Do I need the resource pack to roleplay?

Can I still roleplay even though the resource pack doesn't work for me? Maybe I can start roleplaying while I'm fixing the issue?

I'm sorry If I'm being stupid lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You don't need the pack to roleplay, but you'll most definitely want it, without it you'll see a lot of diamond hoes, and things won't make any sense visually. The most common solution is to try installing optifine, since that seems to help. Alternatively, you could just download the pack manually into your resourcepacks folder, this video shows you how.

another way to download the resource pack (which works for most players, including myself) is to play on 1.13.2 with optifine.

roleplaying without the resource pack may be challenging sometimes (especially if someone is wearing a mask and it comes up as a diamond hoe above their head?), but i did it for a little while before solving my resource pack issue.

Oh frick- Not sure why that happened, I do the same thing and my client runs fine. I suggest removing the pack from the resourcepacks folder, and simply going with the optifine solution. If you need help fixing the crashing, I'd be more than happy to assist in any way I can. Apologies for the issue caused by my suggestion.
