★ MIGHTY STARS CREW! ; lore

Tarxan

Level 25

Let’s just cut right to the chase.

There’s no sob story, no tragic background, no dead family, no childhood friend gone evil, no bully victim revenge story. There’s none of that.

The Mighty Stars crew was founded by their very own Sakai Dantei-Teki, better known as Dante. The goal was never to have the Mighty Stars be just a typical street crew, but to become a full-fledged bosozoku. But alas, when you’re in middle school, it’s rather hard to get your hands on any sort of cash, especially in an economically bloodthirsty city like Karakura. If you’re not talented, you’re nothing. If you’re not born or adopted into a rich family, you’re nothing. If you’re not a murderer, you’re nothing.

But that wasn’t a problem at all! Some may find standards like this extremely discouraging. Although it is in a sense, that wouldn’t stop Dante from achieving his dream, albeit with the help from a few others he picked up in Karakura. It was really all he wanted, and a town that’s rotten to the core wouldn’t rid him of his persistence. Dante had a dream, but he also wanted people to share it with.

Self-proclaimed tough-guys are not that hard to find. They tend to boast their ruggedness to those gullible enough to fall for it, even if all they spew are nothing but fallacies. Kobe Santiago was that self-proclaimed tough guy.

“This gangster came at me in a fist fight… with a bat, can you guys believe that? Cheap, cowardly! Unlike me!

He looked like a preacher spreading gospel to disciples with the way they gathered around to listen to his tall-tale. Pride was written all over his face, it was evident with the grin that he was doing his best to hide- but was unable to conceal fully. It was easy for anyone to see through a ruse like that, you would think. You thought wrong.

Dante was one of the strangers in that crowd. You’d think he’d know better.

It wasn’t exactly admiration that Dante had for Kobe, but there was a bit of curiosity that was sparked in him upon seeing the kid boast about his almightiness. Something that he found extremely intriguing was the mention of Kobe losing…

“My tooth!” He chanted, grinning wider to present his now removed tooth to the crowd. “That bastard took out my tooth with his bat! And you know what..?” Dramatic pause. “I had enough of him! So I winded the fuck out of him with a single uppercut! That’s right!” The crowd marveled at his claim, but that was about the end of his story. His watchers began to dwindle, and Dante was one of the stragglers.

“Did he really bring a bat?”

“Yup!”

Kobe lied through his teeth to uphold his pride, and Dante bought it. A bit of respect grew from these lies, unfortunately. However, maybe it was for the better. A tough guy… Sure, Dante didn’t know it was self-proclaimed, but it was a tough guy regardless. A tough guy makes for a good backbone for a bosozoku, Dante thought.

A tough guy makes for a good partner in a shithole like this.

And so the quest continued from there, with Dante and Kobe- No, No-Teeth. That’s what he wanted to be called. Now Dante and No-teeth were roaming Karakura together as two Mighty Stars that shine brighter together, and no longer singulars lost in the vast galaxy.

With a man like No-Teeth around now, Dante often found himself in places that he wouldn’t particularly reach on a daily basis. Bars, casinos, fight clubs-- they were all places that were a once every now and then thing to make a little bit of extra dirty cash. But now, he found himself visiting these types of places nearly every night because Kobe insisted on having him tag along. There wasn’t really any complaint, though. There was a little club in particular that Kobe enjoyed taking Dante to, located somewhere at the southwest part of town. A hidden basement club, sparse with people every time they visited. Maybe it was for the better that there was hardly anyone there. There was an entire apartment block above the establishment, anyway.

What did they call it… The club? Right, NEGATIBU02. Recalling what the place looks like, one wouldn’t really call it a club. More like a pub or a speakeasy with a small included lounge and all those little club-like amenities. Though small, the people there were diverse. But it always seemed like Kobe would come back for the same singular person. There was a girl that hung out at the corner of the bar counter, but what made her distinguishable from any other woman that roamed that pub, was that she always had a lollipop stick between her lips. It could be compared to the equivalent to a yakuza badge.

She always greeted Kobe the same, with a kiss on the cheek and what could be perceived as a scheming smirk. She never had to ask for her ‘payment’, as it was the first thing No-Teeth did after their exchange of hellos. He paid her with a singular, decent-sized lollipop. It always managed to put an even bigger smile on her face, showing off her sweet teeth, per se. It was a simple item, but one could say it was the equivalent of thousands of yen to her. That assumption was proven true right before Dante’s eyes, watching the exchange go down silently. A tap to the surface on the counter and a few words to the bartender, and the girl had received a glass of some sort of fruity alcohol- which she immediately handed to Kobe. It was an odd interaction in the eyes of Dante, to say the least, but at least he somewhat understood the purpose of it.

“Did you tell your friend here about my prices?”

The girl’s voice was piercing, it was almost like a sound could be identical to one’s physical being. A little bit taunting, too. It couldn't be mistaken for anyone else’s within the room, and what didn’t help was the fact that she was staring at Dante as she asked the question, even though the inquiry was meant for Kobe. It helped even less that Dante had already been gazing back to her from moments before she even spoke those words. The smirk she had on her face only grew wider with every second that passed-- and in return, Dante had given her a… Laugh to the face.

To say this caught the girl off guard would be a bit of an understatement. It surprised her, yes-- but not only did it do that, but it entertained her.

“I’m not here for you, I don’t even know who you are.” Dante said in counter to her, planting his palm on Kobe’s shoulder. Thank god, too. If Kobe swayed any harder, he would’ve ended up kissing the bar countertop. “I’m here for Kobe, that’s all!”
A firm grip on Kobe’s shoulder was the only thing keeping him upwards at this point. And with how trashed he was, of course good ol’ No-Teeth thought it was an appropriate time to say;
“She’s only fifty grand! I’ll wait for you- bro!”
A grimace spread across Dante’s face in distaste. The mullet boy shook his head before patting the drunkard’s shoulder twice only to turn him around to face the exit of the pub. His stare to the girl had only lasted a few seconds longer before he turned to follow the bumbling brute to the door, raising a hand to wave to her from behind as he called out;

“If you’re so interested in getting some yen off of me, help me get this fool back to our bunker! You seem to know him well enough!”

And so, she did. She tagged along with the two of them-- but never did get that 50,000 yen. Maybe it didn’t really matter to her anymore, because there was a new goal set in Tsumiko Milas’ mind from that night on.
