My activity ranges from up and down. During the weekdays, I'm usually busy with other things, but weekends are my best time recently to be online, though sometimes the weeks that I am not busy, I usually get on from early morning to late nights with breaks in between! Though this table is just an estimate, life can be busy and rough sometimes, so due to that, this isn't set times of when I am and not busy. When it comes down to it, just ask!

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
My motivation for applying for the reporter position would be that I enjoy writing. Giving the community updates on what is happening in the little world around them, as well as giving them their own voice. Reporter is a role that is constantly changing and challenging you to keep up with the world and different perspectives. My motivation is to learn how to strive as a writer and get better at opening my character and myself to more experiences and growth.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
I have two years in creative writing that I gained from my years of high school. During the years that I took creative writing, I spent writing about events that were happening on a global scale. Moving into my last year of high school, I moved into criminal justice, in which I wrote much about the system. My relationship with writing has always been a getaway from the inner workings of the world. I spent my childhood writing short stories about characters from books that inspired me. Moving into SRP, I've enjoyed writing lore and being in scenarios that involved evolving my characters.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
I am aware and will follow the set rules given

Why should we accept you over others?:
Being accepted over others is my dedication to bringing stories to life. I have the creativity and drive that others may not. Aiming to make every article and report meaningful and not just a filler. My attention to detail and curiosity may set me apart from others, bringing both professionalism and personality to every paragraph. Taking initiative instead of waiting for a story or idea to come to me is one of many talents I can uphold in a fast-paced faction, such as a reporter.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Yes, I understand.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes, I understand.

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
A job as a reporter is more than writing; it's gathering the truth and the story of the community. Turning the findings into clear, coherent stories and piecing together bits of a puzzle. The main function of a reporter is to inform the community promptly.

Full Name:
Nicole Fowler Hinata
Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
Ms. Fowler
Current Age (25+):
25
Past job/work experience:
“I've worked alongside others for my side job as a photographer, and while I studied at Sogang University, I worked on small reports around Seoul.”
Degree/qualifications:
“I went to college for my bachelor’s in communication at Sogang University in Seoul, Korea.”
Nationality and born location:
‘I carry two, German and Korean. I was born in Aachen, Germany.’
Phone Number:
030-161-2985
How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
“Describing myself, not something I do often. I see myself as quite determined. I was shaped by a cross-cultural upbringing that drove me into discipline, resilience, and strength. Furthermore, I adapt quickly, too quickly for some, and I channel my emotions into ambition and self-improvement. My independence and loyalty come from bonds that I trust, from past years of relying on myself.”
What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
"I will write about stories that often get ignored, taking place in dark corners. The hidden struggles and quiet victories that deserve to be heard. I want to shine a light on things that matter, not just fill a space. I will do this by staying curious, asking questions that others are too shy or scared to ask, and pushing myself to dig deeper. Likewise, I will research the past to bring it to light. I plan to step out of my comfort zone and become a reporter. Good reporting doesn’t happen in the shadows. It involves interviewing someone intimidating, entering unfamiliar environments, and even challenging my own assumptions. I’m ready to take those risks if it means sharing a story that is real, raw, and meaningful."
What are your expectations for the job?:
"I expect to be challenged; growth doesn't happen when things are easy. Learn how to turn raw information into something worth reading. I expect to be guided when needed. Told what needs to be improved, trusted with the work given. I expect it to give me opportunities to learn from real situations, to develop skills I may lack. If and when I put in the effort, I expect the position to give me space to grow and prove myself."
Do you have a criminal record? If so,list the crimes below:
“I have been arrested under two accounts of Assault with a weapon and obstruction of justice, with evasion during my teenage years.”
Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
“I speak Japanese and Korean.”

#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.

[✮] The camera is covered by a red shirt, following long, light brown hair. A face is brought into frame; behind it, you can see a black-haired male. The frame goes black, then comes back to a male and a female sitting opposite of other! The sound of a notebook hitting the table, along with a deep breath, filled the audio. [✮]

Nicole - “Good afternoon, before we start, could I get your full name and age?

[✮] Placing a hair behind her ear, she looks at the male across from her [✮]

Ren - “Ren Stark Astley, and I am 36.”

Nicole - “Great, Ren, may you start with how long you have lived in Karakura, and a bit of your cultural background for me.”

[✮] Flashing a warm smile to Ren, she writes small notes in the book, awaiting his response. Ren took note of the writing, and he was seen with a small smile on his face. [✮]

Ren - “Well, my family and I first moved here when I was 13, although I moved away at 15. Until the age of 18, when I came back. I have been living here basically ever since then. For my cultural background, it has been all over the place, to be honest with you. Before I moved to Karakura, I was living in Mexico. And my family cultivated a lot of crops like maize and beans for our food, of course. You should try some Mexican food sometime, it's really nice! Although once we moved here, we weren't able to do that, we didn't have enough land, nor was it the right conditions to grow our own crops. We had to blend into the Japanese culture, and with that, you can guess it was very hard.”

Nicole - “I do believe that can be hard, yes. So you’ve been in Karakura since you were 18, though blending into the Japanese culture that Karakura holds.. That moves into our next question. Do you think Karakura’s diversity has influenced your personal identity?”

[✮] Nicole seemed silent during his time speaking, jotting down notes in her book that sat in front of her. Taking a deep breath, she gazed up at Ren [✮]

Ren - “Yes, it has. Do you want me to expand on this?”

[✮] During answering, he clutched his left arm while letting out a small laugh. Nicole moved into a straighter sitting position; it acted as if she knew this would be a touchy subject for him to answer. Though continued. [✮]

Ren - “Well. As you know, Karakura isn't the kindest town, and you need to adapt to it. Now, saying that, I don't mean you should go around killing people. You should never do that; violence isn't the right answer. Although in this town a lot of people instantly choose violence the second something goes wrong. With this, you have to learn how to avoid situations.. Stuff can happen if you don't think about it. There are some really dangerous people in this town, and although KPD does its best, not all criminals can be caught.”

[✮] Ren was heard pausing; he clenched his left arm. Almost to say that his reasoning was correct. Due to this, Nicole pressed the book onto the table flat and gazed at Ren with her head tilted. [✮]

Nicole - “This town is filled with holes, yes, the crime rates are absurd to me, considering the number of officers. With this being said, the challenges. What challenges do you think people face when trying to maintain their traditions in a town such as Karakura?”

Ren - “Other people around them, Karakura is filled with people from all over the world. They tend to be confused about why people are doing the things they are. For example, praying before eating, taking their shoes off when entering buildings, or even just the way they dress, if it becomes difficult, as you don't want to be questioned about all that stuff constantly. Yes, it isn't their fault, but that has been the biggest problem for me.”

[✮] During his time speaking, Nicole spun her pen in her left hand, and soon after, it came to a stop as she pressed the pen to the paper. She wrote quickly, looking back up to Ren, she asked. [✮]

Nicole - “So you would say that others follow the Japanese traditions to fit in, is that correct? Or is that underlying something else?”

Ren - “Yeah, I guess so, ever since I moved here, I've seen myself slowly changing my culture to Japanese. At one point, I ended up wearing a kimono most of the time, which was weird for me. As in Mexico, no one wore a Kimono.”

Nicole - “As one does to fit in with the town's standard. So that follows into the next: have you ever felt pressured to change or adapt parts of your culture to fit in? In your case, you just mentioned the fact of wearing a kimono. Do you believe that could be the norm for others who are not accustomed to the Japanese culture?”

Ren - "Well, that's difficult, although when I have visited other countries, I haven't seen people wear Kimono's it has mainly been in Japan. Although that is just a clothing choice. Although I do feel like you have to adapt to fit, as if you do things that aren't normal to the Japanese culture, others around you may act confused about why you aren't doing the same, as it's normal to them. It's also seen as a sign of respect; after all, you are here in their country, so you follow their culture. If not, you don't fit in. Like, I don't know, going to an aquarium and seeing a giraffe. It wouldn't make sense, would it? That's my take, though. I feel like you should follow the culture of the country to fit in with others around you."

[✮] The pair shared a laugh at the joke, and Nicole nodded. Jotting down a few more quick notes, she snapped her head back up. [✮]

Nicole - "I completely agree, it is as if you were going to Mexico wearing a kimono. You would be looked at oddly, with that, what could you say to the younger generation, or even just to the community that surrounds Karakura about keeping traditions alive?. Such as yourself, for example. What traditions that you still keep alive to keep yourself?"

Ren - "Well .. I would tell them to respect one another, after all, that's what people should do. Treat people how you want to be treated, meaning respect one another. If you have a tradition and you don't feel comfortable doing it out in the open, do it inside your home or a place you feel comfortable. After all those traditions connect you to your Birthplace. Me myself. I have forgotten most traditions I used to do, which is upsetting, but that's mainly because of the kids, and I didn't get the time to do them."

[✮] Ren looked off to the side when mentioning the lost connections to his traditions. [✮]

Nicole - "Mm ..So with that. Do you think that the younger generations are keeping their' traditional customs alive, or do you think that they are drifting from them? As you mentioned yourself .. You have forgotten most traditions that you used to do. Do you believe that is the same for others in this town?"

[✮] Ren shook his head ever so slightly. [✮]

Ren - "I feel like the younger generations are drifting from their traditional cultures and moving towards the Japanese ones. You don't really see people doing traditions from other countries anymore."

Nicole - “So, yes? You do believe that it is the same for others and that people are drifting from their original cultures?”

Ren - "Yes, I do."

Nicole - “Alright, moving into a corresponding question. What could the city, or community, do to better support cultural diversity? Or even if there is something that they could do?”

[✮] Nicole had put the pen down at this point, folding her hands on the table in front of her, and she leaned forward slightly. [✮]

Ren - "Well, there is nothing the city can do. You can't really expect the government to build stuff to do with another country's culture. It's down to the community .. The people. It's how they react. How do they treat each other? That's how you deal with it. Like I said before. Respect one another."

Nicole - “So with that, I'll end it off with how modern life or events affect the way traditions are practiced. Circling back to the criminal aspect of the town, does it hinder the traditions of the people in Karakura? Do they feel comfortable in practicing said traditions?”

[✮] Ren looked down at the table, listening intently, and looking back up, he answered. [✮]

Ren - "Well. Yes, it would. If your tradition is going out somewhere and criminals are running around all the time, you would be scared to go out, wouldn't you?. I wouldn't want to do my traditions knowing there is a chance I could get beaten or stabbed."

Nicole - “So, in all, do you believe that Karakura is a place to practice your traditions. Either that be in the comfort of your home or on the streets, where you could be at risk for your safety?”

[✮] Closing her book, she placed the pen on top. Her hands rested comfortably beside the book on either side. [✮]

Ren - "Personally, I wouldn't practice my traditions within Karakura. Although if we were too, it would be inside my home, knowing it's safe there instead of out on the streets where anything could happen."

[✮] She was seen flattening out her skirt as she got up, dipping her head right in front of the camera, and she flashed a warm smile. [✮]

Nicole - “With that, I conclude my interview with Ren Stark Astley on how Karakura Hinders cultural differences!”

[✮] The screen cut to black, then showed an end scene! [✮]
