I know this post wan't needed- but I'm trying to help support baseball and the many people often say they know nothing when they first play the game on the server. I feel it may help regular players, as well as the two current existing teams. The teams themselves already have documents however I figured this would be more beneficial for the public to be able to view.

POSITIONS OF BASEBALL

Pitcher
The pitcher is the player who throws the ball from the pitchers mound twords the catcher, and batter to begin each play. Their main goal it to retire (Strike Out) a batter. The pitcher is considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game.

Catcher
The catcher is the player who at the beginning of each play, crouches behind home plate, and receives the ball from the pitcher. The catcher typically calls for the pitches using hand signals. The calls based on the pitcher's strengths, as well as the batters weaknesses.

First Baseman
The First Baseman is the player who fields the area near the first base. The first baseman is the player who is in charge of a majority of the plays made at first base. The player in this position is known to need good flexibility, and quick thinking, as the player needs to be able to catch a ball and tag the base before the runner reaches it.

Second Baseman
The Second Baseman is the player who fields the area between first and second base. They often need quick reflexes to be able to get rid of the ball quickly to the second or third baseman.

Third Baseman
The Third Baseman is the player who fields near the third base. The base nearest to the 4th, a player must pass this base in order to score a point so this position is fairly important. The third baseman is often the closest player positioned to the batter, and is required to have quick reflexes as well as a good throw. They often have to make a quick throw across the field to first base.

Shortstop
Often considered one of the most important positions on the field, they field the area between Second and third base. The shortstop i

s considered the most defensive and offensive player on the field. More hits go to the shortstop than any other position on the field because most batters are right handed rather than left handed.

Left Fielder
The left fielder is an outfielder that plays defensively. Left field is the area of the outfield to the left of a person standing at home plate while they're facing the pitchers mound.

Right Fielder
The right fielder is an outfielder that plays defensively in the right field. This being the area of the outfield to the right of a person standing at home plate while they're facing the pitchers mound. They often have to have a good throw, and quick reflexes to throw the ball from the outfield back to the infielders.

Center Fielder
The Center Fielder is an outfielder that plays a defensive position between the left and right field. They are often aligned with the pitcher and third base if you were to draw a line down the field looking from a top view. Much like other fielding positions they need to have a good throw and quick reflexes.

Do note that these are rules we expect the College and HS teams to follow while in play, when you're playing games on your own time the rules are necessarily required to be followed.

Team Rules For Baseball On SRP
Created By NukaRndz

GENERAL RULES

1. Games will follow an out of game score-bored to follow adding and reducing points based on fouls and being yellow carded.

2. Games will be played with a setup of 8 VS. 8. Each team consisting of a pitcher, catcher, all 3 basemen, a shortstop, and all 3 out-fielding positions.

3. The captain of each team will roll out of three to determine which team starts in the outfield.

4. Pitchers must pitch a ball that has some level of possibility to be hit by the batter. (There is constant glitching with the regular pitching mound and I think it'd be unfair to play with during real plays / games)

5. Batters must not run-jump while running the bases.

6. Teams switch every time the defending team gets three players of the batting team out.

7. You may only sub different players into the game in between each inning.

8. A full game will be played with 9 innings, no more, no less.

MECHANICS

For some the baseball plugin can be quite confusing, and complicated to master, but after knowing the positions of the game play, the only thing left to do is learn the mechanics of the game, and here's where Ill explain things to my best ability.

Batting:

Batting is setup as a bow mechanic, so to load the bat and read for swing, you use the same mechanic you use to pull back a bow in vanilla Minecraft.

Here's what it looks like from a view without the texture pack loaded:

After hitting the ball, you run the bases in a clockwise order, without getting tagged or before the base ahead of you gets tagged.

Pitching:

It's mechanics are based on throwing a snowball which is quite simple. your only goal is to throw it at the batter without throwing the ball too high or too low.

Although there is no official association for baseball, if you're looking to learn the game or get to know either of the current existing teams, feel free to join the baseball discord.
