A chic young woman with a doll-like semblance. Where there was once long, carefully maintained, thick hair is now a curly skull-hugging pixie cut. There’s a white ink tattoo of a crescent moon right where her spine meets her neck, just barely covered by her clothes more often than not. And a ring is tattooed around her left ring finger. Her posture is aligned and her clothes are well kept. But looking closely, the facade is slipping. She smells of espresso and sugar. Sweet as it is, the dark circles under her eyes that she forgot to apply concealer to would beg to differ. You may catch her staring off into the distance. Her smile is a little weaker these days. This is a woman who has endured.

Ava was extremely shy in her childhood, but despite her exposure to some of Karakura’s darker sides, she blossomed into a friendly and optimistic person. Ever the romantic socialite, Ava was always happy to make new friends and take care of the ones she had in whatever ways she could. She unknowingly endeavored to overwrite the loneliness of her youth by surrounding herself with friends and loved ones.
Ava has a more childish side she’s always tried to keep under control: competitive, jealous, prideful, and fairly anxious.
Since returning to Karakura after a few years away, none of this has quite rang true. Ava has been reserved, single minded, and somewhat pessimistic. She pours herself into the next task in front of her as if her life depends on it, and easily finds herself getting tunnel vision.

Ava has always been a bit superstitious and as a child, she believed that she was cursed with bad luck. She dropped such a silly concern as she grew up, but the past few years have her questioning if she’s being punished by a higher power. With 4 years of marriage before her husband was taken, 4 years away from Karakura, and 4 years since she lost her best friend, Ava is nearly convinced that these unlucky numbers and tragic developments are a sign: she never should have left Karakura. She fearfully leans into these scraps of faith, not knowing what more can be taken from her, but praying that she’ll never have to find out if she only returns to Karakura and complies with the spirits.
Where Did Everybody Go?
Over the past few years, Ava’s closest connections have dropped like flies. She’s lost contact with her oldest friends and her best friend went missing the same year she left Karakura. After spending years developing a found family, and a place to house it, Ava’s efforts seem to have amounted to nothing. She returns now to Karakura with nothing, no one, and lacking a sense of familiarity. “Starting over” would be a gentle description of her situation.
Widowed Young
Despite being in her mid-20’s, Ava lost her husband, Sam Reed, one year ago while overseas. She might be tight-lipped about the ordeal if there were anyone left in Karakura for her to break the news to. Now, separated from her old friends and her family dwindling close to none, she’s returned home to Karakura in search of meaning. She hasn’t stopped wearing her wedding ring, but there’s now a tattooed ring just underneath it.
Vegetarian
Since her bond with one Ein Kaedehara grew into a strong friendship, Ava was inspired to try vegetarianism. She still continues the practice.

Ava spent a few years as an idol called “ANGEL”, performing weekly at Club Umbra, signing on with Hoshino Productions, entering town-wide music festivals, and collaborating with her best friend, Hua-Li. She took the separation of her alias seriously, always performing with a mask to preserve her privacy. But after the past five years have brought nothing but devastation, Ava would happily be anyone but herself. As she rebuilds her life from zero, she’s been considering coming out of retirement.

Ava was born in Rotterdam. The identities and locations of her biological parents are completely unknown to her. Her earliest memories include living with her older sister, Naomi, in an orphanage. Dutch was her first and primary language until the age of 6.
Ava was relocated to Japan at the age of 7. She was separated from her sister when she had to stay in Ishikawa Prefecture under temporary foster care while her older sister attended Karakura High. In Elementary School, Ava was one of a handful of students in a rural classroom, and was briefly part of a small class in Junior High before attending Karakura High.
In her first few years of living in Japan, Ava learned Japanese, attended school, and feverishly saved money to live alongside her sister in Karakura. At the time, she was extremely shy, and had great difficulty connecting with the few kids her age. She instead spent her free time writing to her sister, mending and making her own clothes, learning independent skills such as cooking, and earning money by running errands for a local textile producer.
Ava moved to Karakura at age 13, and slowly became acclimated to Karakura, its beauty, and its danger. She eventually made a living as a seamstress, and briefly persued music as a passion. She’s made many treasured connections - some bonded by trauma, and some by pure, unyielding affection - that inspired her to become a rose growing from Karakura’s concrete. But holding tightly to those connections seems fruitless to her now that they’ve all proven temporary.
When she was 21, Ava married the love of her life, Sam Reed, surrounded by friends and family. She enjoyed less than a year of newly wedded bliss before major changes began to take place in her life. As she and her husband were planning to move to the mainland to work with a relative, Ava's best friend went missing. Ava's remaining relationships to those in Karakura deteriorated quickly under the combined weight of distance and grief. They did not improve as Sam's job brought them to his hometown in America almost two years later, but Ava welcomed the opportunity to grow closer to her in-laws.
Ava and Sam had talked about a day that Sam doesn't return home, but not nearly enough. It was a summer night, almost two years after the pair had come to America. Sam did not return home, nor did he the next day. When Ava learned her husband had died on the job, she tried to stay with his family. At the very least, she hoped their shared grief would unify them. It only made Ava feel singled out: the pitiful "wife of the deceased" at best, the stranger the Reeds were indefinitely saddled with at worst. Two months of emotional imposter syndrome later, Ava moved to New York to be with her big sister once more.
Ava spent most of the past year in New York, trying to reconnect with her sister. But she found herself weighed down by an unrelenting homesickness, guilt, and a whole ****tail of nostalgic feelings that made her sick. She finally decided she had to come back to the last place where things felt right, where she felt in control of her life. After five years away, Ava is coming back to Karakura with little more than a luggage bag. No support, no resources, no plan.
All she wants to do is correct what she's done wrong, both in the eyes of any remaining friends who felt abandoned by her, and the eyes of whichever diety saw fit to punish her so severely.
