Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
As a roleplay server that takes place in a school setting, attending school occupies a fair duration of the weekday, and within that time slot, teachers are the backbone of the server. They are essentially hosts, as they are what allows the school to hold classes from day to day. Their job to hold classes is important when regarding roleplay experience, as classes are a major opportunity to do so, providing players a chance to interact with their peers. Teachers also may serve as guides, as I often see teachers being the ones who provide explanations in LOOC to new players who have expressed their confusion towards commands or rules. However, these hospitable traits are not the sole reason Teachers are important, as they also correct bad behavior and give punishment when necessary. Essentially, they are keeping the students in check to ensure others’ SchoolRP experience is fun, yet also fair.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes

What's your character's full name?: Mufūmota Maeng
What is your character's nationality?: Korean
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Maths
Describe your character:
Mufūmota Maeng is a 32 year old Korean male of an average stature and a slender build. His dark, wavy hair is light brown, while his eyes share a similar hue. He puts visible effort in maintaining a kempt appearance, especially his hair in particular. His upper attire consists of an unzipped silvery jacket that is set over a blue, plaid collared shirt. His lower half consists of plain dress pants and shoes. Outwardly, due to Mufūmota’s aloof nature, he may appear to be impassive, as he tends to be discreet around strangers. To those he has a closer relationship with— substantially the elders of his family— he can be seen with more cunning behavior, typically seeking out a flimsy reason to ask for an impossibly high rack of cash, yet his wishes are too unrealistic to ever succeed! Despite his unrelenting selfishness towards those he has close personal connections to, he lacks this flaw of his character when it comes to animals he is familiar with– he reacts more warmly towards them. There is an exception, however, as despite his relentless favor of panda bears, he ironically has an uncomfortable fear of grizzly Bears after witnessing a savage and gruesome attack!

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
He truly holds his students in high regard, and he finds it easier to show his passion for teaching when in a full classroom, as seeing an abundance of students present makes him feel more self-assured that he is contributing to their education. When there are fewer students, he still has this impression, but it causes him to feel more pressure due to being more aware of each present individual. He tries to bring out a more cordial side when conversing with students to maintain mutual civility, so he has a hard time being stern unless a student misbehaves after already being warned that he will take action if it continues.
With co-workers, Mufūmota tends to act more awkwardly from trying to find a fine line between being professional and friendly. He’s hyper-aware of mistakenly appearing disinterested in others due to his difficulty in maintaining both courtesy and geniality. Additionally, outside of school, he may seem detached and indifferent due to being unsure of how to socialize outside of work, often responding stiffly to those he interacts with. This merely stems from him trying to mind his manners, for he unintentionally responds snippily when comfortable.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
A belief Mufūmota has held for as long as he can recall— financial literacy is critical to living! Gains and losses regarding money has always been one of his sole concerns, since in the past, he has seen numerous incidents and disasters that have occurred solely due to poor financial situations. Finances became his one and only true passion; therefore, he aimed for a degree that specialized in mathematics despite initially planning to study to become a cardiologist. During his second year of college, he switched his major to obtain a bachelor's degree in mathematics or education. When he made the switch, he had already made up his mind about the type of person he should be from then on— he wanted to be able to use the knowledge he gained due to money-related faults into a career that enlightens others. Thus, after his efforts, he now has a career in teaching math, his main focus being the mathematics of data and financial literacy.

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Mufūmota gestures to the whiteboard as he directs a question regarding the lesson to the class— he is relieved as a few students respond affirmatively, but one student is visibly struggling as they express their confusion aloud. Mufūmota pauses, quickly racking his brain for a different way to explain it. He decides to go further in depth for each step, as it is clear that more clarity on the subject is necessary. He then once more encourages the students to answer a similar question, and is pleased when the simplification of solving the equation has brought everyone to the conclusion in a much easier way. When students are lost in what he is teaching, he will not throw a fit! From his understanding, everyone learns in different ways, and as a teacher whose job is to help them learn, you must adapt to ensure they do so.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Despite the repetitive disruptions, Mufūmota always believes in second chances! Treat others the way you would like to be treated! He turns to look the student in the eye, deciding to give one final warning: “There’s only so much time I have to teach, so right now, all I ask is that you pay attention! If I hear ONE MORE PEEP… I will have to ask you to leave!” Mufūmota then goes on to continue his lesson. If the student continues causing disruptions, then he has no choice but to follow through with what he said. He turns to face the student, grimly stating, “I apologize, but I told you very clearly the kind of behavior I expect from you. Take your time to reminisce… for now, you must leave!” He then has the student removed from the class due to their constant misbehavior.

After a short lesson regarding budgeting rules and what would be considered a NEED and a WANT, Mufūmota stands in front of his desk, raising his voice to announce an activity to prevent poor spending habits. “I would like every one of you to, as quickly as you can, form a group of 4 and put this skill to use yourself.” Mufūmota passes books around the class, each book having the following written in it: BUDGET OF 50000 YEN. On the 2nd page, there is a short list of a few items, some deemed more necessary, such as a refrigerator, a bed, etc, while others are deemed less important, yet desired, such as a PC or a fancy carpet. Mufūmota returns to stand in front of his desk, smiling as he continues, “I would like each of you to work with your group as if you are shopping to furnish a home you just moved into. For each group, you will share the budget of 50000 yen and work together for each person to have what they need to live comfortably while staying under the small budget. Those who display the most critical thinking and teamwork get a sticker!" This will put them to the test of calculating a sum that falls below the given budget.

Eyeing a few students in particular, Mufūmota declares, “Now, we have a few seniors here that are HOPEFULLY going to college this following year, so I believe it may be a good time to teach you about how to calculate 3 types of scholarship coverage… take notes for your homework!” He will state the definitions and formulas of three categories based on the amount of coverage: Fixed-amount scholarships, percentage-based scholarships, and Full-tuition scholarships. Additionally, he will provide example equations for each type. After a small practice by asking one question for each category and hearing the correct answer in response, he is now confident in the students' ability to calculate each type of coverage from a tuition price! “To make sure you all got this down, we’ll play a game… but first, lets relocate so there’s more room to organise groups. CAREFULLY make way to the door! Bring your things, as well!” Mufūmota then leads the students out to the courtyard, requesting that everyone votes on 3 group leaders. He insists that the group leaders come up to stand on a rock (As a show of POWER!) and take turns selecting someone to join their team, while those selected to join a team will line up on the grass behind their new leader. Mufūmota will then call out an equation, ask to identify whether it is a fixed-amount, percentage-based, or full-tuition scholarship, and then ALSO calculate the solution to the equation. To get a point, a team must agree on an answer for the 2 questions, and then call it out. This will continue until one team has reached 10 points. The winning team will be allowed to have a soda or a juice as a prize, and those who showed the most engagement, win or lose, will get a sticker!
