Describe your activity on SchoolRP:

I’ve been constantly active ever since I rejoined around I’d say two months ago! It’s been about a month since I’ve gone back to IRL college, but even with the busy work and real life time complications, I find myself often coming back nearly each day of the week to play SchoolRP because, in short, I’m addicted. I love to roleplay, and with SchoolRP being such a strong and consistent community, I always find new and exciting people to talk to! So yeah, I’m a frequent player who comes on often.
Describe your roleplay experience with SchoolRP and other roleplay networks in general:
I used to come around 2017, which was when I was obsessed with Minecraft roleplay. I used to get on SRP and play for a few hours before heading off to play on medieval-focused servers that offered roleplay as well. Back then, I’d say I accumulated around 3 - 4 days' worth of playtime before I came back to play for the two months I’ve returned. Moving on to more recent times, once I rejoined SchoolRP, I ran right back into the academic scene. It was more of a fun nostalgia movement to delve into, but it stuck with me, and I found myself coming back for more and more. When I came back into SRP, I started off as a new character named Adrian Hope, a young Filipino male who moved to Japan because his father was relocated for a job position. He moved into the new scene with his sister Anastasia Hope, a stark contrast to his own complexion, but their bond connected closer than one could ever imagine. I started on the server with a heavy focus on FamilyRP. A lot of my time initially focused on Adrian and Anastasia spending time and bonding over exploring the town together. I always leaned towards slice of life genres, both in roleplays and media that I enjoy heavily. I knew it was what I wanted to focus on when I started making friends in SchoolRP and started revolving Adrian’s persona to be a super hospitable and extroverted character. I don’t know what you'd call it, FriendRP? A lot of my experience with SchoolRP has just been befriending people and getting chances to outreach Adrian to build bonds that meant something rather than just another hello and goodbye. I have had some other experiences in the server with different forms of roleplay, some of it being GangRP, but I’ve fallen off from that recently because I’m not a large fan of the intricacies of it all. It gets a lil confusing for someone who likes more chill and relaxing life roleplay. Besides Family&FriendRP, the other roleplay experience I enjoy heavily is just AcademicRP. Attending classes, participating in school, trying out for clubs, sports, and attending fun events like the recent Ren Faire that I loved so much! That’s what I find the most joy in. Another big reason I’m excited to apply for a professor position!
What are your current roles on SchoolRP:
[Grade-12] Isidro Baquiran (Applying on!)
[Grade-12] Adrian Hope
[Grade-12] Callisto Sorrow
[Grade-12] Evangeline Bautista
[Rabbit] Jupiter F. Hope
What is the subject you want to teach?:
Literature - Poetry
TRIVIA SECTION
What is your motivation for becoming a professor?:
As I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve actually come back to SRP after taking a long break from playing for a bit back in 2017. Things are so different now, but I still have that same aspiration to teach as I’ve always wanted to 8 years ago! It’s kinda cringey, but after I got on for the first time, one of the first things I did was make a forum account and then make a teacher application. Though that account is long gone, I have no info for it, but that’s besides the point. A part of it also comes through some deep, real-life motives. I’m actually going to IRL college for a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, then also going in for a teacher’s certification so I can teach art through a K-12 grade level, hopefully coming back to learn my Master's to teach at a college level. So, from my previous ambitions to become a teacher, to now chasing that dream I have, I guess it all translates to me wanting to become a Professor in-game. I really do love the academic and slice-of-life aspects of SchoolRP. Though other factions amaze me, such as reporter and doctor, the role of professor/teacher is just so enticing to my personal desires because of my intense desire to become a part of an academic team!
Work out two interactive classes you will host if accepted:
Most of my classes will follow a class format that involves a small lecture towards the beginning and then an interactive activity that will have the students do classwork that's involved with the lesson plan after. I’m following this teaching and think this format will really help with interactive roleplay, DetailRP opportunities, and to better understand the homework I assign after class!

I’m following this teaching and think this format will really help with interactive roleplay, DetailRP opportunities, and to better understand the homework I assign after class!
- 5 - 7 - 5: A Traditional Formation to Poetry - Starting with the lecture, I would begin by asking the class if anybody knows what a Haiku is. Moving more into asking if anyone can give me a general feeling of what it is and why it’s different compared to other poem types out there. Then I’d continue into the lecture by taking my student back into the history of Haikus and their impact on literature and poetry throughout time. Then we’d transition into a writing exercise. After explaining that a Haiku follows through a 5 - 7 - 5 syllable formatting, I’d hand out books to each one of my students. The assignment is to then write out your own haiku, submitting it to the professor at the end of class. If some people wish to present their work, explaining the meanings afterward, Isidro would be more than happy to allocate class time for each person’s own expression of literature.
- Writing with Emotion, Alluding to the Unsaid - Rather than discussing direct poetry, Isidro starts off the lecture by inviting students to listen to his story. He’d take a small portion of the class to recite a narrative that would evoke a specific emotion, such as love, longing, hatred, or sadness. After the story ends, he’d ask the class, from his story, what emotion did they feel the most? After hearing them call out the feeling in unison, he’d explain that, in many forms of media, emotions are easily portrayed in ways that don’t have to explicitly state that feeling is there, introducing metaphor and indirect expression in writing! He’d then follow the usual formatting of classes, handing out empty books to students to have them get to work! Having students think of an intense emotion, Isidro would explain that they would have to write out poems that follow the themes of alluding a reader to feelings through a “show, not tell” method. Dive into their feelings! Show off true emotion without directly telling the viewer it’s there. Then, of course, if some people wish to present their work, Isidro would be more than happy to allocate class time for each person’s own expression of literature.
Work out a field trip (meaning a class outside school grounds) you will host if accepted:
Although it’s the very classic and obvious answer, I’d take the class over to a trip to the Karakura library under Apartment Block S! On the far right, there’s a whole section based on poetry within the shelves. Right behind those columns is a large circle staged with a cozy seating section in front of it. I’d have the class look over the books of poetry on the shelves and even research on the library computers if they liked. In the second half of the class, I’d let volunteers walk up onto the stage and present their poetry through fun and expressive means, interpreting the internal messages and portraying them in the ways that the reader would expect the poem to be expressed. Then I’d give homework asking about what poems they read, what emotions they invoke, and why.
SCENARIO SECTION
Your character would encounter a group of college jocks surrounding a bobcat jock, what would your character do?
Isidro raised an eyebrow as his eyes glanced between the jocks in a circle. Wondering just what exactly was going on, he’d tilt his head to the left, holding up a radio as he spoke into the line. Informing the other professors of the incoming situation, he’d walk over and scope it out himself. He’d join the jocks with a casual smile on his face. Nothing too stern, nothing too loose.
“Hey guys, what’s goin’ on over here?” He’d nod to the college jocks, leaning his head forward to make eye contact with every one of them. His eyes finally resting on the bobcat jock situated in the middle.
“We’re not gettin’ into trouble, are we?”
He’d continue to hold that gentle smile, listening to each of the students speak. Nodding as each jock gave their own frantically made-up version of an explanation to cover their behinds. Maybe this wasn’t their fault, maybe it was. Isidro would take the time to get the full picture. After all, jumping to conclusions was far beyond him. He’d look over the students themselves, watching their knuckles for bruises, faces for blatant marks and scruffs. Things that gave away details that would never be confessed by words. After all, his pupils in the Philippines weren’t always the calmest bunch. Who's to say it’d be any different here?
After listening to both sides, Isidro would listen to his judgment. If things were too complicated, too cloudy, he’d easily be able to make a decision after observing CCTV footage from the cameras in the hallway. That is, if he didn’t threaten to resort to such means already. The rest is standard procedure. Handle the wrongdoers, make them get detention! Attend to the needy, help them, and aid in support when needed!
Your character would be supervising detention, one of the students constantly disturbs by asking stupid questions, what would your character do?
Isidro stood firm at the front, his eyes scanning across the few students who sat in the desks of the detention room. His ears would perk up at the sound of one of the students asking questions towards the teachers, his head tilting over to glance at him. It seemed fine at first, but one question turned to another and another and another. . . He’d look over to his fellow teachers and professors, waiting to see if they’d act first. After speaking with his eyes, Isidro would sigh, stepping forward towards the student to talk to him directly.
“Look, bud, I understand things might not make sense or seem confusing, but just try what you can, and if things still don’t make sense, I can help you after you’ve at least gotten things down.”
He’d scan the student’s face, looking for facial clues that would reveal the student’s intent. Whether they’d be trolling or just outright confused, Isidro would deal with them accordingly. If actually needing assistance, Isidro would be open to answering all questions, helping where he can. But if the student was there to mess around and waste time, Isidro wouldn’t be afraid to threaten to bring SLT in for a little chat, ringing them in if needed.
Your character would be hosting a class, and a group of cheerleaders keeps on playing songs on the phone and calling out other students in the class, what would your character do?
Isidro usually has patience when it comes to problems and conflicts between students within his class but interruptions and distractions are where he crosses the line. He’d call them out, glaring at each of them.
“I understand that sometimes classes can be tedious, but please don’t interrupt it all for the others who wish to listen and learn. . .”
He’d resume, continuing the lesson plan and class. If things continued and interruptions didn't stop he’d have no option other than to give them detention and send them out of class immediately.
Your character would be walking on the school perimeter and encounter a fight between a couple of students, your character tried to break it up but it didn't help, what would your character do?
“Students, please! We can solve this without violence, stop fighting, or I’ll have no choice-”
Isidro would be calling out to the students fighting in front of him, his words bouncing off them like glue to rubber. Nothing stuck. He wasn’t a tall guy, nor was he strong, but he knew he’d have the power to get others in for help. He’d hold his radio, calling over the line that a fight was breaking out and calling for backup.
“STOP! If you continue, I’ll have no choice but to give you detention! And if this continues, I won’t hesitate to call SLT! SO STOP NOW!”
If things continued from there and the fighting didn’t stop, he’d do just as he said, giving them detentions and radioing SLT to discipline them accordingly.
CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. What do they look like? What makes them unique and different? What is their outlook on students? What about the other teachers? What is their personality like? What is their plan for the future?
So this might be a LITTLE TMI, but Isidro Baquiran is a character who I really wanted to reflect my IRL future when I become a teacher/professor and teach the arts. He’s a Filipino male with saturated tanned skin and light peachy blonde hair, warm olive eyes that seemed inviting and comfy. A man who had no intimidating aura around him, yet held a status that had people believe he wasn’t a man to (negatively) mess around with. A loose, woodsy brown shirt with deep green dress pants that complemented his palette, Isidro Baquiran was a man fit to lead scholars towards success. Isidro has grown up leading a kind and patient stride in his life, following in the footsteps of his past influencers. He looked up to the elders in his past, teaching him the virtues and benefits of being the good man he’s become today. Quick to listen to both sides, ready to reach out and aid those who needed him, kind to a fault, and trusting to believe in the good of humankind, Isidro Baquiran is a light in an endless starry sky. Ready to shine and encourage others to do the same. As a professor of around 12 years, Isidro has grown to love leading the youth and doing his best to leave a positive influence on their lives. From written letters to even receiving emails from updates to those that keep him in touch, Isidro finds joy in letting students succeed and flourish through life. A man who finds value in all, especially his fellow staff members. He’s always felt a sincere bond between him and his fellow teachers/professors, sometimes viewing them as their own family. All educators with the intent to strive for the younger generation to a brighter future are people Isidro finds astonishing, inspiring, and deserving of respect. Isidro has no real plans for the future; he’s a man who enjoys the present and faces the future when it arrives. Though he does have an idea of possibly returning to the Philippines to open a daycare or elementary school for kids to attend. Continuing his ever-giving nature even after he may leave fully one day.
Describe how your character ended up becoming a teacher and their previous life. It is optional to include earlier life but recommended.
Make sure this is over 100 words.
Isidro Baquiran grew up within his special region of the Philippines, encompassing the northwestern coast of Luzon Island. His home, Ilocos, is the plentiful garden of Filipino culture and nature. As a young boy, he was always taught by his mother about the strong value of respect and kindness. The two things in life that hold a high importance within the living world, especially to those in the Philippines. He’d grown up around a wide range of people alike, different ages, different personalities, different values, but some people who influenced him the most were his teachers. They brought out a sort of confidence within him, a support that he cherished and never forgot. It influenced him so much that he wanted nothing more than to give others that feeling of unyielding support.
It’s been his dream to become a supportive role model to those just like him. Hopefully, igniting another light in a student’s life, letting himself be the supportive and guiding figure that someone could look up to, soon.
IN-CHARACTER SECTION
(Pretend your character is filling this out, not you, replace the underscores [ _ ] with your answers)
1 - PERSONAL DATA
As the clock struck 6pm, Isidro walked into the warm sunlit room, settling his bag down as he flashed a smile that caused his eyes to squint. He’d watched the people in front of him closely, making sure to take care of what to say while being questioned.
Full Name:
“Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you all. I guess the first thing to mention is that my full name is Isidro Baquiran. But, of course, feel free to address me by my first name.” He’d smile, looking them in the eyes.
Title (Mr, Mrs, Miss):
“I go by Mr.”
Given Name(s):
“Given names? Hmm. . . I’d say my first and last name are all I really have to fill in for this segment,” He’d pause, his eyes widening as he remembered something to add. “Though I do have a nickname back from the Philippines! It was ‘Tito Gee’, a simple polite title my old students used to call me.” Isidro would chuckle, a gentle smile remaining on his face.
Preferred Name:
“I have no issues with you all addressing me by my first name, it’s just more natural that way.”
Age:
“I turned 34 a few weeks ago!”
Gender & pronouns:
“I identify as male and I go by He/Him pronouns.”
Religious Denomination:
“Ahh, let's see. . .” He’d hold his hand up to his chin, looking to the side. “I wasn’t much for religion, but I’m not against the idea of a higher power! So I guess the best way to put it is that I’m agnostic.”
Marital Status:
Isidro would look away, giggling a little. He’d subtly flip his hair back as it fell in front of his face. “I am married, though he’s not in Karakura at the moment. He’s still back home in the Philippines."
Nationality:
“Proudly Filipino!” He’d cheer, a soft chuckle following after.
Current Location:
“Ah! Well, I’m here now but I guess you could say I’m currently stationed within the Ilocos Unified School District, an educational division within the region of Ilocos, Philippines.” He’d pull out a card, his old school district information was displayed to see. “The move was pretty nerve-wracking, but I’m excited to be here nonetheless!”
SECTION 2: Academic Details
Teaching Experience (# of years):
“For teaching I’d say I have a good 7 years on me!”
Working Experience (# of years):
“Ah! As for overall work I actually have 12 years of work experience, including the 7 years of teaching of course.” He’d chuckle to himself, his eyes scrunching a little before settling back on the people in front of him. “I actually started off doing store front work in my town, then I was able to become a teacher’s aide a few years later. This was all during college, luckily I was able to find a school to teach not long after! And now. . . we’re here!”
Academic Degree:
“I have a Master’s of Fine Arts in Literature, it’s my passion in life. BUT! I do also have a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Southeastern Asian Mythology! Alongside literature, I was so heavily in love with southeastern culture and mythology, all the things in life that feel whimsy yet unknown. . . Exciting, no?”
Year of Graduation:
Chuckled, his head dipping down a little before raising back up to look towards the people in front of him. “Oh my, it’s been a bit but I’m sure I graduated high school in 2009, graduating from college in 2017.”
Major(s):
“I majored in Fine Arts in Literature!”
Minors:
“Oh right, and I minored in Fine Arts in Southeastern Asian Mythology.”
Native Languages:
“I know Tagalog (Filipino) and English fluently, it’s a standard in the Philippines to know both.”
Other Languages:
“But of course I know Japanese as well, though sometimes it might be a bit broken. . .” He’d chuckle once again.
Preferred Teaching Subject:
“I have a great interest in teaching all forms of Poetry, expanding on more than just the words on the paper, but delving into deliveries, formatting, emotions, uh. . . the works!”
Extra:
“I guess any other fields could easily follow my passions for fictional writing. Fantasy and mythology are right up my alley!”
Additional notes about your application (if any):
Isidro would stand up, taking a bow and offering his hand for a handshake. “It was a pleasure, really. I look forward to working with you all soon!”
