Nineteen, and College Bachelor.

What is your motivation to lead a club within the school?
I have been in the jock scene since I was a cheerleader in high school. The team dynamic is something I’ve grown to love, however I’ve also had a passion for music since I was a child. I suppose that is why I’ve been a cheerleader for so long, but that focus is on the dancing and less on the music behind it. With each routine I completed, I started to miss the aspect of making and performing music along with it, which stemmed from this idea for a Music Club. Bands in this town come and go, get hype and then die out slowly. It’s unfortunate to see that music is what brings people together, and yet, hardly gets a platform. There is something about getting together with the community and listening to music, laughing and building relationships that last and that is what Music Club would be all about; building community outside of the rivalry that divides our school in half.

With that being said, some of the most successful school events include live performances which are typically done by cheer teams. However, wouldn’t some live music add to the atmosphere and overall experience of school events? If there is a themed dance, that music can be catered toward whatever the coordinators wish! Not only this, but Music Club will bring the school to life with music and performances that are for all to enjoy. It would welcome those who have wished to be a part of a band, the opportunity to have the structure and stage to do so.

I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together, on teams, in town and even within my own friend groups. The opportunity to start a club that offers the same thing to those who may not know how to do it excites me. The school scene gets so cliquey between your average students, jocks and council members. With this club, it could act like a melting pot for the entire school where everyone can come together under one thing: the appreciation of music.

Why choose you over other candidates applying for this position?
My connections. I’ve been in town for over a year and I can confidently say that I have friends everywhere. I’m friends with bobcats, spartans, councilors and other club leaders which is what actually inspired me to apply for this. It gets difficult to maintain relationships when rivalry is always brewing, but what better than music to bring everyone together? If something needs to get done, people come to me; their problems, messes and more. I solve them. If this club is going to be successful it needs someone who can bring the school together with passion leading its momentum. That’s me.

In addition to this, my experience and passion with music is something that will help me lead the club in the right direction. Leadership is not something I am unfamiliar with as I assist in my families business in Brazil. Here in Karakura however, I have hosted many practices, planned events and more within the teams I have been on. I can confidently say that I am just the right pick for the leader of this club.

Music Club

Provide a small summary of your club:
While different variations of “Music Club” have been proposed, this one focuses primarily on learning how to play and perform instruments in groups. The idea is that the club will act as a whole when learning about music and making decisions, however, it will be broken down into four different “bands” that specialize in different genres and types of performances. The smaller groups will practice their own instruments and performances for various events for the school.

Provide one school-wide event that your club may host
Battle of the Bands
What brings a community together more than a little bit of friendly competition? The idea of this event is that ‘Music Club’ will do a few opening shows before a battle of the bands where anyone with a school-tag gets to form a band and compete for a prize! Ideally this event would be posted far in advance to give participants time to write and create a performance. It would allow for the school to come together, looking forward to the same event all while making their own performance. Working with both the event and build team, a stage could be built with an audience, and maybe even have some fun booths as well. Once each band has gone, a panel of judges (Music Club) will vote on who had the best one. Not only will this help people learn more about the club, but also give them a taste of what the club is all about!

From an OOC standpoint, I would utilize google forms and sheets to keep all of the information together and work closely with the event team and build team so that everything runs smoothly.

Provide one flash event that your club may host
Flash Mob - Name that Tune
Imagine a busy day within the front of school, jocks huddled near the bleachers and students walking through the campus when all of a sudden music begins to blare into the space. The club would prepare music, actions and movements beforehand and run through a practice a couple of times far in advance. When everybody is ready, the entire club will spring into action and begin a flash mob, drawing crowds to the front of the school. SLT could do an announcement about it as well, sharing that something strange is happening in the front of the school. I think that it would inspire more people to start bands and even consider joining the club as well.

The performance itself may be short, however, afterward the club would offer a name that tune game where they would give clues to a song, or artist and people guess for a small prize!

Provide one club activity that your club might host
Riff-Offs
For a special club event, the members will form groups to start a riff-off(a singing competition where performers or groups take turns quickly responding to each other with songs). Each entry connects to the previous one through lyrics and themes while showing off creative writing, quick thinking and deeper understanding of music.

Example:
Team A: “Rolling in the Deep”
Team B: “Deep Blue Something”
Team A: “Something in the Way”

The teams would go back and forth until one team was left standing as the winner of the challenge! Throughout the activity there will also be different themes that change so people have some options. In the end everyone will come out with fresh ideas for performances and fun songs.
