Yoo-jin was born to parents Yuna Jung and Jun-Seo Jung in Yang-Yang, Korea, living in a modest apartment near the beach. He was homeschooled, leading to a childhood devoid of friends or interaction, as he willingly opted to spend most of his time in his room from the age of 5 to 10. His mother, dealing with substance abuse, left him isolated, leaving him to witness her frequent intoxication and tears. Meanwhile, his father was largely absent, working tirelessly or spending time with another man. Yoo-jin's mother discovered her husband's secret, leaving him emotionally restrained to avoid potential homosexuality. His mother, discovering her husband's secret, left Yoo-jin emotionally restrained to avoid the danger of exploring any homosexual relationships. The weight of his family's secrets and his limited social interactions made him suppress any signs of affection or feelings. By his teenage years, he worked part-time at a local convenience store, desperately trying to improve his situation. The family continued to struggle, living hand-to-mouth as Yoo-jin's father's infidelity and work commitments left them with scarce resources.
