The beach houses are expensive, bland, and never used! There's potential to have fun beach trips as a group of friends, so why not go for it?
My suggestion is to first change how rent works. 20k for 6 hours detours people from purchasing a beach house. Beach houses are vacant because of this, and to me it feels like a waste of money. That, or expand the time people own the house for, like 24-48 hours.
Another suggestion is the interior. There's no furniture, the toilet is just a cauldron with a trapdoor on it and the sink is a hopper with a tripwire hook. There's no rooms, and it's just bland. Adding walls, furniture, and beach themed decorations would make the house more warm and inviting. Even if it means having larger beach houses and less of them.
To expand on both suggestions, there's also an opportunity for beach house size variety. Having large houses for larger groups of friends or smaller houses for smaller groups can allow for more customization. The prices vary for each house, of course.
Activities can add a touch of perfection to beach trips!
- Shore fishing: This is already possible, but adding those daisuke john shore fishing furniture would be an excellent touch. Those small docs with (sunken?) ships could also be used to reach deeper waters.
- Metal detecting: 24/7 metal detecting! Similar to fishing, this can give you small treasures (bottle caps, rusty jewelry, etc) that can be sold at about the same prices as fish. So cool!
- Bringing back the old beach (somewhat): For those who don't remember, there were tons of things in the old SRP beaches! Perhaps adding more holes (implying people dug them), coal walks, more campfires, tables + chairs, and such would be nice! More things to play around with.
- Snorkeling: We have goggles and snorkel masks, but they're only used for accessories. Why not make them work? It can get wearers in water better vision (night vision?), a swim attribute boost (without doing the gym's punching bags), and water breathing!
Paired with this, having the oceans be more vibrant (coral, rocks, and hidden secrets) would allow snorkelers to have more fun, paired with sea animals (dolphins and fish whitelists) to be relevant.
- Running/Biking trails: Literally just a trail intended for bikers and runners! Could be used for gaining attributes or a change of scenery.
Note: This would be a super cool summer update :)
How will this benefit the server and community?:
1. Low Prices = High Motivation - changing prices can motivate people to actually rent a house out for awhile and invite a group of friends. It can also encourage new (and poor) players who may not have the money to try it out too.
2. Camping/Getaway - Families and friends are able to go on weekend trips whilst being in Karakura. There's not many opportunities for that other than campgrounds in the forest. "Pack your bags, we're going on a weekend beach trip!"
3. Why not? - The beach houses are outdated, made before furniture was added! Why not send our beloved build team out on a mission to make the beach houses better than ever? Things are being updated around the map, and it's time for the beach houses to shine.
4. More activities = more roleplay opportunities! - Lets be real - BeachRP isn't that common other than events. It would be nice to see.
