Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
SchoolRP being, as the name states, a School Roleplay server, includes Teachers as an important part of the experience. Teachers not only bring realism to the roleplay, but also allow players to deepen their understanding on school subjects while having fun, which creates an engaging environment to express yourself through your own characters while being educated. Without teachers, the high school would lack the things that really make SchoolRP itself.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?:
I acknowledge and fully understand this.

Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?:
Absolutely, it's completely reasonable, and I look forward to it!

In-Character Section

·········⋆༺❀༻⋆·········

What's your character's full name?:
Riku would smile, nodding in acknowledgement. "My name is Riku Ikemori."

What is your character's nationality?:
His eyes would flick across the room around him, as if admiring it, before returning to the question. "Oh, well, I was born and raised here, so my nationality is Japanese!"

What is your preferred subject to teach?:
His hands moved outwards, his right dragging through the air to mime painting on a canvas. "I'd like to teach students about art!"

·········⋆༺❀༻⋆·········

Describe your character:
Riku would stand at a towering 6'2", his hair a deep purple and wavy, dyed and cut rather artistically, short in the back and long in the front and slightly choppy, without overdoing it. His hair had a soft gloss to it, likely from him taking care of it well. Every morning, he'd iron his clothing, removing all creases and wrinkles and ensuring he remained put-together at his place of work. His complexion was fair but warm, and his gaze sharp. Contrary to his serious looks, he would actually be a quite fun person, one of his favourite things to do outside of art being spending time with family and friends. His main priority would be to take care of the people around him with patience and gentleness.

·········⋆༺❀༻⋆·········

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Riku sees students as individuals, not a large group. He understands that each individual has their own set of problems, skills, talents and interests. This means that not everyone will always understand the topic, and each may need more or less assistance. Though he expects students to remain mature and to treat one another with respect.

Riku sees co-workers as friends, but he stays professional for the most part, only a little bit casual with co-workers!

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Riku had never been a very focused child. He always seemed to be off in the clouds, gazing at different things around him, anything but paying attention to what he was supposed to be paying attention to. Most people would be confused, which makes sense, because why would someone spend their time staring at the ground? But his love for the way things looked - the imperfections, how real it all was - the way that the tree in front of him would cast a beautiful blue shadow onto the wall behind it in the later hours of the day - even the simple cracks in that wall. He began to spend his time admiring these things, rather than paying attention to the people around him.

He began his art journey by scribbling on his paper in class, attempting to capture the emotion of the things before him. It never seemed to really turn out right. He kept on spending his free time doing this, to be able to show the value and meaning of everything, because he believed that everything had a story to tell, and he’d try his best to recite it through the scribbles on his textbook.

Years of dedication towards learning and working, trying to perfect his skill of expressing these emotions… Until he thought for a moment. He’d learned about the history of art, and he’d been comfortable with where he was. But, he wondered, what now? Of course, he could keep improving, but what would he do after that? Then, it came to him. What better way to use everything he’d done up until now than to teach others? He found that that would be the perfect way to spend his time, teaching younger students about what he’d learn, and even learning more himself while doing so. He could show his admiration and dedication, and hand it to his students, to show how much they can also value these things.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Riku would realise a student is having trouble understanding the topic, and would finish explaining. He’d assign the class to start a small activity and then quietly approach the student and offer them help if they need it to better understand the content. Once the student agreed, he’d then go over the content once more in different wording and make sure they are confident in it. If they are, he’d nod and go around the class helping other students or watch over them from the front.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Riku would first go to the front of the class and ask the class to quiet down, shushing them. He’d use this as an indirect way to ask that student to calm down, looking at the student. This was to avoid directly calling out the student immediately.
“Shhh, class, let’s all be quiet now, that’s enough.”
If the student continued to be disruptive, he’d go up to the student’s desk and quietly warn them that if they continued their behaviour, he’d have to give them a detention.
“[Student], you need to be quiet; you’re being disruptive. I understand that you’re having fun, but you can also have fun doing the assigned work. If you keep up this behaviour, I’ll unfortunately have to hand you a detention, alright?”
If this was not enough, and the student kept continuously being disruptive, he’d place a detention slip on their desk in front of them, warning them one more time about the consequences.
“[Student]. That’s enough. One more disruption and you’re out.”
When (and if) the student continues, he’d then kick them out of the class and continue teaching the other students.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:

Classroom Color Palettes
For this class, he’d first teach the students about color theory. Specifically, how colors can impact people’s emotions and perception, and create various atmospheres when you put them side by side. Each student would go around the room and choose 4 different colors from the objects around. They’d think about how their 4 chosen colors make them feel or the atmosphere of the colors, and label that emotion or atmosphere. After all the students have found their 4 colors and named them, he’d give them a chance to show the class their work if they’d like. Lastly, they’d be assigned homework based off of the content learned in class to revise.

Classic Portraits
Riku would get the class into groups of pairs, and would allow pairs to choose a classic artist, for example, Van Gogh or Picasso. Students would look into their chosen artists’ portraits and each draw their partners as if they were the artist they had chosen, trying to replicate their techniques and styles into their own portraits using similar mediums.

Still Life Drawing
Lastly, a simple class is often held in the 4th period to relax students after the school day. In this class, students are taken outside of the classroom and to the rooftop. They can then spread out (while still staying in view!) and sit down to draw any plants or structures that catch their eye.
