The Karakura Mansions
With the newest addition of three mansions at the back of the Shopping District in Shōtengai. With three different families that each have their own beautiful personality and backstories. I’ve gone and spoken to individuals from each family. With the three families being Baek, Heddo and Nakazumi. With each exterior being different from one another, however, the only interior I was allowed to view was the Baek Mansion.

I spoke with both Nikolai Baek and Dae-Hyun Baek!

"We start. . now, right here. Right across from the entrance is the ‘formal’ living room. Fun fact, it’s called formal because. . It doesn’t have a TV! How crazy is that? Having an object of significant worth reduces it into an informal living room. . What a contro- dict-. . contra. . contraband. . . ."
"It is quite lovely, it reminds me of some of the buildings I had seen whilst in Korea. That is quite interesting, sweetie."
"Mhm! We are a Korean family afterall, ehe! Annyeonghaseyo My great grandmother wished for the family home in Karakura to resemble home. She still lives at our estate in Seoul, but she often visits Karkura from time to time! She funded this after all!"
"I am certain she is a lovely lady. Then the next room?"
"Right this way, sir. Right across would be the Rec Room. Which is now missing the billiard table now that I look at it. . Still moving!"
[!] A brief cut in the audio. [!]
"Again, we’re still moving in so there are lots of empty spaces. In fact, if you think about it, this entire mansion retains family history! The mansion is meant to act as a Summer Home kinda thing!"
"This home is quite beautiful. Surprising that it is a simple Summer Home."
"Thank you sir! Please free roam and stop at any part you feel most curious about!"
[!] The recording came to an end! [!]
Afterwards! I roamed around and took plenty of photos and then had a private conversation with Dae-Hyun Baek!
[!] A recording began! [!]
"Right, I’d like to know about your family. About your background that is, and what brought you here to Karakura and the relations you uphold here."
"The Baeks as you have been told are from Seoul, South Korea. A few members of our family were on a- trip of sorts to mainland Japan and discovered the island while in Tokyo. As you see, the family clearly has money and quite the expansive bloodline. We are a well known family back home, we have many members with well known or important jobs. Actors, Government, Military, you name it we have a member who is it. I’m not sure that relations we are going to uphold here but we are looking to keep our popular and familiar views the same here as back home."
"I see, I must say you and your family seem to be lovely people. I couldn’t be more honored to spend time with you all and be let into your house."
"The pleasure is all ours, we love socializing, and that event stands for our more antisocial members as myself. My cousin Eliko also prides herself in the house as she is the one who spent most time decorating and designing the home itself."
"I believe I caught a glimpse of her whilst I was there. She seemed like a kind soul, I am glad to have met you all and hope to continue socializing with you all in the future."
"Of course, you seem to be lovely company, thank you Mister Camelia."
[!] The recording came to an end! [!]
Speaking with both the family was quite a fun time! I found myself feeling as if I had lived with them my whole life! Each of them has their own welcoming personalities and positive things to say! Of course I couldn’t forget Nikolai being a fan of the news! Hello Nikolai! When speaking with Dae-Hyun, it seemed that the family is both well known in Karakura as well as Korea! Being within each corner of the country from modelling to governors!

I was capable of speaking with Yaban Heddo!
[!] A recording began! [!]
Reisō Camelia | Yaban Heddo
"Alright, well. I should’ve introduced myself, my name is Reisō Camelia. I am a Senior Reporter here at Karakura News."
"Pleasure to meet you.. Yaban Heddo, which you know."
"The pleasure is all mine. Now I have just I just haave one question. Well, I guess it could be answered in a set. I’d like to know about your family and its background. SO, what brought you family to Karakura, and the relations you uphold here."
"The Heddo Family? We never moved to Karakura. We was born and raised here due to my mother’s heritage. She comes from the Takgai Family, married into Heddo. My family is mostly medical based, but we have the odd one in Policing or Government."
"Any connections that you all have outside of Karakura?"
"Connections? I mean, we all have our own connections and Jobs. I travel out of Karakura a lot for my job, I know my Mother tends to reside in Tokyo sometimes, but each family member is different. We all live in town though most of the time."
"I see, would there be anything else you would like to add? Whether it be something you’d wish for the public to know about the town. Or possibly an accessory that your family wears in public to identify themselves?"
"We don’t wear anything to identify ourselves, but it’s pretty easy to identify us due to our blonde hair and green eyes which isn’t common for an average Japanese person. Everything else? They can befriend us and find out. Some bite some don’t."
"That’s beautiful sweetheart."
[!] The recording came to an end! [!]
While speaking with Yaban Heddo, I found her personality quite interesting! She is a quiet person with a gentle personality! She was very open about her family, stating that they had been born in Karakura when her mother married a Heddo. Where they slowly came to popularity within the medical field of Karakura, with the few oddballs being in the Police Department or involved with the Government!

I was capable of interviewing Royki Nakazumi and Kogoro Moguro Nakazumi!
[!] The recording began! [!]

"Right! I’d like to know a small background about your family! Seeing you all have a Mansion here in Karakura! I’d like to know just what brought you here?"
"Ah, yes- my grandfather bought a mansion, it’s still under construction. But it already looks stunning! Ah I moved here to open my shop, it was my dream to open a lovely and cut shop!"
"Did your grandfather move here first? Or did he perhaps move from somewhere?"
"Yes, he moved here first- maybe around the 2000s, I’ve heard before."
"And what was your family doing prior to Karakura?"
"My grandfather opened Henki-Do before Karakura, being a merchant, an old profession of his, and I learned under him before opening my own shop."

"I’d like to know your families history within this town, and how you all have come to influence."
"Yous’ be busy for a few minutes."
"Whenever you are ready, sir."
"Themes’ unremarkable- quite unremarkable-. Wes’ made businessh with people on tis’ island- me anceshtors’ at leasht."
"I hope I am not interrupting anything."
"Them’ Nakazumi’ jus’ started movin’ away from em’ northern fields. Yous’ are not botherin’- just layin’ down h’where wes’ Nakazumis got us entangled in them Izu Karakura islands and them local business."
"I see… Hello-."
"Tis’ reporter ere’ s’ been stirred by them new land developmentsh."
"New land developments..?"
"As I said- yous’ might notice from me tōhoku dialec’ that us’ Nakazumis’ originally had’ property back in them up north. We’s had some’ roots in…. Vegetables… Salts… N’ all them dirts of varied kinds."
"So you all came over from up North, and started business by originally being salt farmers and other variants?"
"More’ em’ shweet potatoes- an’ root vegetables… An’ me anchestor’ Kento shtarted bartein’ in them House in the middle of em’ town… Tis’ why we got them name Nakazumi from the Meiji reform. Means’ “House in the Middle”. Hrmmm- anyhow- wes’ got rich of bartein’ good back in Edo. Me great gran’parents’ h’where good with keepin books and ledgers an’ all that. And avoidin’ taxes, hr hr hr."
"And where did this all begin? Japan correct?"
"Hrmm, hm."
"What part?"
"Northern’ Hokkaido"
"Of course, how would you say your family has influenced modern day Karakura?"
"Modern? Since’ em 2000’s I’d say. I took over tis’ old shack of hustlers’ nightmare back in 1999… Tis’ h’was notion more than a legal letter that got flushed into our mail box when me n’ me wife came to check this trump out. Ever since’ I’ve been sellin’ Edo blades’ ‘n Gameboys. But mosht’ of all- tis’ shop gave me the opportunity ta’ send me grandkids to college an’ ta have me educated."
[!] The recording came to an end [!]
Where to start with the Nakazumi’s! Out of the two I’ve spoken with, I’ve befriended one and learned to never try and bargain with the other. Both are lovely people who have beautiful personalities. The family had started up North selling vegetables, salts and varieties of sales. The name Nakazumi meaning “The House in the Middle”. Then of course, Henki-Do. A store that Mister Kogoro had been working in since he was a boy, eventually working his way up to owning the store. Selling things from Edo blades to gameboys. It is quite the interesting story to listen to. All in all, I’d recommend stopping by and visiting the store to see the man yourself! He's quite the enigma!
Summary:
With the town's new introductions of mansions. It has become clear that the families that own them are each worthy of owning them in their own special and unique way. From having a deep rooted history in Karakura, to having powerful influence in Korea, and even just an old mom and pop business that has flourished to one of the town’s most popular stores. I’d like to personally thank the Heddo, Nakazumi and Baek Families for their hospitality and warm welcoming!
