggestion. It was until she directly asked him, that he refused. She was she had no choice, and if she were to call the police she would be eventually hunted down. That was when she realised she had no choice; she had to stay with the people she despised.

➳ Soon enough, she felt isolated, untrusting of all the people she knew in the gang. Though she hung around them, she didn't consider them friends, and certainly not people she would willingly spend her time with. This was around the time she started getting into fights and witnessing a few drug deals. During this time, they were also trying to convince her that being in the gang was a positive thing; she didn't believe them. Unlike the minority of people her age that were in the gang, she wasn't blind-sighted to what their motives truly were.

➳ One fateful evening, a traitor had revealed the location of their base to the police. Many died that night, but Elena and her father were not one of those. He had received an arm wound, but that was it. Not wasting any time, they dyed their hair and made their best attempt of masking their identities. When certain they wouldn't get caught, they hopped on a plane to Japan for a fresh new start.

➳ Upon arrival, Elena noticed her father was more quiet than usual. It was understandable; what she assumed to be his only friends were dead, imprisoned or missing. She settled in to school with ease, finding it much more entertaining than her former tuition. This didn't mean her bad behaviour stopped; she still often got in to fights and smoked. Still, she was starting to enjoy life a lot more, and even met a few people she could call friends.

➳ Now, she is awaiting her exams, hoping to make it in to college. She has no plan beyond that, but hopes to find a career centered around one of her many hobbies.
