You know, normally I would save my energy and not create a post regarding time spent on the server, though sincerely playing since 2015 I have really thought about how long I have been playing for and the reasons behind why. Firstly lets get started with how it began, I joined the server somewhere late 2015, possibly November-December. The server around this time was freshly started, couple of months by my understanding and simply was unusual. Everything was not setup correctly; though given the time that this server released and the era it was in we can all say that it was never thought of been to be properly made.

I was pretty clueless; around this time I had only been playing Minecraft for a few years and I had a pretty reputable experiences with past servers I had joined previously. I joined SchoolRP to manually escape and set aside my bareness reeling in from the Real Life world. I found myself a skin on Skindex and got started; began "Roleplaying" even though at the time it was mainly just chatting, yelling, improperly playing the game. I remember that there was this park almost in the center of the spawn, and I had enjoyed running around it for hours. This was the very spot I met my few friends which I am still in contact with today. We would eventually get in a Skype call and talk for hours and hours, simply just messing around and fooling with others on the server. We would rush into the girls dorm rooms and run out; go to the KFC and beg for food.

Further down the road we all decided to take a break as our fun had depleted. Entirely I thought nothing of it; just a normal server that I had joined, lost interest in, and would eventually forget about. That was not the case as a couple years later I found myself rejoining. Around this time the server itself has changed drastically. The map changed into a proper school and a map; something to really work with. Now this map my favorite spot was the Dojo. The Dojo was this pvp-zone which everyone would scatter around, and trample onto each-other in, and it was actually quite fun. During this time I decided to develop my pvp skills which I had; eventually I was able to climb the "Reputable" ranks. All that meant was no one wished to hop onto the dojo map because I was on. Though cosmetics were an issue; set aside the fact they gave us sticks, players found a glitch where you could obtain an axe through cosmetics. This was ground-breaking as you could easily kill someone. They added onto all of the problems by making a rule where if you died in the Dojo (dojo mat) you would lose all of your money, and items. This made it extremely risky to pvp and or have fun ever again.

They removed this; though also removed the dojo shortly after which made it a quite sad memory. I had a lot of fun on SchoolRP during those years, and many would claim they were the "Golden Years" truly they were. My personal opinion regards in the fact I find SchoolRP unredeemable. I am not hating on SchoolRP as I have played on it for countless years, parting from the fact that I have left and rejoined. I just simply find SchoolRP to have been in a rough spot for the past couple of years. I find it to of lost its spark.

I still join the server time-to-time and play on it. Though I am not attached to it, and I cannot find myself playing it for hours on end. I do keep up-to-date on updates, and changes made; though clearly some changes stated previously were never made nor are thought to of been made. I have left all of the discord servers though; and currently am only active on the forums.

The reasoning for this post is to express myself; no hate, no negativity. Just to let out my current opinion and thought about SchoolRP's current state, and how it compared to previously. I do not want to see "Well the reasoning is..." or any nonsense in the comments. I understand; and I am not going for that form of opinion-viewed.

I believe that subtly every generation of this server has felt a time where they wish to go back to "The good old days." (Even though us as a server can't exactly agree on when that year is.)
The other day I was in a call, quiet pretending I was AFK (As I often find myself doing these days, when the topic of nostalgia came up. . It was when I realised these players were relatively NEW to the server, having mostly joined in early-late 2019, they were reminiscing about times I didn't think were all that entirely special outside of the perhaps stellar events that the server hasn't seen since. Certainly not the "The good old days." though by any means. I think this server, and the MC community as a whole feel a nostalgia towards the generation they joined in.

As another player of 2015, it is with great memory and happiness I explore my past. . I still remember the majority of the usernames of my first ever friend group(s?) on the server. It was comprised of SirPanPan, Gusinq, MythicalCharm, nina_comey, commander_con, SpoodarMan, Yuuji_Kazami_, Trailguy, Vaxl_, and my dearest two of friends Bambiey (Believe it or not, I still speak to him semi-regularly till this day.) and finally iiBelovedSakura. I didn't know it then but, that would be the first of many friend groups I would have the joy of being apart of.

SRP in the beginning was never really about roleplay whatsoever, infact I agree with you that I didn't really roleplay properly until about Takeshima, or should I say Yandere High. It was, at the time about the social aspect, being in the Roleplay Network Team Speak, skyping with friends. . Discord hadn't yet become mainstream for gamers yet so it wasn't an option then . . To me, I find it odd to define when my best year of SRP was, each one has been marked by many great memories, and many grave mistakes, although with certainty I can say that 2021 . . definitely would not rank very high. SRPs issues has always changed rather casually between the generations and I'm not entirely sure what exactly hits so good about the 2015-2016 era to so many people, since mostly all I feel is sorrow when I remember that barely anyone I knew back then is still kicking, that they've all left me in pursuits of a place to call home.

I think I'll continue playing SRP until the day it closes very much regardless of it's plentiful amount of issues. I've managed to call it home since 2015 and I really wouldn't know where else I would go now. I think a fourth map would do us a lot of good around now in all honesty.

The server's broadening community can definitely feel like a slap to the face when there are groups reminiscing over events that weren't so special in veteran player eyes and recent additions that just seem like another update among all of them. I listen to my friends who have joined the server in 2019-2020 and get shocked when they haven't heard about the crane we took to the high school in Takashima or the bridge everyone would push each other off at when we were AFK. These concerns are valid and understandable too, as the differences between now and what the server was like in 2015 with Furness Academy are substantial. We've grown a lot and have had to adjust to that altogether.

I've been around for the past five-to-six years because I still find fun in the server and I've found something I can occupy myself with on it. Planning events and working with event team is my favorite thing to do on the server, alongside just roleplaying like any other player and creating some super fun stories on our own volition. I have a group of friends I have fun with nearly everyday on the server and continue to meet some amazingly creative people through them. I'm really grateful for all of this time spent, even with a few lackluster and motivation-lacking moments along the way.

When I feel like I no longer have anything to do for the server or with the server, I try to make something new out of what I've already done. It's easier said than done but working off of all the progress you've made and growing through it is such a helpful tool to have; you'll stop yourself from being stumped and you'll find a way to motivate yourself once again. Creating new characters, roleplaying with a complete stranger or someone outside of your current social bubble, applying for some role you never thought about until the day before; as long as you keep trying, you will find a point where those "golden days" resurface.

I'm having a lot more fun now than I was back in 2016 even with how iconic Takashima was. TL;DR: Keep trying new things until you find a point that you can have fun again on the server like you used to. Focus on the progress we've made as a server and how much everything has grown. This was a bit of an unnecessary rant on my own terms but I hope it helps in some way.

Takashima was the best, still.

A little input from a 2016 player...

I think what made Furness Academy more memorable to a lot of players was because of how simple it was rather than the complexity that modern SRP has. In 2015-2016 you didn't really need much to actually start socializing with people. You didn't need a fancy skin or follow really any rules, you just logged on and enjoy a more social aspect of the server with very little roleplaying besides maybe going to a classroom with a teacher and even that at times wasn't really much "Roleplay". Now if you wanna start SRP in 2021, you now need to have a Bachelor's in Graphic Design, you need to have over 20+ different SRP discord affiliations, writing any applications (expect character authorization) requires you to make what feels like a 10-page essay that needs to have a Grammarly downloaded, over 50+ rules that you have to remember, you need a skin which requires you to take commissions, know some forms of editing or having a friend give you skin or people won't even Roleplay with you, and to top it all off if you're not in an OOC clique you won't be able to have the "SchoolRP Experience".

But like anything else, it's inevitable. SRP has been around for over 6 years and just like its player base, they have gotten older with it. It happens to every RP server: From MassiveCraft to LoTC -- and as the player base gets older new issues always arise.

Though as for the golden age question of the server, for me personally, I would have to say when Im6 implemented the rule that forces Students to be in the School during school time. For the most part, SchoolRP always had an issue with actually getting players to Roleplay in the School which can be super ironic cause the server is called SchoolRP so you would expect players to want to Roleplay in School. Though during the early days really no one went to school they either stayed at KFC, or the Dorms in Furness Academy, to staying in the Family Store in Taketatsu, and on the 3rd map it feels more like the School is being more heavily emphasized than anything else, maybe staying at spawn.

Overall though for 2021 I haven't roleplayed much just checked in from time to time, and still enjoy a lot of the newer features every so often. Can't wait to see what the 4th map holds and how people react to it.

gosh, back before we had the issue of people sitting at spawn instead of being off in multiple areas of the map at once. I think the best part of the First Map was that it was able to have 4 active roleplay spots (School, KFC, Dorms, Camp) rather then just spawn & the school which the current map has. I think my biggest issue with the current map is that people don't spread themselves around evenly anymore, there's toooooo much of an emphasis on the spawn region.

I think this comment speaks directly to the majority of the major issues of 2021 era SRP.
