What's the title of your suggestion?: Dynamic Light Handheld Items

What's your suggestion?:
I think quite some items could benefit for many people to be something of the following list instead of an Iron Horse Armor:
1. (any) Torch
2. Blaze Rod
3. Blaze Powder
4. End Rod
5. basically any item that usually provides light in minecraft

I can imagine that many people play with some Dynamic Lights mod and items like:
1. Mobile Phone
2. GPS
3. Digital watch
4. Flashlight
5. anything with a screen or that would give some amount of light in real life...

Would look WAY better for the (likely) large amount of people using DynamicLight mods
In case of the flashlight (I assumed that police have an item like this) it would even be beneficial for roleplay

It could even be considered to implement a custom DynamicLight plugin that attempts to place (a fake) light level block at the players location

How will this benefit the server and community?:
- Just something small to change in the resource pack with huge benefits for likely many people
- Makes the night also more interesting for people

If I remember correctly, the flashlight item uses a torch as its base material (specifically the turned-on variant), so this is definitely possible. My main concern is that the dev team would need to either:
  • Provide a migration command that updates the material of said light-emitting items, or...
  • Ensure that the custom items plugin automatically updates the item's material when interacted with.
Ontop of this, there are hundreds of privately-owned custom phones. I assume manually migrating them all is going to be kind of tedious without querying for a name like "phone" or "flip phone" (or any other common item tags).

I’m not entirely sure how light handling works, but one possible solution could be to assign these items to a special custom type that automatically generates a light block dynamically. I don’t know how resource-intensive this idea might be, but it would make it so it's no longer necessary to manually migrate these items or require players to install third-party mods.

With all this said, it's a +1 from me so long as it's feasible!

Thank you for your suggestion!

- We may make this function in-game, however we wouldn't implement something like this if it requires a non-vanilla client/mod to use it. We intend to remain 100% vanilla, no mods required.
