Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?

Overall, the school faction is the main faction of all of the factions. While it being the first place most everyone roleplays in, it’s easy to find a class to attend! The faculty and staff team of the school in character leads to roleplay opportunities and networking that might’ve not been able to be achieved if it hadn’t existed. Everyone needs a starting point and with teachers hosting classes and interacting with students, it provides that. The true heart of SRP is the school faculty and members in it. Most everyone has at least one character engaged in the school part of the server, making it the most active and enjoyable, thriving in events and experiences.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?
I acknowledge that if I’m inactive I may lose my role. I plan to be extremely active.

Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?
I agree to undergo training if my application is accepted and look forward to it!

What's your character's full name?
A warm smile crossed her face, displaying her small dimples. She crossed her legs professionally as she put her hands on her lap. A joyful sigh came out of her as she graciously answered, “My name is Soo-ah Kimura.”

What is your character's nationality?
“My father was Japanese, and my mother was Korean, so I’m Japanese and Korean!” She grinned, seemingly loving to talk about her past and nationality.

What is your preferred subject to teach?
“I’d love to teach students art.” Soo-ah gave a small nod, happy with the idea that she’d get an opportunity to teach students about something she enjoyed.

Describe your character:

Soo-ah is a thirty-eight-year-old woman with dirty blonde hair that falls down in wavy locks, looking very recently bruhsed and fluffed out. The woman's hazely-brown eyes glow in the sun and express her emotions often, as she interacts and enjoys others' company. Small dimples on the sides of her cheeks give her a cheeky and joyful look when she grins, along with the coffee that’s usually somewhere near her. The woman often smells like coffee beans, from her frequent coffee runs. Each step she takes is with an unsaid confidence and self-security.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?

Soo-ah treats students and co-workers with as much respect as she treats herself with, which is a lot. She sees each person as their own, making sure everyone’s opinion gets expressed. Though she may talk to students differently and be less personal with them, she still enjoys the time she spends with students and the ability she has to teach. The chance to sit down and talk with a co-worker in the breakroom excites her, and she’d often ask how someone's day was or what kind of coffee they enjoyed starting a meaningful conversation.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?

Soo-ah grew up teaching her younger sibling how to navigate the world, especially helping her since she was deaf. She loved being able to teach her younger sister Yoon-Seok different ways to learn at her own pace, instructing her patiently. Through years of teaching, Yoon-Seok and her sister got very close. At the same time, she’d guide younger kids in swimming lessons, assuring they were happy and healthy in the way they learned. This helped her to understand children and their thinking process better, helping her be able to teach to this day.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?

Soo-ah would make sure that every other student had what they needed to start their assignments or activity for the day, then walk over to the student to provide them with the education they needed to perform at the same level as every other student. Soo-ah would repeat what she’d said to the student, then ask what they were confused on. When she knew the information, she'd provide further instruction or explanation to aid them in their art!

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?

Soo-ah would acknowledge the situation, providing a stern verbal warning to the student, then attempting to go back to teaching. If that didn’t work, she’d go over to them and set a detention on their desk, explaining why she had to do this and what they’d done wrong, so they didn’t feel entirely lost to why they were receiving a detention. Soo-ah wouldn’t want other students to distract others and create a negative learning environment.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Sock Puppets
In this class students will need:
A clean sock provided, a marker of any color(s), and scissors!
“To start off, slide the sock over your non-dominant hand. Once you have, feel free to decorate it in any way you see fit, coloring on it with your marker for a face or design, or even drawing a layout to cut out with a pair of scissors! Make it unique and your own. I'll be walking around to see your beautiful sock puppets!”

Bracelet Making
In this class students will need:
Beads of their choosing, string, and scissors!
"In preparation to start making your bracelet, you'll need to wrap a piece of string loosely around your wrist, cut the bit of the string off when it feels correct. If you need help, please tell me! Push the beads you've chosen onto the string then tie it off at the end when you've finished! I'll be around for you to show me."
Popsicle Stick Figures
In this class students will need:
Popsicle sticks, markers, glue, tape, and pipe cleaners!
“To assemble your popsicle man, you need to take each popsicle stick and glue them together. Feel free to give him a body, head, arms, and legs! You may use scissors to cut the pieces to fit correctly. And, he deserves a face! Don’t forget to give him a face, drawn on! As well as making clothes for your popsicle man with pipe cleaners!
