Out of the majority of players, I would say I'm a relatively active one; I spend 4+ hours a day on the server as a whole, whether that's roleplaying, interacting with friends, building & helping newer people or what not. Of course, the majority of it is spent roleplaying or shop attendances since I am employed under henkido, but also as a BMDA. Which is all reasons to be active in my opinion, I would easily say my activity is comfortably at 8.5/9 out of 10. Of course, like any person, activity can fluctuate but I do make sure to log a decent amount of time on a day.

School Employee Role you are applying for?:
I am applying for a Tutor position. :D

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:
The tutor's primary responsibility is to provide students with individualized academic support, whether it's helping them overcome challenges in subjects they find difficult or helping them build confidence to learn independently. Rather than simply providing answers, a tutor is supposed to encourage students to discover those answers themselves by teaching them how to think critically, study the information that is right in front of them as well as develop effective problem solving skills. Every student learns differently, so a part of a tutors role is also identifying different learning methods that suit each individual, this may involve helping students establish productive study habits, teaching effective note taking techniques or to record lessons where permitted. To create revision strategies, or suggesting collaboration with other students to reinforce what was learned. Ultimately, a tutor helps students build the foundational skills and habits that allow them to succeed not only in a single subject, but throughout their educational journey no matter how far they choose to pursue it. In addition to the one-on-one and small group sessions, tutors may also attend classes, particularly those related to their area of expertise. Providing support during lessons, while they don't replace the classroom teacher, they serve as additional academic resources, assisting students who require it and supporting the teacher when appropriate, it's not uncommon to see a tutor quietly observing from the back or side of the classroom remaining unobtrusive.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
Talking about past roleplay experience always takes me back to around 2014-2015 when I first discovered what it was. I roleplayed over a plethora of places, amino, Instagram, twitter before it rebranded. Minecraft, Roblox etc. Every community was different and taught me something different, unfortunately I did grow out of the MCRP area of it all and took a pause in 2019. Only to rediscover it around last year when SRP landed on my doorstep so about mid-late spring 2025. It was scary to come back but exhilarating. It was something new, I was older, I had years of experience yet it did not justify how new it was. Rules were confusing, people were everywhere. But it was easy to get involved in the community after awhile, I made friends on SRP that have been there since the beginning, some not. But still, meaningful relationships nonetheless. These friends taught me how to have fun on SRP, what experiences and opportunities you can have and helped me mature overtime; One of my first friends was in the KPD at the time. It was inspiring, they talked about how fun it was, how great the community and people were. It inspired me, but I was not yet ready. I worked endlessly on improving my writing, my roleplaying skills and getting comfortable in that before putting myself out there, even when I did that. It was nerve wracking, eventually. I applied to EMS and got in, my first faction and one of the most popular, I learned a lot in my time there, about teamwork, communication and things that were beyond just roleplay. It helped me grow as a person, and again, gave me many friends I would not trade for anything. Outside of "main" factions, I have been involved in CrimeRP, from small involvement in gangs to venturing on my own; my recent achievement was getting BMDA under AadhiraRP. Again, it's an area that relies on communication, dedication and teamwork, nonetheless it has brought so many amazing ideas to the table where amazing roleplays came to fruition. Another area of roleplay that I have been involved in is shops! I have been security at Pinkumo, and now Henkido and remain an employee there. It definitely is a different area of roleplaying & what it takes to do it. But, it has been one of the most memorable. I am always looking to grow and expand on what I know, and learn things I likely don't. Things don't stop just because you want it too, things stop when you refuse to see how accessible it all is and right in front of you, aka, take the leap of faith and do it.

Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
I want to join the school employee faction due to simply being curious, I want to explore and see what's out there and how much I can expand my roleplay and things I can get involved into whether it be with characters I've had for awhile, or someone brand new. Think of it as a new genre, it's completely opposite of crimerp, and opposite of EMS. I have always been intrigued in the school faction as well, since the start of my SRP journey, I mean it is the first faction you typically get introduced to and interact with the most. I also have a interest due to ooc reasons, I have worked with tutors in the past and worked with children and teaching them like one would. It simply became a smaller passion of mine and I would love to extend what I know into this beautiful roleplay universe and expand my creativity in such ways.

Situations


During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
Shuyan would only let out a gentle sigh as a bookmark met the page, papers folding over one another as it closed. He knew young minds were impulsive, teens. Made the majority, hormones, social expectations and friend groups all made the influence possible. But it would not be excused just because of reasoning behind it, rules were rules. He would let the student express themselves, language being crude or sour. Before quietly hushing them with a verbal warning, he would demand no apology. He would expect change, but if there was no change or different result he would give them the final outcome which came in the verbal warning, detention. The slip would be passed off to the student, him verbally reminding them where the detention room was and what time to be there. Once done, he would finalize it into the computer before attending back to previous or newly found work. The child's pessimism wouldn't effect his day, naturally. He would only wish their day got better and change would come.

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
Witnessing a fight is never fun, it's never amusing. Not to guardians, not to educators, not to most. So Shuyan would approach cautiously, being careful not to get caught in the crossfire or involve himself too much where physicality would be involved, that wasn't allowed. He would start with a verbal warning, grabbing attention of those involved. Telling them if it persisted, it would be detention. For all parties involved with no exception. And if even they stopped now, it still would be punished. Reminding them assault on school grounds is not tolerated and will not be excused. Every student was given a detention slip with the usual verbal reminder of expectancy of where, and when. But before he headed off he would guide them all to the nurses office. He would ask names of others who may have been involved, if given them. He would call them to the front desk to get the same result, if no names were given. He would go check the cameras to see himself.

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Shuyan was observant, crazily so. Always prioritizing safety of those around him, students and employees alike. If a situation came to be where a teacher was endangering themselves, he would advise them to stop what they were doing or saying to prevent further consequences to themselves and or the student and prevent injury if needed. If that other person did so, he would thank them. But still report them to higher authority for them to see to the situation so it could be resolved internally & correctly beyond his judgement. If it involved a teacher and student, pursuing a fight, or acting ‘stupidly’ e.g; performing stunts or encouraging rule breaks because of the ‘mess around find out’ mindset he would again advise them not to do that and be the bigger person, if they rejected. He would inform SLT or others for help, and report it further on paper.

When in the employee break room, how does your character act?
Shuyan is a quiet individual, he is very to his own. Books, or work alike. Sometimes, he's not even in the breakroom but when he is, it's nothing but casual and calm. He doesn't mind small talk, often asking how are you, or what's the latest news around the school. And if the conversation was intriguing enough, he would stick around. Brewing tea for himself, and whoever joined them, it was always a pleasant time, truly an area to wind down with no expectations of students and where adults could talk like adults. Sometimes, friendships forming there. He would work on lesson plans for those he was tutoring, take time to message those back home.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:
The first one I had consent of the player to involve their character as an example. ^_^

/me would be in his office, tending to a small stack of paperwork of study plans or arrangements he made for students previously too. His eyes would carry around the room, out of windows to the library or the outdoors. Soon, his attention would be drawn to the gentle knocks on the door, as if it was a child scared to be there. It wouldn't even take him two seconds to get up to see who it was. To his surprise, it was a child who seemed to favor him, Mita. Her tears ran violently down her cheeks, hands balled into fists with the Elmo plushie dragging behind. A paper in the other, may as well keep it crumpled. “Oh, my dear.. Come here, what has upset you so?” He would assume it was a lesson she did not understand, with gentle guidance and care Mita would be brought into his office with a soft click of the door when it was shut. “We can talk about it, Mita but only after you calm down. There there, you have no reason to cry.. It is alright.” Usually, he would be more stern but with something so fragile, nurturing would get better results. So a handkerchief was brought up, gently tapping away tears, once Mita calmed down he would simply reward her. “Good job, now.. What has you stressing, Mita? Let me see.” He would encourage her to share the problem, in a way to tell her he wanted to help. The paper would be unfolded carefully, it would be a literature assignment, poetry.. To make a Haiku. “Ah, I see. It's alright, we can work through this together.” Encouragement was next, he sat in the beanbag chair, patting the other. “First Mita, can you tell me what a Haiku poem is? It's okay if not, just try your best. I'm here to help if you need it.” If the answer was given, he would praise for a job well done. Or a ‘I knew you could do it.’ if it wasn't provided, he would ease them to the answer, instead of giving it directly. If all proved well and the assignment was completed, he would look at Mita with a soft smile. “You did it! I'm proud of you.” The child would feel accomplished, and knew she learned something, whereas Shuyan knew he did his job. The child would be let out of the office with a sticker and the completed assignment.

/me would be in the classroom today, offered by a teacher of course. It would come to no objection, he would follow the teacher to the classroom, learn the lesson plan before the students arrived as he took his corner, or wherever the teacher placed him. Against a desk, or windowsill. He would remain quiet, attentive to the lesson but also to the students around him, who seemed to be struggling. Who not. Or, who was paying attention, and not. Questions are sporadic, and spontaneous. He wasn't there to correct how the teacher taught, however. They were both new, maybe after he would help them and the students alike. When it was quiet he would go around, asking if anyone needed help, surprisingly a student did. “Uhmm.. Mr. Meng.. Do you know what this means?” He halted in his stroll and peered back, glancing over the sheet, carefully leaning over their shoulder. ‘Who held the real power in feudal Japan’ He would hum to himself before answering. “Well, think of it like the military, you have your army, then your leaders, the army being the samurai. Who led the samurai?” He would leave the statement blank, seeing how they would answer. “The… Shogun?” They would reply almost meekly. But he nodded. “Good job, see? You just need to take a moment to think about it.” He would pat the students shoulder and continue his stroll, or even back to his spot for the rest of the class.

/me would be leisurely strolling the halls on lunch hour, students buzzing about, faculty rushing their last changes to lesson plans or asking cameras to be looked over for a fight, he didn't stop though. Not unless his attention was directed to something specific, in this case. It was, he looked to the student who called out for them. “Ms .. Shuyan..?” she spoke hesitantly, evidently humiliated if it had been wrong. But Shuyan didn't mind. “Its Meng, dear. I do not mind prefix, what is it that you need?” He raised a brow, placing hands behind their back. “Uhm.. I have.. An important class is coming up- I was told and- I'm not.. Understanding what we are learning and I'm falling behind.. If I keep doing so I may lose my scholarship spot” She danced on her feet, head hung low. Shuyan would take a moment, processing how to handle this. “Alright, I understand. Here is what we can do, I can have you attend study sessions in my office before, or after that class. Whichever works, and when you can between your own personal events. We can discuss what you are having trouble with specifically and go from there, how does that sound?” His voice chimed, like a windchime in gentle wind. “Oh!! OKAY! That sounds REALLY GOOD THANK YOU MS MENG! OR MR… IDONTKNOW IM SORRY.” She let out a few rapid apologetic bows before skipping away before he could give a location, specifically where his office was. But he would just dismiss it with a laugh, hoping she would stick through if she sought him out, she knew her education was important. Therefore, it was important to him.

Full Name (First & Last only):
Shuyan Meng carefully sat himself down at the table, papers displayed in front of him while the kimono remained proper, hands pressed to knees. “My name Is Shuyan Meng, It's a pleasure to meet you” his voice would remain accented. Soft in deliverance, like air itself had a sound. His expression would remain warm, pleasant yet a bit… neutral, however not in a negative way or in a way it could be interpreted as that. After a moment of introductions were exchanged, their hand slid outside the cuff of the sleeve to rest against the other's palm in a firm handshake to solidify it all before proceeding.

Title (Mr, Mrs, Miss):
Shuyan took a moment to think about it, replaying each title out in their head to see how it paired with their name the best. “I wouldn't mind any, I believe all would suit. Therefore, all! Miss, ma’am, sir, mister what not, I do not believe in confining myself to one.” A gentle smile displayed next which was a contrast to the neutrality yet not unwelcomed as hands joined next in some sort of dance, always a bit expressional. Shuyan wasn't completely dull, were they?

Preferred Name:
Similarity to last, the process anyway. They thought about it for a moment too long. You would think they weren't in the room at all anymore, but they were. “I think I would be most comfortable with Meng in a setting where I'm dealing with those of the younger generation and children. Most academic professionals do not go by their first name, do they?” A pause, were they starting to talk a lot? Maybe they had a feeling where explaining themselves fully was necessary. “With coworkers, I wouldn't mind first or last name, on the other hand, I would refer to them with their last name just to be polite until they express something different.”

Age (Minimum is 25):
A subtle pinkish hue filled their cheeks upon the question that came next, not everyone was so confident in their age or used to stating it, whether they look their age or not. It can be seen as impudent and crude. However it was dismissed, it was necessary. “I am 34 years old! 1992 to be exact” The question was simple enough, therefore the answer was too, no need for debate. But, they did pull out their ID from a near pocket in the folder they carried & slit it onto the table for viewing, which did state they were 34!

Gender:
Shuyan hesitated on this question, 34 years young and still not knowing how to identify, whether believing gender is a social expectation or something more was beyond him to comprehend fully. “I do not define myself as any gender, but biologically speaking I am a male. I am not fixated on any certain pronoun either, though my comfort remains in they/them or he/him. But, in moments where my back is turned and she/her gets used in association, I would not frown upon it.” The answer was delivered to the best of their ability, indifference and complexity on their face however it settled once confidence was felt within what was provided.

“I majored in Arts, History to be exact and received my Bachelors degree. So you could imagine what that holds, different eras of history, geography, world history or something more specific” A nod followed suit in their answer as more papers were slipped on top of the ones already displayed, neatly, of course. It was a copy of his degree, it remained on the table.
Minors:
“My minors consisted in East Asian studies, political sciences, and education. I do believe these suited what I wanted at the time and benefited my bachelors degree. I do not regret them, and yes, I do have certificates for them all” The records were displayed neatly besides the copy of his degree, all certified and in recent years.

Nationality:
Shuyan lit up at this question, like a kid on Christmas. “I am Chinese, specifically, Han Chinese. I was born in Harbin, Heilongjiang province in China. But of course, now Karakura.” He never once hated talking about where he was from, it came with a certain pride. To be proud, is what they were. Even in some ignorance of his country and how it ran, they never turned an eye.
Known Languages:
“I know Mandarin Chinese, it is the most common in Heilongjiang, then Japanese. This was learned in university and perfected overtime while working in Japan." Their nod came forth again, a head caught on a spring as their tone changed here and there due to battling accents. Even in fluency, there was hesitance or struggle. Knowing more than one language was never easy despite the level you met of its fluency.

Backstory

Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
“I believe my motivation to joining KHS comes from my belief that education is one of the most effective ways to preserve history, culture and human understanding. When this position came to availability I saw it as an opportunity to contribute to an international learning environment as well as a teaching position but not as much. I wanted to give students a new way of understanding, of learning. Satisfaction for me did not come from publishing or working in archives but seeing children of many generations finally understand something after not at first… I realized then my role was not to only preserve but to make it accessible for all” Shuyan hummed after a lengthy response, after all they wanted to enable learning, to create a safe space for it and opportunity for many. Not just kids who adored history, but all. Education is pivotal for children, and can only be taught like this once while minds are still growing.

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
“I do not believe I should be considered over other applicants in the perspective of I am better or more qualified; I believe I should be accepted or considered because of what I can offer to Karakura Highschool/College and its students. When you think about it having knowledge alone does not make someone a good educator, after all my greatest experience has come from working directly with students of young ages and older as a tutor and academic assistant, learning directly from them I learned that every student approaches learning differently, some need structure, some need encouragement, and someone may just simply need another to listen and provide support where needed. My goal has always been to make education accessible and easy. Safe for all, rather than intimidating. And it is within that I believe I should be accepted, after all, educators have their jobs for a reason. Why not hire someone that would advocate for the students more than anything, even a decent paycheck? I do not doubt the skills of other applicants or say they are not qualified, but I do believe motivation and intent can make a very different outcome, whether that be positive or negative. and for students, or another group of people. Its because of my students, current and previous I am able to sit here today, confident in what I do” One leg slipped over the other as hands laced into one another neatly overtop of knees as his eyes met the others, he was serious and determined. But even with a no, he never gave up.
