Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:
I have been on many different sides of school-rp, which led to my diverse roleplay experience on this server. From high school teams, to council, to being a journalist, to being a part of the Hospital Faction. I have seen many sides and participated in all kinds of events, primarily events like the winter song-festival, or thrift shop’s modelling event, so I am used to preparing actions and also writing them on the spot. Due to my past roles, I have also learned to detail-roleplay, and grew a lot in my writing ability which I am very grateful to all the factions for, and I sadly had to leave due to my busy life at the time. However, I have not done something quite like this, and I would love to spend my time in this faction now that I have more free time on my hands due to my new schedules. My activity has improved a lot, and I currently have a lot of free time on my hands. My school schedule is flexible and my exams are almost all over, which leaves me with time that I would like to channel into something I enjoy: writing, and participating in events and classes for other players.

In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?
Professors are important to school-roleplay to me, because they are the ones giving the college students additional experiences to being a college student, they can help with PHD-projects and they are one of the main aspects of the server. Being a school-focused roleplay server, it requires realism, such as the teachers and professors, and the faculty teaching and working in the school. I always felt like teachers and professors were special due to how involved they are with the student-characters. They are also important due to their ability to teach students about Karakura, and what the server / town offers: such as the sports, the plug-ins, the history, the recent events. All of this can be taught through an ic-perspective and that is something that I want to be able to do myself.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the
Faction?

Yes, I acknowledge this, and I understand.

Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:
Yes. I understand, and I agree with this method!

In-Character Information

What's your character's full name?
‘Greetings. - Hans Hendrik Groenewald.’

Age (Minimum is 27):
‘I am fifty-one years old, and counting.’

Nationality:
‘I am of South-African descent. I speak a total of four languages, as well.’

Preferred Subject:
Physical-Education. It is a vital part of education for the students, and I have always been physically-active both in my past job, and in general. In spite of my age, I still work out regularly, and strive for a healthy life-style. I simply wish to help others find ways to exercise that works for them, and not for everyone else.’

Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different?
What are their plans for the future? Optionally, what is their past?

⁺✦ PHYSICAL-DESCRIPTION - [7'0, 51, South-African, Formal.] ⸝⸝⸝

Carrying the scars of a long life, this man hailed from South Africa, green irises carefully scanning every room he was standing in. Light blonde, nearly white strands of hair covered a scar on the side of his head: gained from something he describes as 'a mistake in my youth' whenever asked where he got it from. A lean build with well-formed muscles and a surprising amount of tattoos adorned the man, most of his ink hidden on a daily basis. However, if observed closely, you can see the edge of one of his tattoos peeking from his neck: the head of a phoenix. Carrying on his person were often a note-book, his phone, a pair of reading glasses, and a clip-board with his schedule neatly written in it. Upon closer inspection, a small oddity in one of his eyes could be visible, a slightly lighter green and a gentle blue adorning that iris on the inner circle: sectoral heterochromia.

⁺✦ PERSONALITY-DESCRIPTION - [ENTJ-A, LAWFUL-NEUTRAL, CABIN-5, RAVENCLAW.] ⸝⸝⸝
His personality is very dependant on the people around him, but generically speaking: he is polite and well-mannered, and typically leaves you alone if you want him to. Hans is not the type to keep a conversation going on forever, unless it is entertaining both parties and results in a mutual agreement. He is organized, strategic, and family-oriented. Groenewald's main objective for moving to Karakura was to be able to look after his nieces, as well as work through his past with an occupation that could allow him to do so: thus deciding on this application. His primary motivation to succeed is family and a buried fear of dissappointment from his elders. One of his best qualities is his ability to remain calm and quiet in highly stressfull situations: something he achieved through serving for many years before departing due to his mental health. Hans is a very proud man most of the time, and will speak his mind: in the proper way he has to do it.

⁺✦ SNIPPET-OF-BACKSTORY - [YOUNG-ADULT, GROWN-ADULT: DEVELOPING THE NEW DREAM.] ⸝⸝⸝

Hans Hendrik Groenewald, the first, was born to a married couple by the surname of Groenewald. He was born on the twenty-fifth of January, making him an Aquarius. Hans grew up in the South African town of Stellenbosch, not too far from Cape Town. Living in the 'shadow' of his older brother, Stefan Groenewald, Hans often hid himself when it came to his family. He was the younger sibling of the two, and he always felt a little left out. Despite this, he loved his brother and strived to be similar to him, learning the same languages he did and even considering enrolling himself into police academy later on in life. However, as the young boy grew up, he set his sights on different aspirations, which eventually led him to join the military for a few years as soon as he was old enough and eligible to do so. Sadly, due to this decision he missed a few good years to be with his family, but they were always proud of him for the things he did, and for the fact that he was able to stick to it. His motivation was never questioned by his family, and when he eventually had to leave the military due to his age and physical health, he was welcomed back home with open arms. But, Hans was not one for unemployment: he wanted to make a difference. And thus, his research began.

He read every article for every job in Karakura possible, intending to move to the small town in order to be closer to his family residing there. Despite wanting many other occupations at first, he eventually decided that being a professor would be the best option due to his health and his age. Upon reading through the requirements, the man first enrolled himself into college in order to get the proper degrees and the education required for the position. He did this in spite of his age at the time (fourty-seven), and he graduated college with a PHD, his major being: Exercise Science, and his minors being: Health Education, and Kinesiology. Upon receiving the said degree, and succesfully making one of his goals a reality, he sat down with his family to discuss his moving to Karakura. And within twenty-four hours, he was boarded on a plane and ready to meet his nieces, with the responsibility to 'look after them' given by his older brother. Once he arrived, the first thing he did was rest and write his application in order to not waste any valuable time. Hans knew exactly what he wanted and which position he intended to go for, so his decision to send the application was anything but delayed. Despite his age or his past, he has not given up on a more peaceful life: hence his move to Karakura for his family and new job-prospect.

(Note: I only included the more recent things listed in his current back-story, since I felt that was most relevant. There is more just in-case that is neccesarry should he become a professor.)
haNS.png

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?:
Hans has a positive view on his students, and always strives to see the best in them: even when they themselves struggle to do so. He is helpful if needed, and will not hesitate to help solve conflict. Being an older individual, he feels he always has experiences to share to those that want him to. Hans is a very kind soul, but also someone who will be direct should that be needed of him. Most of his knowledge comes from a life long-lived, and despite being described as ‘cranky’ by some of his loved ones, he is a polite man with the motivation to teach those without the same experiences. Groenewald would find happiness in getting to know his co-workers, and learning from them, and would put a lot of effort into his lessons in order to keep the student body engaged and satisfied in their professors' lessons.

What is their motivation for becoming a professor?:
Hans Hendrik Groenewald, quite a name, ain’t it? He takes pride in his heritage and in his life to this moment. If anything, he strongly advocates that age should not matter as long as you want something enough. Groenewald wants to motivate, teach, and learn from his students through this experience. His motivation comes from his family, leading to his ability to be patient. But, it also comes from his ability to adapt. From joining the army to now writing an application for a college professor: he has done almost all of it. Despite his age, this man has conquered a lot of battles even when reaching the age of seventy-one, and he simply refuses to give up on his goals. One of his underlying motivations is also that he has always admired his own teachers and professors, and eventually saw himself doing that at a later date as well. This is the time that he simply decided to go after his long-life dream of being able to teach.

Roleplay Scenarios

A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?
Hans is a very patient man, so he would begin with asking the student politely to stop, and asking if the student whom was thrown at if they were okay. If that does not solve the problem, or the other student was hurt, the old man would give a warning and resort to further punishments (according to the rules), or simply write an SLT-report. Either way, if the behaviour got worse or escelated, the throwing student would be kicked out of the class for the remainder of the period. Hans will prioritise when he needs to, and he will prioritise the safety of the student that was thrown at. He would also attempt to speak to them both, in order to figure out what had happened to lead to that. But, this is something he would do either at the end of his class or when students are busy working: to prevent the situation from taking away the learning time of others.

A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?
It depends on the student, and if they refuse to understand or are simply not sure how to ask for help. Either way, Hans would likely ask them whilst walking through the class, to make sure he did not ask the student publicly, which might make the student feel embarassed. If the student admits to not understanding, Groenewald will not hesitate to help them and maybe come up with alternative ways to learn the material. However, if the student simply does not feel like listening or refuses his help, he will simply leave the student alone for a bit and observe them here and there to make sure they really do not want any help from him.

When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?
Hans is a very proud but humble man. He would likely grab his coffee or tea and sit in a corner, unless someone approached him. Of course he wouldn’t mind talking to someone, or striking up a conversation. But, it might take him a while to adjust to who his co-workers are, and figuring out who he gets along with the most. Groenewald is a polite man and will always say things like ‘good afternoon’, it will just take him some time to learn how to keep a conversation flowing. However, he is used to a bigger family, and will easily keep up with a conversation as long as he is included in one he will be interested in: such as topics concerning history, physical education, or the newest news-paper. Hans will most likely make friends, just not immediately in the blink of an eye: he is more of an ambivert leaning to introverted nature. But, fair warning, if you start talking about science, he will not leave you alone. He is a man of science, and will talk hours and hours about it if given the chance to do so.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject:
⁺✦ INTERACTIVE-CLASS #1 - SPORTS ROULETTE!’ ⸝⸝⸝
During this class, we would gather at the center of the school, then pick a note from an envelope and read a random sport written inside. After that suggested sport is played for one game, we would gather and pick another one. For example: the first sport is volleyball, we would do one game, and then pick another one, for example: football, which we would then play for one game as well. With the time remaining, the students would be brought back to the class-room and asked questions surrounding the sports either in their homework or in the class before the period ends. Of course, if there is homework, I would make sure to do a small lecture so that they have all the information they need in order to fill everything out properly. With this class, students could experience sports quickly, and wouldn’t have to sit around if they did not like a certain sport. This would hopefully boost curiosity and perhaps even help them find a future prospect for a team to join!

⁺✦ INTERACTIVE-CLASS #2 - IMAGINARY SPORTS!’ ⸝⸝⸝
Huh? Imaginary sports?! Yes, that’s right. In this class, the students would spend one period discussing sports they like and what they would change about that said sport. And when that is finished, we could go over them and choose the best two ideas, then play those sports but with the changes and odd new rules the students had provided. It could be a fun way to introduce creativity into the rules of the sports, and induce a dose of healthy competition amongst students! Mostly the goal for this class would be to get the creative juices flowing whilst also being busy and getting out into the world of sports. Perhaps it would even motivate people due to some of the silly rules that could be written, and it would be a great way to introduce detail-roleplay to the aspect. For example, someone might write down that they have to play volleyball with one arm, which would be fun to write actions for whilst also keeping people busy with coming up with the best ideas. Also, who knows, maybe someone actually makes up a sport and we can play that! Interesting ideas, right?

⁺✦ FIELD-TRIP #1 - STADIUM THIS, STADIUM THAT. ⸝⸝⸝
Fame? Something most students in Karakura might either hate or love. It does not matter, something big that happens every year is the pep-rally and the tournaments. The time to prove which team is better, isn’t it? Well, I feel like a trip to the stadium, with proper sports set up, would motivate students to want to join a team, or simply play a certain sport more. Despite not being on a team, they would be able to experience what it would be like to commit to sports and enduring the stressful but glorifying tournaments. We could set up volleyball and basketball side-by-side (or any other two sports that fit and work) and have students play them for a small prize. There would be a prize for everyone who participated in the games, and the best scoring player would get a customized card to match their prize and serve as a nice memory for them to keep. After this field-trip, the students could all go back to class to briefly go over who won, what happened, how everything went, and what benefitted them from this experience. Any criticism given for ANY field-trip or class is always welcome, especially with field-trips like these: because it would help me improve ideas for the future. I feel like this field-trip would really showcase the team-aspect of sports we offer at Karakura High.

⁺✦ FIELD-TRIP #2 - BEHIND CLOSED DOORS OF THE FORCE.’ ⸝⸝
A field-trip to the KPD, where the students could ask questions, and learn about the daily troubles and challenges of being a part of such a physically (and mentally) demanding job. It could also be a moment for the students to do some kind of obstacle course and test certain things such as running on the track, or swimming through the pool. It would be an interactive day for the students to get to know a job for the future, one that is also important to understand given the crime-rate in Karakura. Who knows, maybe this is how they figure out their future job prospects! After the field-trip ends, the students could return to the classroom to be quizzed about certain things they learned that day, or perhaps just receive homework regarding it. This would also be the perfect time to discuss everyone's opinions, and how they felt about the experience, as well as all of their thoughts concerning the force before and after the field-trip. Perhaps this would give them an understanding as to how hard it truly is to be an officer.
