Out-Of-Character Information

What is your Minecraft username?: PrintedForests

How old are you?: 18

Do you have any previous bans?: Not that I am aware of

What Country are you from?: United States

Do you have Discord (if so, what is your discord username?): Yes, Jake#4869

Do you understand that most answers are found in the roleplay documents?: Yes

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?: Yes, which is completely reasonable.

Do you understand that all classroom activity must be documented on the "Teacher Roster" thread?: Yes, I understand.

Describe your activity on the server & on the forums?:
Though I am not very active on the forums, on the server I am definitely one of the know-it-all, teacher’s pet, type of student. I also spend time helping new players as sort of an older student mentor, where I show them where classes are and where the shops are. I tend to be on anywhere from 4-7 hours on any given day.

Link(s) to any previous applications on the server?:

Trivia

What is your motivation for becoming a teacher?:
My motivation is to help bring a larger class variety to Karakura, and to bring a more interactive class environment following the teaching style of Unviews’ Sociology class. Also, there are times when I’ve seen teachers take on multiple class periods back to back since no other teaching faculty are online.
In addition to this, when I first joined the server I was asking around how I could age up and become a teacher. It was my primary focus the second I joined the server.

Do you have any experience in Roleplaying?:
Yes, I used to be an admin on another server when I was younger, where I would set up different RP’s and started to push roleplay onto the factions server (Name of server can be given at request). I have been a DM for multiple Dungeons and Dragons campaigns over the years.

Have you read the Faculty Handbook?:
No, since the link was not working for me, I read the Teacher OOC Rules thread and the Teacher/School Staff COC thread.

What are the classroom logs and why is it important?:
The classroom logs are where teachers record their class activities, which is then reviewed by the school’s administration as a way to evaluate the teacher’s performance. Then, the teachers use the review to improve upon their teaching.

You want to start a school field trip; how do you do that?:
  1. Explain the importance of said field trip

  2. Select a date and time for the field trip

  3. Select a location that fits the needs of the class

  4. Submit a Field Trip Application to the forums and await staff approval

As a teacher, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
  • No eating in class, drinks may be allowed as long as they do not make a mess

  • Students may not talk on the phone, but keeping the phone on is allowed so they do not miss any crucial messages

  • Class preparation is important (having enough notebooks, pencils, pens, etc.)

  • Punctuality is key, being late results in exclusion from class

  • No swearing at, insulting, or disturbing other classmates in any way shape or form

  • Students are required to raise their hands in order to speak in class

Summarize your previous RP experience's (both in general and on SchoolRP):

I used to host mini roleplay events on other servers where people would design their characters and use them to adventure throughout different storylines. This then progressed to being a Dungeon Master for multiple Dungeons and Dragons campaigns over the years. Currently on SchoolRP I am on daily for hours at a time (estimated 4-7) where my character is a know-it-all Grade 12 student.

Describe the ranking system of teachers:

- HD:
Head of Department, the person in charge of every other teacher in that department. They maintain the curriculum and perform evaluations.

- QTLS:
Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills, basically they are the teachers who can have their own independent classes.

- NQT:
Newly Qualified Teacher, usually those who have just begun teaching and are still developing the essential skills needed to teach at Karakura High. Their classes are usually assisted by the HD or a designated QTLS teacher.

Teacher Knowledge

Present to us your knowledge about Teachers in-game and out-of-game, what purpose do teachers serve. What salary do they get? Include a paragraph about the way teachers teach, what they do in their spare time in general.
Teachers are those who are responsible for a student’s future, they play an extremely important role in helping students discover who they want to be and how they will be able to get there. They are also always there to give students a little bit of tough love.
From a quick google search I found that teachers (specifically in japan) make anywhere from 200,000-600,000 yen per month.
In-game teachers keep the server running, hosting classes, coming up with activities, and keeping their lesson plans new and interesting. They also are important for keeping order within SchoolRP by giving detentions to those who disobey the rules. Teachers on SchoolRP all have different teaching styles which is what keeps the server interesting. As long as the students are understanding the concept and getting their questions answered the teacher is doing a pretty good job in my opinion. Also, on the server the teachers do normal things on their spare time such as fishing, swimming, and hanging out with friends. However, there are times where the teachers will need to put some time aside to make lesson plans and plan out their schedules.

Why are teachers important to a SchoolRP server?:
Teachers are important to the server since they keep Karakura functioning. We could not have SchoolRP without teachers to guide the students in the right path and to host the classes that are essential to the server as a whole.

What lesson planning system does the school work on?:
Must have, Should have, Could have.

Character Knowledge

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does he look like? What makes him unique and different? What is his outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is his personality like? What is his plan for the future?
Grayson Liakos is a Greek-American male from Mykonos. He stands at 6’2” and weighs approximately 170lbs, he has broad shoulders and a toned physique from hours of swimming. He has messy brown hair, dark brown eyes, and 00 gauges in both of his ears that he is trying to close. Grayson can be a bit socially awkward at times since he fixates on random things and tends to go on tangents which others may find off-putting. Despite this, Grayson is extremely intelligent, quick witted, and generally a very friendly person.

He would be deemed unique because of his age, background, and his ability to truly push students to succeed. He sees students as a way to change the world, and a way to change the way future generations will think, approach problems, and choose outcomes. Grayson would do his best to keep a positive relationship with other teachers since they’re a great insight into which students need extra help, which to look out for, and who will become something great.

Grayson’s plan for the future is to earn his PhD in Philosophy along with a PhD in Ethics. He works to achieve this by attending university online in between class periods and when he is not grading assignments. He also hopes to someday buy himself a nice apartment with a view of the beach, get married, and enjoy the simple life.

Scenarios

You find a gang of delinquents in the hallway cursing and swearing, what do you do?: Politely ask them to stop or they will be getting detention. If it continued I would contact other teachers and possibly the principal to help get the issue sorted.

No one in your class is listening to a word you say, what do you do?:
Clap my hands together and call out for students to divide themselves on opposite sides of the room depending on their answers to a philosophical question (ex. "If God does not exist, everything is permissible. Yes or No?”) Then I will nominate a captain for each team having them work as a group to put together a sound debate and have them begin. Or I would give them a pop quiz.

When in the teacher's lounge, how does your character act?:
He would be quiet for the most part and intently listen to what the other teachers have to say before giving his input on whatever it is they are talking about. Grayson would also take extra time to organize his class plans and ask the other teachers for their opinions on what he wishes to do that day.

Provide at least 5 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:

/me facepalms and looks down at the student with utter confusion

/me rolls neck and cracks knuckles before walking up to the podium to begin class

/me nods and smiles from ear to ear when [the student] comes up with an excellent argument

/me stares out the window with a look of horror as he realizes he forgot to submit an assignment the previous night

/me chuckles to himself as the students scramble to pull together a solid debate with their team

Backstory

Grayson was born in Mykonos, Greece near the Kalafati beach.

His mother Adrasteia Liakos, a native to Mykonos, was 20 when she had Grayson. She worked as a seamstress expertly sewing and hemming linens and silks. Meanwhile, his father Myles Hunter, is an American born businessman who went to Mykonos on a foreign exchange program when he was 20 years old. Grayson’s parents met at the beach when Myles was 20 and Adrasteia was 19. To them it was love at first sight. They were together for 6 months before Myles had to return to America to continue his education back home. During that time Adrasteia discovered that she was pregnant, she frantically wrote to Myles who made sure to be there when his child was born.

Once Grayson was born both happy and healthy Myles assured Adrasteia that he would return to America, get them a family visa, and bring both of them to live with him in the United States... but Myles never did.

Adrasteia was left to raise her baby boy on her own. She took her time to make sure that he was the best that he could be, and that he would grow up to be both intelligent and kind. She took him on frequent trips to the beach to make sure he connected with his culture, where she taught him to surf, swim, and dive. She also taught him Greek so he could stay connected to his home. She spent countless hours reading him classic works of literature, different religious texts, and fun adventure books to make sure her son ended up well rounded.

When Grayson turned 13, Adrasteia was notified by Grayson’s school that they could no longer have him as a student since he had surpassed even their high school curriculum. Hence, she decided to send him to Japan to live with her sister and her sister's family so he could get his higher education and be challenged academically. This is where Grayson proved to his family that they had not wasted their resources on him since he flew through his University coursework and earned his Masters as soon as he turned 21.

During that time Grayson deeply connected with one of his professors where she made sure to push him to be the best that he could be despite his father leaving and how he was uprooted from his home at such an important time in his life. This professor inspired Grayson to become that person for someone else. A teacher who knew how to push students just enough in the right direction to reach their fullest potential. Now, Grayson is challenging himself to get both of his PhD’s before his 24th birthday to prove to himself that he is able to become an excellent teacher while still challenging himself intellectually.

Extra

Additional notes about your application (if any): I will be out of town from July 3rd-13th and again August 7th-11th. I may still be able to get on but it is best to note the times that I may be unable to be online for extended periods of time. Also, please note, the degree time frame is heavily inspired by my own since if all goes according to plan I will have my MD at 24.

Do you have any questions?: Would Philosophy be filed under the HD of Sociology? Since the two subjects go hand in hand?
