Describe your activity on the server:
I would consider myself as a fairly active player on SRP. I log on almost every day (give or take) after my classes. Of course, I do have other priorities, such as school and personal things. But I try my best to get on as much as possible whenever I have the time to. My current playtime is 5 weeks, and I’ve even created a schedule to get a better understanding of when I am the most active during the week, though it may vary. This doesn’t apply to holidays, as I’m generally online on those days anyway.

MONDAYTUESDAYWEDNESDAYTHURSDAYFRIDAYSATURDAYSUNDAY
5 PM - 10 PM5 PM - 10 PM5 PM - 10 PM5 PM - 10 PM5 PM - 12 AM2 PM - 1 AM2 PM - 10 PM

What is your motivation for applying?:
As of recently, I’ve found myself losing a bit of motivation for SRP, primarily because I don’t really have any strong priorities to get online for. It’s not that I am necessarily less active; rather, I just have less to do when I actually go online. So, as you may know this has led me to think about joining a faction where I can contribute more to the server and engage and interact with a whole new community of people.

Through my internship, both IC and OOC, I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of members of the KPD. This experience gave me the chance to see a whole different side of the faction—one I’ve never seen before. While the KPD initially seems very serious in their daily interactions and in what they do (and as they should), it was surprising and fun to see a whole different side that contained a lot of silly interactions with one another. It was really eye-opening and made me think more of the faction as a whole.

Additionally, I got to see how well the faction collaborates together as a team and how they plan and communicate stuff together. I can clearly tell that they made a really strong effort into making me feel more welcomed into their community, even though I was just an insecure little intern. It really made the experience incredibly enjoyable for myself and I was genuinely disappointed when the internship came to an end. Given all this, I decided I wanted to apply. I believe that joining the KPD would not only enable more experiences for myself, but also keep me engaged and entertained in a way I’ve been looking for.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?
Most of my knowledge of the KPD primarily stems from the internship I recently attended. It was a pretty structured experience involving three big events, where we got divided into two groups and participated in different activities each day. Besides these big events, we were encouraged to visit the department and interact with any of the members and shadow their work both OOCly and ICly, which I did quite often. Since I am a relatively new player to SRP, my knowledge of the KPD is limited. I applied for the internship with full honesty of not knowing much about the KPD whatsoever. Despite the short duration of only a few days, I still learned more than I expected. The internship was incredibly helpful, and I found that most aspects of it were really enlightening. Considering all of this, I’m thoroughly going to go through the internship and what I learnt along the way that helped me write this application.

The first day we were given a tour throughout the station, where we got to see how the different areas were organized. They also gave us a brief overview of the two divisions—the Main Division and the Detective Division. The main division consists of your normal officer who handles day-to-day tasks—taking reports, arresting criminals, managing desk duties and visitations, patrolling, and etc. In contrast, the Detective Division also performs these tasks but with additional tasks in mind. They are the investigative ****yzers of the team, they focus on solving cases and handling more complex tasks. Both divisions have their own advantages and play crucial roles within the KPD. After that, we went through three realistic scenarios of what the department might face on a daily basis. Each one of the scenarios began with a briefing followed by a practical application, where we were given tips and tricks on how to handle situations like these.

The first scenario we were taught how to approach a suspect who is masked and potentially armed. Upon encountering such a suspect, your first step is to unholster your taser while instructing them to face the wall. If they do not comply with your demand, you have to repeat the statement followed by the reason why they need to face the wall. If they still refuse, you must issue a final warning where you state your intention to take action. If none of that works, and they still choose to disobey your demands, it’s necessary to physically force them to the wall to subdue them, followed by swapping positions with the suspect and a thorough pat-down to ensure that they aren’t carrying any weapons. Depending on if they’re armed or not, you need to take their weapon away from their possession as well as unclipping their mask. If they happen to be carrying a weapon, such as a bat, both the mask and the bat must be examined and sprayed down for potential details of any blood or dents using luminol spray. If there are, the suspect needs to put in hand-cuffs and then be detained for further questioning. They will OOCly be given the opportunity to roll against being put in hand-cuffs whilst being detained, but failure to do so will add to their sentence with obstruction of justice. We were also taught that if a suspect is carrying a weapon such as a bat or even is masked, they need to be asked for an ID to see if it’s an illegitimate possession or not.

The second scenario involved a patrol where you see someone assaulting another individual with a bat, knocking them unconscious. If this happens, you need to immediately call for EMS for the victim who just got knocked out. Then, you need to equip your baton and dash behind the suspect. If the roll is successful, you need to hit them over the head two times successfully with your baton to subdue the suspect, which will be rolled for once again. Once successfully neutralizing the suspect, we were instructed to disarm them and drag them to a wall with our back facing it, then pat them down while also confiscating any weapons they might have and proceed with an arrest.

The third and last scenario that we went through was focused on station duty. If two criminals come running into the station with their weapons out while you’re at the desk, the first thing you need to do is initiate a lockdown by pressing on the lockdown button, which will ensure that the criminals are stuck inside the station. Then, you must radio for backup and prepare to unholster your taser. After that you need to open the door that is next to the desk and successfully tase one of the criminals down. Once you’ve used your taser, you need to go back inside, close the door and then open the door once again and attempt to tase the other criminal down as well. Once all the criminals are tased down and you’ve taken control of the situation, you need to disarm and arrest them.

After completing all of these three scenarios, we were each paired with an officer and got sent to patrol around the map. We all went together as a group but stayed extra close to our assigned officers. This was one of the longest days, filled with lots of activities, which were very rewarding.

The second day was a little bit different from the first one. We were each handed a police report about a civilian who had spotted a gang of people selling weapons. During this event our task was to go undercover for a stakeout to identify the suspects and arrest them. We were also briefed on what the procedure of conducting a stakeout is, where a detective goes and surveys an area of interest to gather more information about the report. In this case, we were to focus on the area that was mentioned in the report where the weapons were being sold. After all of this information had been fed to us, we devised a plan to be able to approach the area undercover. There were two ways we could have done this, either we could have disguised ourselves as normal civilians OR hid somewhere to stay undetected. Once we got to the area, we had one detective monitoring us while two of the other detectives decided to dress up in masks and pretend to be the two suspects mentioned in the report. We all decided that we were going to hide to remain undetected while the two suspects were interacting with each other. We listened in to their conversation while also recording on our phones to capture audio and visual footage so that we could gather enough evidence to ensure that we would be able to arrest them. Any kind of evidence was key here, such as if they were affiliated with any gang activity or if they were linked to something else that was being investigated. After gathering enough evidence we were able to proceed with the arrests and then returned to the station, where we were tasked to write a case file about the whole operation.

The third and final event was one of my personal favorites—a coordinated manhunt, where it felt like we all came closer together as a group. We got information on two suspects that we were supposed to hunt down and arrest. Then, we got divided into two groups and assigned different areas to search while a police officer was monitoring our progress, making sure we communicated well with each other in order to avoid crossing paths. After a long, extended search, we luckily apprehended the two suspects and arrested them. It was overall a really thrilling and memorable experience altogether.

Despite the fact that the internship only lasted for a few days, it was incredibly fun and interesting. I am confident that I gained and learnt a lot from this experience that would be willing to help me contribute to the KPD if given the opportunity. While my knowledge is still growing as mentioned before, I have certainly learnt more during the internship that I had known before.

Essential equipment used by KPD/EMS workers:
STUN BLASTER
A non-lethal device that emits a stunning shock causing someone to lose control of their muscles and become temporarily immobilized. All officers have access to this and it requires a roll and an action for successful use within range. It is long-ranged up to 8 blocks. Cannot be stolen. And if a hit from the stun blaster is successful, it can stun the target for up to 60 seconds.
POLICE BATON
A baton made out of steel, designed for officers to subdue criminals and suspects. You have to hit the target twice in the head to knock them unconscious successfully with the baton. All officers have access to this tool but it can be taken away with mug perms. The baton is also a close-range item, only effective within two blocks of range.
PEPPER SPRAY
A self-defense tool used to temporarily incapacitate an individual by causing intense irritation to their eyes, skin, and respiratory system. Both accessible for KPD and EMS members. It requires a successful roll to deploy in range. If it hits, the target will get blinded for up to 60 seconds unless they are wearing a gas mask. The pepper spray can’t be stolen from an officer and has a reach of two blocks.
HANDCUFFS
A set of metal restraints that are used to secure a person’s wrists together and restraining them. All officers have access to these and they require a roll and an action if the target resists being handcuffed. They can’t be stolen from the officer and are meant for immediate-range use, only effective within one block of range.
BREATHALYZER
This device is used when you need to measure an individual’s blood alcohol content, or how drunk the individual is by ****yzing their breath. It’s also known as BAC. It’s available for all officers and EMS workers, with its accuracy varying depending on how far the officer is from the station. It cannot be stolen or used offensively.
POLICE RADIO
A normal radio where you can communicate with your fellow co-workers using police codes etc, although it has its perks. It has waterproof communication for officers to stay in contact with emergency units. All officers have access to this radio and it cannot be stolen or be destroyed unless it is by a sharp or blunt weapon.
LUMINOL SPRAY
This is a pretty handy spray that is used whenever you need to detect blood stains on various surfaces, especially weapons. It is ItemRP’ed and all officers on duty have access to this spray, it cannot be stolen.
N/A
TRANQUILIZER
A tranquilizer is used whenever you need to neutralize dangerous individuals or other dangerous threats. One hit causes the target to be unconscious for two minutes. This is available to Police Sergeants and Detective Inspectors. This tool requires an action and a successful roll to be able to bring it out in range. It can be reloaded with an action and a roll as well. The weapon is long-ranged and reaches up to 30 blocks. Cannot be stolen.

Then of course we have the Commissioner!

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?
First and foremost, I believe that police play a very vital role to SRP. They serve several key functions that make the overall experience better. In my opinion, it’s a super important aspect that enables specific roleplay scenarios that wouldn’t be possible without them. Many of my friends, along with a large part of the community, already rely on CrimeRP to create more engaging experiences for themselves whenever they log onto SRP. While CrimeRP might still be possible even without a police presence, it would lack depth and realism—especially given that SRP already is a set world based on reality. CrimeRP has been around the server for quite some time but without an actual force to monitor it the place would practically be burnt down. The police faction is what controls it from getting out of hand and if there was no functioning police force, the environment would feel like some kind of chaotic dystopian world where people could just act however they wanted without consequences. While that might sound appealing to some people, it doesn’t make sense and doesn’t align with the realistic setting within SRP. The police department provides structure and it allows us to get more meaningful and dynamic roleplay experiences. Whether you’re a member of the KPD or simply just roleplaying as a normal student, you have to admit that their presence enriches the experience a bunch. It creates a community of people that makes SRP feel alive, and without KPD, the server would lack an immersive and realistic world. The same goes for the EMS faction as well, without the two factions I don’t believe it would help SRP grow.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
I fully acknowledge this and I’m prepared if there are any repercussions.

Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?
Kit shin was the more refined-looking of the Shin twins, with a sly smirk that complements his strikingly handsome, fair face—enough to captivate anyone who crosses Kit’s path. Despite his charming looks, the only spark he truly was interested enough to ignite, was the one that could make his dear mother proud. He truly was a momma’s boy. Standing at around 6 '0", he sports a strange-looking feature: a noticeable slit through his right eyebrow, an unusual mark left by none other than his mischievous twin sister, Jisoo. How the heck did that happen? On their sweet 16th birthday, Jisoo received one of her many awaited gifts: a lighter. But according to Jisoo, it was apparently not one of your ordinary lighters, it was one of those lighters that were adorned with a very cringy-looking landscape image. Anyways, in a smug moment, Jisoo decided that she was going to light the lighter right into Kit’s poor, little babyface. In a flash, the lighter seared the hairs right off his brow, literally disappearing into ashes. Kit, thinking it was just his foolish twin sister trying to impress and show off at her friends, didn’t mind it a whole bunch. Matter of fact, this new look sort of suited him in a way, with the slit blending awfully well into his unruly, grey-toned hair.

Kit usually wouldn’t describe himself as someone who dresses proper, or in the way that his parents might expect. Unlike his family, he was unconcerned with appearances as long as he felt healthy enough. He didn’t bother with unnecessarily expensive clothing or labels. And honestly, it worked out for him.

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?
Kit is one to remain composed and level-headed in usual situations. While he’s only human and not without any flaws, he tries his best to keep his emotions in check. He makes a conscious attempt to not let any minor things get to his head, though when deeply triggered, his emotions can get the best of him—something that does not happen quite often, though. Kit is the type of person to act and feel naturally reserved in how he presents himself, especially around other people. Kit grew up in a family that showed him and practiced what good and bad manners were, so the way he has been taught has always been to be mindful whenever he would find himself in social interactions—at least, that was the interpretation of what he thought good manners were.

In a casual situation, surrounded by friends, he generally feels pretty laid-back and cool. But somehow, there’s always a gnawing feeling growing in the back of his head, like he continuously thinks that something bad is going to happen to him for some strange reason, and he’s just prepared no matter what the circumstances might be. Yikes, it’s like this guy never lightens up. But this has just been ingrained into his mindset for as long as he can physically remember—whether he’s hanging out with his family or friends—and this is just something that he has grown acquainted with, it’s just become second nature to him. So, although it might seem like he never really lets his guard down, it’s just the way he’s been wired since birth. So, you can’t really fault him too much for that.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?
Kit views his coworkers as more than just simply colleagues—they’re a unit! A tight-knit team. He strives to maintain a strong communication bond with them, even if someone would leave the force. He is the type of guy to go, ’’Brothers in blue!’’ And to him, they are like family, especially since his dear twin sister is the only real family he has at the moment. Kit is aware that having each other’s backs is critical, and he does whatever it takes to maintain that relationship and loyalty—in case that he does fall hurt to someone’s actions. Kit was often seen on his best behaviour—even if it meant he would have to offer fake compliments to strengthen his trust. Trust is vital.
Kit hopes he can befriend everyone in the faction someday, he heard it helps keep the work environment up!

Now, as for teamwork…
Kit sees teamwork as an absolute necessity to be a part of the force. Going completely solo is a recipe for absolute disaster! Being a lone wolf is too risky for this job, especially in Karakura. He is well aware how important collaboration is, and how it’s the key for success. Kit continues to constantly work on improving his communication skills so he can better himself in every aspect possible. He takes pride in being someone others can count and rely on!

What's your character's backstory?
In the heart of Jeju Island, South Korea, two individuals were born on December 25, 2000—a boy and a girl: Kit and Jisoo Shin. These children had high expectations placed upon them even before birth. Kit was older by a mere 28 seconds, one strong and the other as fragile as glass.

Their parents, Eun Shin and Yun-Seo Shin, were highly valued citizens; no tax evasion was ever expected from them! Both were hardworking individuals who rarely had time for themselves, let alone their children. Eun worked steadily as a lawyer, while Yun-Seo was a full-time surgeon actively researching Alzheimer's disease.

With no other family besides the four of them, it was only natural for their parents to hire a full-time nanny. They had the money—so why not use it for something they didn’t have time for? Like raising their children!

At the age of 4, Kit and Jisoo were already taught to read! They both were exceptionally gifted for their age, clearly…. But even with that, it was still not something to be proud of, it’d take more to have their parents notice their achievements. This. . kinda started a complex in the future for the twins, an Inferiority complex.

It wasn’t until they were around 7 that they started to be around their parents more. Kit was rather close to their mother! Jisoo was fairly jealous of that at times since for some odd reason their mother treated her as the black sheep of the family. Jisoo hated the way she looked at her– It was something that constantly lingered in her mind. .
Why? Well, her mother only wanted a son, of course. Jisoo’s birth was unseen but forced upon– In Korean culture, the birth of twins was considered a bad omen. Their father was the only one that ignored such a thing and treated Jisoo with utmost care since Eun rarely spoke to her. Jisoo’s father was her biggest role model, she aspired to follow in his footsteps but more.

On their 10th birthday, it was planned to be a huge celebration for the two! By huge, it meant having a cake with candles. This would be one of the very rare moments that their family would be seen celebrating something together. For once in their lives, their parents acknowledged their special day, and the twins received the best gifts ever– a college book based on anatomy and a suture kit…. Though, there was one problem: the cake. It was Kit’s favourite flavor, not Jisoo’s. I wonder who ordered it? No, really…. It was a very small detail, but one that stung more than it should have. Their father, who was always attentive to Jisoo’s feelings, noticed the way her expression faltered. A deep pain settled in his chest which made him act without hesitation, he promised to get her a cake of her choice. Major good dad points there.
It was really a simple gesture to anyone else but to Jisoo? It was everything.
Except. . .
He never came back.
The hours passed, the celebration of the two turning into complete silence, and then. . sirens. The kind that made your stomach drop before even knowing why. Then, their house phone rang. The world around them blurred.
Yun-Seo Shin. . was dead.
Sadly, it turns out he had been mugged and murdered on his way back. Maybe it was the murderer's favourite ice cream cake flavor? Either way, it shattered the family in an instant, especially their mother and Jisoo. Sure, Kit was also in deep despair over this but he had his mother to turn to! Unlike. . Jisoo. #BadOmen.

This was something that Jisoo didn’t understand at first. She waited for hours at that same table. She waited. Waited for him to walk through the door with that warm smile, carrying her favorite cake in his hands. But he never did. And when she looked up? Their mother stood there, a pained look in her face but. . behind that look was a cold, burning stare that was set on Jisoo.

“It’s your fault.”

Woah, now that is some serious bad points to mom there. Just two simple words that lodged straight into Jisoo’s chest! That was all it took to alter a 10 year olds life forever, to change her road that she would head down. These are words that never left her, not even years later.
Her father had died because of her.
All because she wanted something for herself. Because SHE was born.
Kit was the original child. Meant to be the only child.
Jisoo was simply a leech. Something that was meant to never happen.
—-
After that night, everything had changed. Their mother never looked at Jisoo the same way again. Not like she ever favored her, she has been searching for reasons to hate her and this was more than enough. This wasn’t just disdain anymore, no. . , now it was pure, unfiltered hatred. Kit tried his best to comfort her, but no words could ever erase what had been said. It can not be forgotten.

Soon enough, her home no longer felt like home. It became a prison, where every glance that was shot at her was filled with contempt, where every achievement was ignored or only credited to her twin brother, Kit. Kit, the perfect one. The type of perfect that you wish for on a shooting star. Jisoo could not hate Kit for that though, he didn’t choose to be put in that spot. He just got lucky. Yeah, lucky.

Jisoo withdrew. That inferiority complex they both shared has been growing since childhood, now finally it took root, twisting into something darker. What’s the point of trying to impress something impossible? So, she stopped. Stopped caring. No matter what she did, it would never be enough.
However, outside of her home? That was much different. Out there, she could be whoever she wanted.

—-
As both their parents dreamed for; Kit grew into their role–responsible, well disciplined, following in their father’s footsteps in the best way he knew how. He wanted to be the kind of person who could stop things like this from happening. Maybe. . he could save someone else's father one day.

Jisoo? She had no such ambitions.

Two that used to be so alike, now stand as polar opposites.

Unlike Kit, she started skipping school, falling in with the wrong type of people. People who also did not care about things like morals or family expectations. People who taught her that in this sick world, the strong take what they want, and the weak? The weak get left behind, of course. And Jisoo refused to be weak ever again.

It first started small with petty shoplifting, picking fights, and testing the limits. But soon, it escalated.
She found a strange sense of belonging in the underworld, a place where no one called her a mistake. Where no one looked at her with disappointment.

At the age of 16, Jisoo became feared in her school.
Rumors spread around that maybe she was the one who murdered her father. A sick rumor. Soon enough, the school took notice, ordering her to go through counseling or therapy where she was diagnosed with. . Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). It wasn’t something that ran in the family, it was gained through her childhood.
The only person she cared for remained to be Kit.

Whilst Jisoo was struggling with life and her own mental health, Kit was working his hardest through school and deciding on what work path to go through. Then it hit him, a police officer. He would stop stuff like this from happening to someone else. Stop stuff like this that made people into what Jisoo now was. A great stress was left on Kit. Having to worry about getting through school and also making sure the well being of his sister was okay. His mother was no help with any of that but he still loved her! #AlwaysAMommasBoy.

Before they knew it, they both graduated through highschool at 18!! Woohoo!! Not like Jisoo showed up to the ceremony. Celebrations aren’t her thing, y’know, dead dad and all that. It’s not like Jisoo has been home anyways, the girl quite literally stopped coming home once she was diagnosed with ASPD. Though, she always visited her brother! It’s just that. . no one knew where she truly lived!!

After everything, Kit worked his way into uni!! When he finally got that bachelors he dreamed of having and then after having a long talk with his twin sister, Jisoo. . , they both decided to move down to Karakura, Japan! Jisoo was more than happy to do so, whereas Kit was a bit saddened to leave their mother behind. Now the two both live together again while Kit tries his best to get that job he has been wanting!
Jisoo has no plans of getting a job, she has simply stated, “I have no reason for material possessions or money.”

General knowledge

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
Fortunately, pocket knives are not legal on Karakura Island. They are considered illegal weaponry in every case. The only legal weapon you can own in this case is the metal bat or a pipe wrench.

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
The most commonly bought medical items without a prescription are definitely paracetamol, iron supplements and multivitamins. Wooden canes and cough syrup can also be held with no prescription.

Paracetamol - ¥1,500
Iron Supplements - ¥2,500
Multivitamins - ¥3,500
Wooden Canes - ¥7,000
Cough Syrup - ¥6,000

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
First and foremost it would be important for Kit to step in and make sure both the co-worker and inmate are alive and well. Afterwards, confronting the co-workers about this interaction would definitely be in order, along with an explanation from them. In the end, Kit would report this to a higher-up regardless of the circumstance and offer to help in the future.

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
Seeing this happen, Kit would take no time to step in the situation at hand. Staying calm is important, and at that, Kit would do his very best to stop the altercation though this can be in different situations, with weapons or none. Either way, at the end, he would make sure his colleague is okay and have them checked out at the hospital in case.

With weapons:
Will broadcast for backup immediately! All information will be given to them about what is happening. Kit would make sure to state if the weapons are blunt or sharp so they know what they are getting themselves into. Once backup is there, the armed criminals would be surrounded with tranquilizers and tasers and yelled at to drop their weapons. If they do not listen and continue to do what they are doing then they will be tranqed / tased and then searched. Once all is done, they will be charged with assault on a government worker and more to come, depending on what they had on them and if they tried to evade or not.

Non weapons:
They would all be yelled at to get on the wall and to step away from the officer whilst also having his taser out! Backup will also be called for incase they refuse to listen to the first verbal warning where Kit would tell them they will be tased if they continue on. After all have been searched and backup shows up, they will be charged accordingly - Assault on a Government Worker.

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
The most appropriate action for Kit would be to inform a higher-up of the concern right away and make sure to provide all the information: which officer, what evidence you have, and any other details that led to this assumption. He would never try to confront the issue himself, or else it might backfire on him! Which, would not be good at all.

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
Kit would immediately deny the offer and fine them for Bribery, no exceptions. Shin sees no purpose of giving them a verbal warning for this since he believes in ‘common sense’. Though he would be flattered to be known as someone that’s easy-to-manipulate.
