Describe your activity:
When it comes to activity, I’d say I’m very active! SRP is a place where I spend a lot of my day, if not most, playing every single day since I’ve met so many amazing people. Every day without fail, there seems to be something more unique than the next to roleplay out. It’s been at least 5 or 6 months since I’ve begun my School Roleplay experience, and truthfully speaking.I can see this passion for the game continuing for a really long time. Weeks, months, you name it. As for my activity, I’m usually on throughout each day aside from work. My days at work severely differentiate, so I do want that to be known. I’ll list a bit of information below.
I’ve picked up on many things School Roleplay wise, a strong one for example, being GangRP. Although it’s a very huge learning curve, and the scenario plays a huge part in each action it’s so explorative and has allowed me to not only get creative with the actions I take, but extremely furthering my vocabulary. A strong passion of mine I really enjoy from this is P2L based combat.
I’ve dabbled into other roleplay experiences as well of course. I’ve reached college status on a character, I currently work under a few companies, and I even actively am looking to further expand my options, giving me more to do with those around me, and the resources I have available. A lot of these positions require me to use creative writing.

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
My motivation for applying roots from my eagerness to gain experience, and grow. Not once, have I ever touched a faction, or any experience other than casual roleplay. I feel as if getting into the Reporter faction would do me multiple favors. It would open the doors for me to step into the creative world of SRP, testing my ability to listen, and gain information, and my knowledge in writing.

I’m also very sure this will make communicating with other players easier for me. I’m interested in hearing what kinds of emotions there are in ICLY, and expressing conversational topics with likeminded players who are in the same experience as I am, growing with one another.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
As far as experience goes, I’d say I’m very decent when it comes to writing. I find it comfortable. Something meant to be used to express emotion. Writing is an art, it creates stories, and expresses emotions. One simple line can change how you view something, or someone forever. I’m aware of the power writing has, but I believe that’s why I enjoy it so much. It’s such an opportunistic thing to do.

Additionally, due to my time here, I’ve been able to grow in my writing skills. There have been many times where I’ve had to even challenge myself, character applications for example, because of how important they can be. So, I push myself as hard as I can when it comes to these things, I want to exercise the skills I’ve gained.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes, I understand and intend to follow all rules.

Why should we accept you over others?:
I truly believe I should be accepted over others due to numerous reasons, but a really important one being my availability. Everyone deserves breaks, and the ability to take time off, but I’m very much around when I’m online. I feel like being in a faction such as a Reporter is a great advantage, a lot of things tend to happen when officers are offline, not too many people are around to gather information, and stories when it comes to the things in the city I believe I’ll be able to make that happen with my availability.

On top of that, I feel as if I’m a strong writer. I’m far from perfect, but I do believe my writing is decent. My thrive to learn, and grow as a writer definitely stands out from others. I plan to use this opportunity as one allowing me to develop not only my roleplay experience, but myself! I’m very willing to learn, and try new things. I feel Reporter would give me that ability as It’d open not only new doors, but put me in all kinds of roleplay scenarios that cause me to think critically. Thinking critically I believe is one of the best parts of this, it challenges my ability to work under pressure, and allows me to exercise the current writing skills I have.

Additionally, I know my experience would be shown during my RP. I’ve spent a lot of time on SRP, my time in total may not be long, but I know I’ve gained enough experience to believe I won’t be corrected much when I begin. This concludes my reasoning on why I should be chosen over other applicants.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Yes.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes, I understand and will be actively completing my monthly quota.

Summarize what you imagine work as a reporter is:
When it comes to working as a reporter, I imagine it as gathering information to inform the people of Karakura. Even if the information in your eyes isn’t always correct. I believe a reporter collects information based on interviews, and reviews, asks questions about events going on, and studies situations to find out what they can do for the city to keep them informed. I have a bit of information already such as I know the main goal is to gather information. It's kind of being an investigator, searching for information on scenes noting things down, but not getting involved further than you should be. After gathering enough information, you post articles about such things online for all in Karakura to see holding a non biased opinion on them of course. This is what I believe Reporter work is.

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it

Full Name:

He’d step inside, sliding the door open scoping the scenery of the room out before throwing out a minor hand wave gesture. He’d welcome himself to the available seat, gripping the sides of the seat as he lowered himself onto it. He’d face forward hearing the question he spoke.

“My name is Onyx Manansala. Thank you for having me.”

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
Holding a warm smile he spoke.

“I prefer to go by my name, Onyx. And I prefer Mr/Mister when it comes to titles.”

Current Age (25+):
He’d cross his arms tapping his finger on his side while speaking.

“I’m twenty-six years old. I honestly hope I don’t get any older.”

He’d unfold his hands, placing them onto the table, resting one over the other.

Past job/work experience:
A simple coo would be released upon hearing the question. He’d lean forward now resting his elbows on the table. From excitement, his eyes dilated as he spoke.

“I actually worked during college. My buddies, and I were freelancers. We thought it was a way of earning money the way we wanted it. On the side I resold things I found in local markets. Doing that allowed me to develop great speaking skills.”

Degree/qualifications:
A subtle sigh would release from him as he picked his head up to answer the following question. He wasn’t very fond of his educational years, due to the length he spent in them. Nonetheless he’d answer honestly.

“I have a Bachelors in Journalism, and a Minor in Communications.”

Nationality and born location:
His eyes would wander off, exploring the room around him as he thought for a moment. He moved around a lot when he was younger, but there was one troublesome area he was born and raised in.

“I’m African-American, bored and raised in Oakland California. I later moved to Karakura after I received my degrees.”

Phone Number:
He’d pull a business card out custom made from his graphic designing skills. On the card listed all kinds of information, including his phone number.

“050-000-5452”

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:

“Well, I’d describe myself as friendly for one. I’m very open to speaking to everyone, you can’t make connections if you don’t talk. I’m very observant of others, even the most honest of people I feel have a story to tell, or something to hide. Not that it’s meant to be a bad thing. I’m just very aware of the room, very honest to those around me as well. Aside from that I’d describe my personality as welcoming, warm even. I’m very upfront with my intentions, but I’m someone reliable to the people I interact with. I was often told by peers growing up that I flip the switch of personalities too often, but I feel as if that’s a good thing rather than bad. I’m sure others would beg to differ. Nonetheless, I’m happy with who I am. Don’t plan on changing me.”

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
Processing his answer for a moment he’d make a jotting motion on the palm of his hand, smiling as he wrote. Pausing, he’d focus back on the question asked.
“Did you see what I just did? That simple hand motion filled me with a joy of sorts, that’s what writing means to me. Such simple motions can tell stories, bring life to things without it, and pass forth all kinds of knowledge to other individuals. That's what interests me with writing. It’s more than a simple pen, or pencil touching paper, it's bringing a story to life, it’s the opportunities it brings. How much can be shared, or told to someone, history itself being changed by a simple hand stroke. I’m interested in the power behind writing.”

He’d be beaming with joy, holding a look of excitement proceeding with his statements.
“I’d achieve my goal by gathering information from the sources around myself, and finding out what’s real with the facts, and then from there publishing what the people need to know. Everything remains unbiased, every piece of information being a fact I truly know. That’s how I’ll accomplish my interest, by writing how things are, not what people want them to be. Reality isn’t meant to be altered.”

A pause would be held, collecting his final words before continuing.
“Of course I’d get out of my comfort zone. People don’t grow by sitting in comfort, every hero you know of in the books took a leap to get where they are. I took a leap to gain profit when I freelanced, and resold. My life has been nothing but leaps, and stepping out of my comfort. I would never even think to stop doing so now.”

What are your expectations for the job?:
Taking in a deep breath he’d absorb all of his knowledge speaking with his heart.
“I expect this job to be as information as it is dangerous. Things can range from simple stories, and casual interviews to knowledge that can truly change how this town views something, or someone. For one, I expect the work to be very hands on. I believe I’ll be not only gathering information from others, but verifying things myself. I also expect there to be a bit of trouble when I’m dealing with things, the public may not appreciate, or like how something was worded, but I refuse to speak in a biased way. Overall, I expect things to be troublesome, but handled. I expect to have my body, and mind tested as I work in different scenarios, that’s all.”

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
He shook his head absolutely denying this.

“Nope, never been to jail and I don’t plan on it.”

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
He’d take this opportunity to sign a few words before actually speaking.
“I speak the native Japanese Language, I also speak English, and I’m fluent in Japanese Sign Language.”

PROMPTS:
You will have to write two reports about a topic of your choice. Here we can see how pronounced your writing is and how creative you are. Use your own formatting and your own report idea. (If you're found plagiarizing an actual report or another applicant, you will be denied.)

#1 - General report. Report about a topic, informing players about an event or significant issues to Karakura.
1786799543451.png

#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.

Two chairs would be placed down. Both individuals seated themselves, they looked at one another. Discussing the state of the town, answers must be given.
[ꄗ] - Interviewer

[♕] - Interviewee (Anon)

[ꄗ] : “I’m sorry to call you here on such short notice..”
Anon: “No worries!”

The mood would shift, greetings are done
[ꄗ] : “Could you tell me how safe you feel in town?”
[♕] : “I’d say not safe at all”

[] : “Why?”
[♕] : “It’s a good chance anyone you interact with is a criminal, or are involved with criminals.”
He’d take that opportunity to jot this down, carrying on now with the conversation.

[ꄗ] : “I see.. Would you say the average person is involved in crime?”
[♕] : “Yes.”

[ꄗ] : “Why not inform our Police Department? That’s what they’re here for.”
[♕] : “Because.. They don’t act fast enough, and if they do act there’s a lot to worry about when it comes to retaliation.”

[ꄗ] : “So, you’d say by informing the Police Departments you’re also putting yourself in danger?”
[♕] : “Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. And more often than not, nothing comes of it anyway. If something does come of it, the bail is paid off and they live carefree.”
He’d take this opportunity to further add to his description. Carefully noting down important pieces of information. Finishing up he’d tap his pen across the table intending to now further the conversation.

[ꄗ] : “Knowing this, why haven’t you made a complaint to the chief of police? The police department has a dispenser on the inside where letters are able to be left.”
[♕] : “Cause I don’t think anything would come of that!”

[ꄗ] : “You aren’t willing to try?”
[♕] : “KPD cannot possibly be this ignorant of how the people view them, and the system that they follow. So, no! I’m not willing to try. If they wanted to do something to change things they would have.”

[ꄗ] : “Have you ever considered the factor that they simply can’t? They risk losing a major piece of the department sending them out to every call. Some calls are possibly not even real. Every time an officer goes on patrol, it’s another day someone’s risking their life.”
[♕] : “Sorry but that mindset just isn’t feasible. By assuming that any of the calls are something unserious or can be fake you’re putting lives at risk. It is their job to protect the people. People who can’t defend themselves. It is in their best interest to take every call seriously. I say this because there are plenty of times where people need them. Within these times where they are able to help the people. Helping people should be the biggest priority.

[ꄗ] : “And if helping people doesn’t help their reputation? What if they spend all this time supporting the citizens, and nothing changes? Even when people do good, only the bad is viewed in the minds of our citizens.”
[♕] : “The thing is though it’s just like you said it’s a what if. Because at this moment, KPD is not doing enough to protect the citizens and decrease the level of crime throughout Karakura.”

[ꄗ] : “Well, what if the issue isn’t KPD, but it’s the people who reside with us? Going back to what you said, what if the criminals are you, or I? People could easily shame KPD, but add to the problem hours later.”
[♕] : “Then that would be an issue for the people who work in government. To make it so that crime is not worth it. Because even now, people could be making hundreds of thousands off of crime in a week.”

[ꄗ] : “So, you believe KPD needs to step their game up. What are some ways that they could start right now?”
[♕] : “Answer the Goddamn phone.”

A strong laugh would fill the room. Onyx staring at the person with joy in his eyes.
[ꄗ] : “Okay, thank you for your time. These answers will definitely help me out here. I hope to hear from you again sometime, hopefully with a better view.”
[♕] : “Thanks for having me.”
The scene ends, Onyx helping the individual leave the establishment.
