Out-Of-Character Information

What is your Minecraft username?:
zacizach

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?):
zacizach

What is your time zone?:
GMT+8

Describe your activity on the server:
I would consider myself to be very active on the server! My hours can vary depending on what kind of activity I am doing that day, ranging from 2 hours up to 6 hours or more at a time (with breaks in between!). The primary reason for why the hours can lengthen is due to my primary-style of RP, which is detailed roleplaying.

Furthermore, my real-life schedule is relatively free with no major commitments to attend to as of writing this application, though I am wary of ensuring I balance my time between my real life activities to being on the server.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Yes, I acknowledge that if I am inactive, I will be demoted.

School Employee Role you are applying for?:
I am applying to be a Chef!

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:
In an ICLY sense, the Chef is a very important role to have in the school! Not every student leaves home with a bento box of their own, so their main source of nutrition and energy throughout the day will be found in the Cafeteria. Chefs are given the special responsibility of ensuring these students are fed and looked after. By dedicating time in the morning to prep a whole stock of meals in preparation of the long lines of students, to keeping their kitchen (and the cafeteria!) clean and sanitized for health safety!

But on top of their duties in the kitchen- outside of breakfast and lunch periods, Chefs also hold the responsibility of patrolling around the halls and keeping an eye out for any trouble. The Chefs have the responsibility of also handling disciplinary actions such as giving out detention or warnings as needed.

In an OOC manner, the Chefs provide a free food source for new players who do not have access to the /feed command. Most of the meal trays that are given out can be eaten 6 times, giving a hunger of 3 each. Thus, making Chefs a reliable source of free food that can be taken twice per IC day!

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
Most of my roleplaying experience during the early days have been text-based, and set within the comments or DMs of various apps such as Wattpad and Instagram. Because of this, I became fond of literature roleplaying as I enjoy being able to detail out my actions- as if I was writing a story. My interest in it amplified further when I moved into roleplaying in Discord servers- and eventually having my skills transfer over to when I first joined SRP. The first server where I am actively controlling the movements of my character, and being able to run around in an existing and visible setting. Therefore, I have been in SRP for the past five years (with a single hiatus and a couple of breaks in between).

Throughout my journey in roleplaying, I have come to enjoy the more simple slice-of-life moments, with the occasional angst and development. However, having been a part of various Clubs within the School have opened my eyes to different areas of roleplaying- one such example involves being involved with the server’s ever expanding lore. Another area is MusicRP, where I have also participated in two public events as a performer- where my interest in detailed roleplay is used effectively in that area. I have come to enjoy these different aspects of the server and I hope to slowly expand further into other areas as well!

Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
Having been on this server for long, I have always been interested in the School Faction as compared to other factions. Playing as both a high school and college student, most of my time has always been set within the school environment itself- whether it be attending class, club meetings, or even just roleplaying in the school. I hold many fond memories and have witnessed many teachers, professors and school employees with their unique personalities, working in their jobs. Out of all the factions, the School Employee faction in particular felt more up my speed as compared to the Teacher/Professor faction.

However, at the time I did not have the confidence and thus put off the thought of applying. Even if I had done it once in the past, it was a time I was going through heavy burnout and knew regardless, I would not be able to fulfill my duties as an employee.

With that said, I have come writing this application with such newfound confidence- especially after having applied for a shop that was put on Pending. Instead of waiting, I wanted to grasp the opportunity to try a new area of roleplay in SRP, and thus decided to apply for the School Employee faction now that applications are open!

Situations
/*Do not mention use of FearRP*/
────────────

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
What could have led to a situation for a student to say such a thing so openly? And to a school employee, no less? Well unfortunately for them, the only response Niki would provide at the start was a blank stare as he slowly blinked, using up precious calories for his brain to catch up with the insult that was thrown his way.

All that precious energy… where it could have been used for cooking! Niki sighed- Both hands on his hips as blue eyes raised to look at the student in the eye…

Before suddenly letting out a laugh! “Nyahahaha! Good try!” A big smile would appear on his face, not even taking the insult seriously. “Though, you shouldn’t be making insults towards the faculty! That’s a pretty rude thing to do, and you can get into some serious trouble.”

Then his demeanor softened, his smile still present as his laughter died down to chuckles. “You know… if you’re upset, you should eat! Here- I made this breakfast hot and fresh for you all to enjoy! But if you don’t like it- just let me know! I’ll cook something else for you!”

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
With an arm full of packed onigiris, and a single onigiri being stuffed into his mouth, his steps comically paused as he spotted the two students up ahead in a physical fight. It looked like a pretty serious fight, too. Instead of taking the most logical step that was calling for back-up in the radio located in his back-pocket, Niki sacrificed his precious onigiris to the floor as he sprinted up ahead. Not a single thought in his mind other than the fact that he needs to do something to stop this and he needs to do it now.

“STOP! STOP IT!” Niki would shout, sustaining a few injuries of his own as he forcefully put himself between the two students to create space. The bruises would definitely sting, but Niki’s eyes were wide with adrenaline as he looked between the two students, arms outstretched on either side. “No fighting!! .. Ugh- that hurt! Why did you have to punch so hard?!-”

There are likely two outcomes to this situation; One, where Niki handled it by giving both detention slips and making sure they both walked away separately, or it escalates and he desperately calls for help via the radio while still trying to keep the two students from assaulting each other further.

As much as this was part of the job description, it was evidently clear during such scenarios that Niki much preferred staying behind the kitchen.

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Well that’s a difficult situation to be in. Niki already has to deal with unruly kids, now he has to look out for his colleagues’ actions, too? Niki has a simple mind, but he at least knows when to act accordingly for the safety of the students depending on him! (And his food!)

So.. what to do? Well, Niki would ask what they are up to, first and foremost. See if this is a repeated behavior that’s going to be a major concern down the road. Even when Niki tried to keep his distance, he would still find himself worried and would attempt to get them to stop. In the unlikely scenario that this behavior continues, well, time to report to his higher-up!

Niki is just a Chef, not a judge. But even as a chef, he knows that students’ safety is a priority.

When in the employee break room, how does your character act?
Being in the Employee Break Room meant this is a PERFECT opportunity to finally eat his well-deserved meals and snacks! A BUNCH of them, in fact. If the break room cupboards haven’t already been filled to the brim with various snacks and drinks of all kinds, it would most certainly be now with Niki around. Though most of the time, those are reserved for Niki to munch on… But he’ll be happy to share!

While eating, Niki would happily converse with anyone present in the break room. Usually small talk about how one’s day is going, but Niki would focus a lot more on their welfare- if they have been eating properly, to be specific. If not, he’d offer them his snacks, or cook something up in the cafeteria! From here, Niki’s friendly and surprisingly social personality will shine as he gets to know his fellow colleagues more.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:

/me would hum a happy little tune as he wiped down the counters with a rag, a disinfectant spray in the other as he occasionally sprit spuds of soap before once again, wiping it. The scent of freshly-made food was all set and ready for the first round of hungry kids of the day, making Niki’s heart warm and his stomach flutter (and growl). He took a small break to stuff a cereal bar into his mouth before continuing on with cleaning up the kitchen all around… Unaware that a student had already approached and was waiting for Breakfast to start. When Niki did turn, he nearly choked on the cereal bar he was chewing as he spotted that student. But what followed after was a big smile as he finished chewing, and greeted them! “Good morning~!!”

/me tugged the strands of dyed grey hair loose from its pony-tail as he stared back at his fellow chef employee with panic. “What do you mean we ran out of ingredients?!” Breakfast Period will start in roughly an hour and a half, and Niki came into the kitchen late being told that their usual stock of ingredients haven’t been replenished yet for the week. What was meant to be the best part of the school day immediately turned into a nightmare. But that panic shifted into serious work mode as Niki tugged the apron off of him. “Change of plans! We’re all going to the market!- Yes, WE! I need all the help bringing the produce back here! I will not let these kids starve in the morning!”

/me munched on an egg mayo sandwich as he strolled leisurely through the hallways. No student in sight, no yelling in the distance.. It meant that Niki could enjoy his sandwich in peace! On his free hand he’d have his radio up, listening idly to the conversation happening between his colleagues with a third, new voice telling all of them to be quiet. He chuckled, intending to add his own input for fun when he spotted a lone girl up ahead- arms around herself and eyes drifting about as if lost. Sensing something was amiss, he stuffed the rest of the sandwich into his mouth and clipped the radio back to his belt. Jogging up to the timid student, he’d call out in a friendly tone. “Hello! Are you here all by yourself? Need some help?”

Backstory
Food has been a language Niki has known since he was a child. While his father was often occupied being the main star of a cooking show of his own called ‘Orihara’s Kitchen’, his mother (who is also an upstanding chef of her own) would be at their little apartment in Tokyo, teaching a small Niki who had to stand on a stool to reach the stove how to cook. It was only fitting that the child of two chefs would have a bottomless stomach, and adore any and all types of food no matter its appearance or taste. Food was Niki’s life, and it was a type of love Niki grew to understand and cherish deeply. Through the discipline given in working in the kitchen, Niki grew to be very independent and careful. The kind of maturity that parents love and encourage.

Unfortunately, his father became the victim of a scandal that shut down his cooking show and destroyed his family’s reputation in the culinary world- destroying everything they have worked hard for. Left to be forgotten over time.

Niki, still so young and unaware of how harsh the adult world was, could only watch as his parents became lost and adrift. He didn’t understand the decision they made in taking a ‘vacation’ outside of Japan to travel the world, leaving him behind at the apartment all alone. But he’s smart enough to figure things out, right?

Even with the monthly allowance, there were still so many things a pre-teen Niki did not know. How to manage his finances, for one, or how to help pay the nice landlord downstairs their rent. Most of the money was always used to buy ingredients and food, but what Niki did not realize would be a huge problem was his stomach.

A bottomless stomach, it was how they described with smiles on their faces. But a bottomless stomach meant Niki needs a lot more food to satiate his hunger- which happens too frequently. There were too many occasions when Niki would be in too much pain to move, his stomach growling for food when there is none left to give as the money given just wasn’t enough. It was only in the fourth month since his parents left that the old lady that lived next-door noticed how the Orihara’s front door was ajar, and nearly had a heart attack seeing an unconscious Niki on the floor.

A trip to the doctor revealed that Niki’s ‘quirk’ was an actual medical condition, but one that’s rather strange. Niki would learn over the countless visits to different doctors that the closest name they could give was something called ‘Idiopathic Hypermetabolism’. But for now, it was something they couldn’t give too much of a name too, and the only way for Niki to manage it was to just keep eating.

The old lady who had been so kind to him offered for her to look after him while his parents were away, but Niki refused. He didn’t want to bother her- especially now knowing that his condition would only bring a heavy burden on her shoulders.

But even while Niki remained alone in the apartment, occasionally, he would come visit the old lady and cook for them both, wanting to show his gratitude for her kindness. She was his closest companion over the years while his parents continued to travel the world, away from their son.

---

After graduating highschool, Niki immediately looked into getting jobs in various restaurants. He knew he wanted to be a Chef growing up, and thus saw no reason to continue his academics as he was too stupid for it- that, and, he wanted to have his own money instead of depending on his parents’ allowance, who were still giving it to this day. Over the years, he jumped from one place to another- gaining valuable skills from working in the kitchen with other people and the fast-paced environment. He would also meet a variety of people who left an impression on him, and him to them.

Eventually, he settled into a place called Cafe Cinnabon for majority of his twenties. Working both in the kitchen, waiter and counter, Niki would find his rhythm as he joyously conversed with the regular customers that came by. The pace was slower, but it was peaceful and it gave good money. Niki’s skills as a chef was appreciated dearly by everyone there, and Niki finally found a place he felt he belonged.

Until a week after his 27th birthday, was the notice given that Cafe Cinnabon will be closing down.

It effectively made Niki lose his job, and what began was a trend of job applications being denied left and right. Times are clearly different now, and Niki found himself feeling extremely demotivated- and hungry.

Alas, his savior came in the form of a loud, annoying, red-haired bandana-wearing man (who he may or may not have some kind of situationship with) who also quite literally kicked his door down and declared that he has the solution to all of Niki’s problems! Shoving a screen to his face, Niki would find an open application for a Chef in some place called Karakura- specifically a Chef for the School. Although doubtful he would be accepted, his friend reassured him that it would be perfect- that his cooking will bring a lot of smiles to anyone he cooks for there. Plus, maybe he just needs to be in a new environment to get him out of his slump.

Well, the worst they can do is say ‘no’, right? So Niki goes to apply for the role, allowing himself to feel that tinge of hopefulness blossom in his heart. He feels really appreciative of his dear friend for helping with the application, but he was also completely unaware that at some point right before submission, his friend would deliberately change his Academic Degree. No matter the experiences he has gained, it wouldn’t look good on his resume if he’s only just a high school graduate now wouldn’t it?

(And if he does get accepted for an interview? Well, Niki will rush to pack his bags and get the earliest flight to his new beginning, all the while wondering about the kind of cuisine they have there with his mouth watering but also cursing his friend for making him stressed with this last-minute packing.)

Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
“Well! .. I actually have no good initial reason. I mean, I was applying for jobs left and right but even with my experiences, I’m still getting denied. I guess it’s because times are changing, right?” Niki looked sheepish as he scratched his cheek, before animatedly moving his hands about. “Then my friend came kicking down my door- LITERALLY!- to show me an open position in KHS. A new place, I’ve also never actually cooked for students before.. All of it is going to be new! And I hate to admit him being right but it’s actually pretty exciting!”

His eyes sparkled, interested. “Maybe he’s right that I’m in some kind of slump, because I’ve never felt this inspired to cook before until now! Plus, being able to cook for all those hungry students, and seeing the smiles on their faces~.. I think applying for KHS will be good for me, with all the new experiences I will get working here!”

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
Niki hummed to himself, thinking deeply of the question… “I feel that’s a bit difficult to answer.” He’d chuckle. “I mean, as a Chef it is my utmost duty and pride to cook for others! So being able to cook for these kids and ensure they have a healthy and nutritious meal everyday- I believe it’s what every Chef wants!” At least, he hoped so.

He’d smile! “Though if I were to have to give an answer.. Over the years I’ve been on this earth I have gained fruitful experiences working at small cafes and family restaurants!!” He’d raise a hand to chest level, pointing to each individual finger as he started counting. “I’m pretty efficient with keeping my stations clean and organized. I am familiar with food safety- which is essential since we’re cooking for students! Their health is a priority! So ensuring there’s no food contamination and whatnot- I have experience with inventory management from my previous jobs- so keeping stock of our ingredients, noting the expiration date, etcetera.. I have done a bit of menu planning a few times! They gave me a lot of creative freedom with it!”

The hands would settle back down to his lap as he smiled. “If nothing else, I am confident in the skills that I have to work in a kitchen, but to uphold the responsibility and duty of feeding these kids a healthy and fulfilling meal!” A comical pause before adding on; “Hence, why I should be accepted over the other applicants!”
