Accepted _suneater's Epic Art Teacher Application

suneaterchan

Level 105

What is your Minecraft username?:
I’m applying on the account under the username _suneater.

How old are you?:
At the time of writing this, I’m currently thirteen years old.

Do you have any previous bans?:
To my knowledge, there are know bans under my name. I frequently follow all server and server-reacted rules to ensure there are no issues. It is my duty to assure this will remain constant if I am given this role.

What Country are you from?:
I am from and currently reside inside of the United States.

Do you have Discord (if so, what is your discord username?):
I do have an account on Discord. My username on it is: sun#3296

Do you understand that most answers are found in the roleplay documents?:
I do understand that most of the answers to my questions regarding this position will be found within the roleplay documents. If a question or issue does seem to stump me, I will first refer to this section of the forums before anything else. Along with that, I’ll be sure to often keep this tab open for reference.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
I understand and acknowledge that if a time comes in which I’m inactive for a long period of time or without word, I’ll be demoted from this role. With this, I’ll be assuring my activity in the server.

Do you understand that all classroom activity must be documented on the "Teacher Roster" thread?:
I believe this question may be outdated, or simply just incorrect. The “Teacher Roster” is where teacher names, subjects and such are listed. However, I’m pretty sure there is somewhere that you’re required to document classroom activity. While as of now I’m unsure of where this may be, I’m confident I’ll find out if this application is accepted. If there is someplace in which I must log classroom activity, I’ll be sure to do that.

Describe your activity on the server & on the forums?:
My activity on the server may be a bit infrequent compared to before, since I have school, but it should be no big problem. I will most definitely log on after I complete school and until I need to go to sleep- which is around 3:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. EST on weekdays. I’m usually online for a few hours of the day, so I’m surely not inactive. A main goal of mine will be to log on often during the IC school day, so I can hold as many classes as I can and remain active.
My activity on the forums is a bit different. I usually check it a few times throughout the day, reading through the new updates. Frequently, I read through #forum-activity in the SRP Official Discord, quite often.

What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?:
I have quite a few motivations for becoming a teacher. I’m going to “list them” in a way, just to make sure it isn’t the same thing repeated. To keep it separated and all.

  • This one is a pretty common motivation, but it’s the experience. I’ve roleplayed as a lot of things, student, police officer, news reporter, and just normal adult. There have been quite a few other things that are just too minor to list. Roleplaying as a student, I’ve been to quite a few classes. I tend to enjoy them, and would like to try my hand at hosting a class myself! I think that roleplaying as a teacher will be a fun and unique experience, compared to other roles. Putting together classes, lessons, and activities could make for a fun roleplay experience, especially since I have nothing to do on the account I’m applying for. It’ll give me something to do.
  • A lot of classes are boring. I want to be able to create fun classes, not ones that are going to bore you to sleep. When I announce a class happening, I want players to be excited to attend! A lot of creativity will be needed as well, which I’m pretty sure I’ve got a lot of. So, my second motivation is pretty much just to make fun and interesting classes, to make the ‘school’ part of SRP a little bit more interesting. I also know quite a bit about this subject I’m applying for, and I’m very involved in it- so it will make for some good classes.
  • My third and final main motivation is to bring more to the school part of SRP, like I mentioned before. It’s been a problem for a while, and some teachers just don’t want to host classes. However. I want to host classes. I’ll be an active, and hopefully interesting teacher (where players will actually do the school stuff) which should be good for the community.
Do you have any experience in Roleplaying?:
I have quite some experience in roleplaying, but since it’s a lot I’ll only be going through what I’ve done on SRP. As I stated before, I have roleplayed in a couple different roles. These include roleplaying as a student, police officer, news reporter, and regular adult. I have the most experience in those certain roles, however my knowledge in TeacherRP isn’t completely limited. Police officers, news reporters, and regular students differ a lot from teachers. While I may not have experience in roleplaying as a teacher on SRP, I’ve sort of roleplayed as one outside of SRP on my own. From being a student though, I know a few things about teachers.

Have you read the Faculty Handbook?:
I haven’t read the Faculty Handbook, though I have reasoning as to why I’ve failed to do this. I’m actually not able to locate it, anywhere. The roleplay documents section only has the Teacher/School Staff CoC, which I have read as a substitute to the Faculty Handbook. I checked other places on the forums for things like the OOC rules and Faculty Handbook, but I was not successful in finding it. Other than that though, I read through everything else I could find on the Teacher section of the forums. I understand and will abide by all of the rules listed, and understand the Code of Conduct. If I have any questions, I’ll check back to this section of the forums or ask someone.

What are the classroom logs and why is it important?:
Classroom logs are used to list and record the events and activities that have occured within the classroom. These are extremely important, mainly for activity reasons. Higher-ups are able to review a teachers activity, making sure that the teachers are during their work and remaining active. They’re mainly for keeping track of teachers activity and their work.

You want to start a school field trip; how do you do that?:
To start a school field trip, there’s a process that needs to be gone through by the teacher. Unless it’s changed, it should first be brought up to Duckings. If the field trip is approved, then it can be put into action. A location and such must be decided beforehand.

As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
There’s a couple strict rules that are to be put in place during my classes, and they are the following:

  • No speaking unless instructed. (Quiet talking while working is not prohibited.) This is the ensure that everyone in the classroom is paying attention to the lesson, and learning at the best of their abilities.
  • Food and drinks are not to be present during class. This is the prevent distractions and/or messes being made inside of the classroom.
  • Phones and distractions (Such as hats or toys) will not be permitted. Similar to the food and drinks, it will prevent distraction in the classroom. Each student should be paying attention, so it’s important they aren’t distracted.
  • Students must stay seated during class. Just like the last 3 rules, there shouldn’t be any distractions. Moving during a class shouldn’t be necessary either, and some students may be moved for a reason- meaning they shouldn’t get up again.
  • Students are to respect each other and the teacher. The teacher is there to help them learn, meaning full respect should be given.
  • Violence is forbidden. It’s common sense- there shouldn’t be random physical fights breaking loose in the class.
  • Students must raise their hands. Also common sense, it helps to maintain order in the class.
  • Participate. (At least try to participate.) Don’t come to a class if you aren’t going to try to learn or participate. The teachers work hard to put classes together, and having people come to do nothing is a waste.
Consequences will differ depending on the rule broken. A student may be given a warning, detention, or kicked from the class entirely.

Summarize your previous RP experience's (both in general and on SchoolRP):
As I previously mentioned, I have roleplayed a few different roles on SRP. These roles include a regular highschool student, a police officer, news reporter and just a regular adult. I haven’t roleplayed before as a teacher in SRP, but I have been to various classes on the server. Outside of SRP, I’ve roleplayed as a teacher a bit on my own. It wasn’t as complex as SRP though, but I have at least a little bit of knowledge in it.

Describe the ranking system of teachers:
- HD: The HD is the Head of the Department. They’re in charge of the QTLS and NQT, and depending on the subject, they are the head of it. The HD is also the one who overlooks plans.
- QTLS: The QTLS is the Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills. This rank is in between both NQT and HD. They are more notable teachers and do not require guidance like an NQT might.
- NQT: The NQT is the Newly Qualified Teacher. These are usually new teachers. They work similarly to any other teacher, and can teach classes. Most often, they are heavily monitored by a higher ranked person.

Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.
Teachers in game and out of game are almost exactly alike. It’s in the name- they teach people. More specifically, their students. To educate us a teacher’s purpose, both in game and out. They construct lessons and assignments to teach students, and maybe go as far as inspiring them in some way. Their lessons should be planned well to properly teach their students. While also educating a group of people in a certain subject, they also teach them important life skills along the way. It’s the same case in game as well.
Everyday, a teacher wakes up to help people learn. As a reward for their hard work, a teacher will receive pay. In Japan, an average teacher may receive 200,000 - 600,000 yen per month for their work. In game, teachers are paid 250,000 yen per month- if they succeed in reaching 15 classes, that is. Teachers will also get paid 50,000 yen per 5 extra classes each month.
When school is no longer in session, teachers, like everyone else, have a life. Their life may consist of grading papers from the pasts lessons, creating new lessons, or just lounging around. Teachers do have lives outside of school. They still need to go grocery shopping and all, but their teaching work still lurks someplace underneath, whether it’s their ungraded papers piling up on their desks or the stress of new lessons ideas that won’t bore their class to death.

Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?:
It’s a SchoolRP server, there’s no doubt that teachers are extremely important. Without them, that “school” in SchoolRP might not be so possible. Teachers make up a major part of SchoolRP, since they host classes and help players to advance. The schooling system is also being improved, so teachers on SRP are very necessary at this point in time. They’re needed in order for a student to graduate and progress to college and eventually adulthood, where they can then get a job themselves. Teachers are what makes SchoolRP work, with classes being held for players to go to. The school would be very useless if teachers didn’t exist on SRP. It wouldn’t even be SchoolRP, since the school wouldn’t even be an active part of it. Classes, held by teachers, give players something to do at the school. Teachers are an extremely important role in SchoolRP, since it probably wouldn’t be possible without them. They keep it realistic, since there shouldn’t really be a school with no teachers.

What lesson planning system does the school work on?: MoSCoW - Must have, should have, could have, won’t have.

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does he look like? What makes him unique and different? What is his outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is his personality like? What is his plan for the future?
Riyako Terusuno is an optimistic female, standing at a height of 5’4”, and weighs 133 pounds. Her build was pretty basic, nothing really special- aside from her “larger-than-average” bust area. Her obsidian colored, silky hair fell past her waist. One of Riyako’s more noticeable features, aside from her dull, emerald eyes, is the lighter tuft of hair towards the front of her head. This light-blonde area of her hair is completely natural, due to poliosis. She’s usually full of energy, but can embarrass herself quite easily. Awkward situations aren’t her speciality, either- though she will always find a way out of it- or just laugh until she forgets what’s going on. When it comes to her students, or even just students in general, she does care about them extremely deeply. Seeing as she was one in the past, Riyako wants only the best for them and will go above and beyond to ensure they get the education and help that they need. She may jump from topic to topic, and easily get distracted, but her main priority would always be the students’ well-being. For the other teachers, she fully and genuinely admires them! As long as they’re treating their students correctly and teaching them to the best of their abilities. When it comes to her future life, she still aspires to keep looking for something. Of course, there are her hopes and dreams that she will probably never be fulfilled. That doesn’t mean she won’t stop though, becoming a teacher is just a part of her life “journey”. Teaching is an important part of what is going to be the rest of her life- for now, at least.

You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?:
To begin, I’d calmly request them to stop their poor behavior and instead separate and do something else. If that fails, I’ll warn them or even go as far as giving them detention if I’m unable to break the fight apart. Depending on the situation, law enforcement may need to be contacted and punishments might even be severe, like a suspension.

No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?:
I would raise my voice and begin to do small things to gain their attention. My attitude would then grow more strict, and I would most likely give the entire class a warning. If the class continues to not listen, I’ll start removing the disruptive students.

When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?:
While my character is usually laid back and friendly, she would still remain mostly serious and professional in the work atmosphere. In the teacher’s lounge, Riyako would maintain her professional mannerisms while in this type of situation. However, she may be more friendly and definitely not as strict- considering there isn’t a class to take care of.

Provide at least 5 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:
/me would stand patiently, examining each and every one of the students sitting at their desks as they worked to complete their assignments.
/me turned to face the chalkboard behind her. She began to slowly and neatly write out her name on its surface for the entire class to read.
/me let out a long sigh before clapping her hands together, creating a loud noise, to gain the class’ attention.
/me would observe the classroom from up front; ensuring that each student present had successfully found a partner.
/me would hold up the student’s creation, holding it up high enough in order to showcase it for the entire class to view.

Backstory
Riyako Terusuno was born on May 22nd, 1994. She grew up someplace in the outskirts of a city, not a large distance from what became Karakura. Her childhood and early life were just like any other’s; nothing too special or particularly “edgy” happened. As a child, Riyako took a love for literally any type of art. Something unknown about it always excited her, and so she just wanted to do everything involving it. She had a lot of interests, not all ones she knew she could pursue, but at least art was one of them.
During High School, Riyako decided to take things with art more seriously! Except it failed, terribly. Her many interests got in the way, and her numerous after-school activities always flooded her schedule, not leaving much time for her interest in art. It upset her, and so she temporarily “gave up on it” (It was pretty obvious though that she “secretly” did things related to it in her basement.) As much as Riyako wanted to do 600 things at once, it never worked out.
A lot of the time though, when she “got caught” while doing such activities in her basement, she ended up showing off her skills and what she was working on. If she really wanted to, she’d go as far as teaching them the very criteria she was using.
One day, Riyako decided it was a wise idea to move to Karakura to find something to do. She was almost very wrong- almost. She knew barely anyone, and had a hard time even just navigating her way through. There were a couple people she acquainted herself with, and even a few people she grew a strong fondness and liking to. Despite this though, she grew very bored of Karakura.
In search of something more, she decided to pick back up on an old hobby of hers, art! And so, she did. Her love for it came back, at least a little- but it was sort of destined to- especially after her whole “aspiring actress” dream didn’t work out that well.
After a bit, she went to college. She studied for 4 years, before finally graduating with a bachelor’s degree. Riyako then went off to become a teacher at the High School in Karakura.
