Karakura's newest spiritual movement.
We are the TENKAI FELLOWSHIP, an avant-garde blend of performance art, Shugendō, and Zen philosophy, infused with thoughtful social commentary. It would be a great disservice to Karakura if the teachings of the Lotus Sutra and Zen sects that saw prominence during the Kamakura period on our island were to be lost. Indeed, only a few are really remembered and live on in some way through the practices of those at the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery.
We step in to ensure ALL other teachings are not forgotten. Though the Lotus Sutra and Zen sects spoken of in our town’s history books are our main focus, we, of course, turn our attention to other venerable traditions that saw prominence during the Kamakura period on this island.
Our gatherings in Karakura are not at the behest of any hierarchical organization; rather, we are simply a collective with no leaders, but teachers!
Karakura, a town plagued by corruption and crime, has been engulfed throughout its history by moral entrepreneurs, nepotism, and a generation of egoists. Dejected souls too often find themselves isolated, suffering injustices at the hands of a thoughtless government and an overwhelmed healthcare system. It doesn’t need to be this way.
Too many of us have felt the chill of isolation, the sting of injustice. Yet within each soul lies the capacity to rise above, to pierce the veil of illusion, confront the image, and touch what has always been sleeping dormant inside of every one of us. This is the path we offer: a journey into perception, into our potential; a study of life and death, a reckoning with what the moral entrepreneurs in Karakura have always told us must be feared.
We invite participants to explore the boundaries of perception, challenge conventional notions of life and death, and cultivate insight through meditative practice. We provide the space for you to share those insights alongside those seeking their own.
Become a conduit of repair
The TENKAI FELLOWSHIP, being a non-hierarchical collective, does not have leaders or a formal application process! This is likely for the best, as the pesky and oppressive Karakura Police Department often harasses our fellows. At the same time, the moral entrepreneurs of Karakura go out of their way to stalk our fellows into the mountains. It is a dreadful pity.
THE FELLOWSHIP welcomes ALL who wish to set themselves on the right path alongside like-minded people, unbound by terrestrial taboos. For this reason, we place kyōkatabira and other similar attire under the meditation cushions scattered around Ochiba Forest.
We welcome all to take these home freely, and to attend the sessions we hold from time to time across Karakura. These assemblies are peaceful and promoted through flyers placed in Ochiba Forest, which detail when and where they occur.
