I'm applying for the position of a shrine Maiden.

WHAT KNOWLEDGE DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE OF SHINTOISM AND ARE YOU PREPARED/WILLING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE RELIGION?:
I know most of the basics, and I am currently studying in my own time about the religion. I'm incredibly interested in the subject, so learning more would not only be beneficial to my position,

WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR APPLYING TO WORK AT THE MONASTERY?:
My intense fascination with Shintoism. I've studied it for years now, since middle school. I visit the shrine regularly with my father, I've specialised in nailing down my praying to a T. We've built small shrines in our homes to honour those that have passed. My highschool love that I spent four years of my life with had an Aunt that works as a priest at the shrine, if I recall correctly. It was after meeting her, that I realised that the shrine was my calling.

TELL ME WHAT HISTORY AND INFORMATION YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SHINSEI SEINARU MONASTERY:
As far as I've studied, the shrine's construction started originally in 744 BC. Later in the year of 762 the construction was finished, and was centered mostly around Buddhism. Surrounded by tons of nature up on the mountains and away from most humans inhabiting the area, it was firmly believed that this would add to its' spirituality. If I recall, part of the shrine was burnt down. Yama-No-Kami is the kami that inhabits the Shinsei Seinaru Monastery. That's all I know, and have been able to learn about.

WRITE A LETTER TO THE MONASTERY LEAD :

Dear Monastery Lead,

I hope my letter finds you well, I am Ayame Tsukumo. I'm a young woman living in Karakura, and eager to join others in working at the shrine.
I'm an avid learner of Shintoism, my knowledge reads as far back as my humble beginnings. I was born to a mother and father whom took the religion of Shintoism very seriously.
I've grown around its' practices, often visiting the shrine with my father ever since I was old enough to walk.
Over my years of life, I've grown even more fond of my religion, and more eager to learn. I believe I am at a dead end however, as there isn't much more I can learn now, as a mere visitor.
Humbly, I am requesting the position of a shrine Maiden. In honour of my father, and my family, I would like to carry on our religion as a part of the monastery the way they all wished I would.

I wish to hear back from you soon.
My best wishes,
-Ayame Y. Tsukumo

BACKSTORY (100+ Words):

Ayame Yukimi Tsukumo was born on a cold spring morning to her parents Ayumi Myung and Hidetaka Tsukumo. In a quiet part of Karakura, the newly found couple lived in a small house, however under a loving roof. In the first three weeks of little Ayame's life however, things would take a dark turn. Her mother, fallen ill after the birth of her daughter, soon found out more than she'd bargained for about her husband's 'love life'. Distraught, this moment in their relationship would define the rest of her days. Which wasn't long at all. Not even at a year of age, Ayame had lost her mother to illness. Eager to correct his life, Hidetaka began immersing himself further into the family's practiced religion, shintoism. Taking young Ayame with him to visit the Shrine, teaching her the proper etiquette, how to pray efficiently, the young girl found herself absolutely enamored with the shrine.
From an early age, she'd visit the shrine weekly with her father. Although, when Ayame had turned 10, her father came with her less and less...
Disheartened, the young girl took to learning from books and going on her own. Knowing the etiquette by heart, she would bury herself in her study. Perhaps to spite her father? Who knows, truly. All that mattered to her was that she was learning.
Hidetaka took his leave from the city when his daughter was 17. Now, this no longer affected her. She was immersed in her studies of Shintoism, as well as the history of Karakura. Beginning to visit more and more often to drown out her problems and not have to think about them, Ayame found housing as close to the forest as possible to make her journey towards her place of comfort faster.. Graduating high school with exceptional scores, Ayame now dedicated her whole life to her studies. She'd stay cooped up in her apartment for weeks, filling notebooks with words, practically absorbing all knowledge she could. Having little to no friends, she didn't find there to be any point in socializing.
Late nights spent on studying with old records filling the room of her study from the dreary silence, with scented candles as her only company, Ayame soon found herself to be at a loss for learning from the outside.
Perhaps, a letter to the monastery lead would fix her problem.

SECTION 2: Self-Knowledge Details

What duties do Shinto Priests and Maidens have?:
Being seen as being closer to the Kami on a spiritual level, the Priests are seen as being of a higher power. They're in charge of the ceremonies and rituals. This doesn't mean maidens are of less importance however; they care for the shrine, and mostly stay situated within shrine grounds. Specialising in cleaning, handling the garden, all the duties in making sure the shrine is presentable for all.

What are the steps needed to be taken at the purification trough before entering the Shrine?:
Simply put, the purification is the rinsing of one's hands and face with the pure water at the beginning of your visit, ensuring you're pure enough to approach the kami.
In more detailed terms however, you're to grab the ladle in your right hand, fill it with water from the basin before you, and use a small amount to pour over your left hand. After you must switch over the hand holding the ladle, and give the same treatment to your right hand. Ensure that there's still water left. Still holding onto the ladle with your right hand, pour some of the water into your left hand again, this is used to rinse your mouth. Once more you are to pour water into your left hand, after which you should turn the ladle upright to allow the remaining water to rinse the handle. Return the ladle to it's place after emptying it out completely.

How are offerings to a Kami performed?:
This mainly depends on your specific beliefs and origins. Commonly however, you may simply politely hand over your offering to a Priest. The priest then purifies themselves, before passing the offering onto the kami. Most often you see rice, rice cakes, sake, salt and/or water being used as offerings.

How do you perform a tea ceremony ritual?:
The tea ceremony ritual, also referred to as tea gathering rituals, should be carried out in a peaceful spot. Most often a tea house of sorts. You're seated at the beginning of said ritual, the guests facing their host. The utensils are cleaned precisely in a specific order. The tea will be prepared over a charcoal fire, a kettle is to be used for this, and attention to detail should be paid as much as with the cleaning process. The tea is poured into a bowl and passed to the most important, first guest. Raise the bowl to respect the tea master, and avoid drinking from the front. This bowl will be passed to all guests, before being returned to the host.

Explain what a Tamagushi, Ofuda and Kagura Suzu is and what they're used for:

Tamagushi - It's a shinto offering, crafted from a branch of a sakaki tree. It's decorated with washi paper, cotton or silk.
Ofuda - A talisman, often made out of wood, paper, metal or cloth. Found in both Shinto and Buddhist temples.
Kagura Suzu - It's a bell set for kagura dance. It consists of three bell tiers, attached to a handle. 2bells on top, four on middle, and six on the bottom.

(OPTIONAL) Based on your character; which other Kami would they worship?:
