Not everyone can afford an alt I have been saving up money for a long time to get the animal whitelisting and when I bought it i didn't realize that I would be stuck as the 'dog' role. I thought i would be able to switch. I think there should be an option to switch between roles so eg. if someone wanted to be a police officer but a student too on the same account. They could just do a command such as /switch role and be able to click the available role they can choose. I think this is good for people who have multiple characters as such so they don't have to keep on buying alt accounts!
