ok i figured out how to set my characters name

hi! i have no idea if this is the correct place to put this or not but how do i make a character/change my ingame name? i looked on the rules and it says you cant be older or younger than your character, the server says my character is 13 and in 7th grade, im 18 and a senior (i graduate in june)...

minecraft keeps kicking me out of the server because of the pack or it not connecting, everything is good on my end, should i just not accept the resource pack provided by the serverr?
