In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Tetsuya Ashika
What is your character's nationality?: Japanese
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Biology)
Describe your character:
Tetsuya is a 6'2 Japanese man with white hair, and dresses casual. He's more laid back, has a calmer demeaner and hates to raise his voice, but makes up with it from his stern commands. He specializes in the study of melittology, specifically around apiology. His goal is to eventually own a large plot of land dedicated to beekeeping.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
He believes everyone deserves a chance to learn, regardless of their past and life goals. He'd treat his coworkers with respect, kindness, and always willing to lend a helpful hand.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
He wants people to realize the importance of nature, specifically bugs. They're typically feared or treated as disgusting or insignificant, despite making such a large impact upon people's lives that they may take for granted. He believes one day people will be willing to learn about their broad, deep social structures, how their bodies differ from ours, and their interesting ecology.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Offer a helping hand, second-hand tutoring, show sympathy for those struggling, as well as explain in a more simple or detailed manner to make sure his students can follow along properly. He'd want to make sure everyone's accounted for, because if a student fails his class, he's failed as a teacher, instead of blaming them for not properly understanding his lessons.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Give them verbal warnings, soft but gentle at first. If disrespectful or disruptive behavior continues, a kick from the class or a detention slip will be handed out. Disrespect of him and his piers will NOT be tolerated, under any circumstances. A proper learning environment requires a disruptive-free, healthy interaction-based classroom.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
-Studying beehives, learning about their hierarchy and how they operate.
-Tasting different honeys depending on what flower they visit, and attempting to guess what flower they visited based on lessons learned from class!
