※ Liu Yitian was the nicest kid you could meet growing up. He'd share his food with you if you were still hungry. He'd offer a helping hand even if you didn't need it. He'd offer anything for anyone - even give away his money to kids that needed it for lunch. His parents disapproved of this, though, and therefore stopped giving him the money to pay for his own lunch and paid for it for him instead.
Speaking of parents, Yitian overall had nice ones - His mom was an accountant, and his dad a lawyer. Before Yitian was born, his grandfather on his mother's side had died of bone marrow cancer, type multiple myeloma. He had never met his grandfather on his mother's side, therefore he never knew about the genetic genes he had from his grandparent. His father smoked, which could be another big factor to the later diagnosis of cancer that Yitian grew into.
Around the age of fifteen, Yitian was diagnosed with anemia. He was often dizzy, tired, and drowsy, and got out of class often due to these matters. He was often sent either to the nurse's office or sent home to be with his parents. Yitian's parents then began homeschooling him for two years, then sent him to one more year of high school, in hopes of him growing up and going to college.
When Yitian was seventeen, among the last days of his summer, his anxiety was through the roof and he just wasn't feeling well either. His parents took him to the hospital after he passed out while hanging out with a few friends from middle school. There, he was claimed to be passed out of exhaustion - all the while, his parents insisted he had been getting sleep just fine. The hospital had insisted that Yitian have blood work done, and after a day of arguing his parents finally agreed.
This was the moment when Yitian was diagnosed with multiple myeloma blood marrow cancer. His parents wept over him, scared to death that he was going to die - unlike most Asian stereotype parents, they wanted no pressure on him at all, they didn't pressure him to be perfect. They moved to Karakura, away from Yitian's childhood friends in China and their own friends, too scared to tell them that their own son had cancer - much less that it had been caught late. Yitian's parents often travel nowadays, leaving him to handle on his own at age nineteen - though he is monitored by friends and the rare family around him.
