Accepted BoneWiggler Receptionist Application

Codexed

Level 2
Out-Of-Character Information

What is your Minecraft username?: BoneWiggler (which is the alt account that would receive the role, but I'm active on my Codexed account)

Do you have Discord (If so, what is your discord username?): Sleeper#2272

How old are you? (Optional): Rather not say

What is your time zone?: GMT-6

Describe your activity on the server: Usually on for about 4 hours a day (17:00 - 21:00 GMT-6) when I have school to worry about the next day, but otherwise when school isn’t an issue I’d be on for around 6 hours or so (18:00 - 0:00), granted with summer very near, school likely won’t be a big issue for a bit.

Have you ever been banned (If yes, when and why?): No I have not.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?: I acknowledge and understand this, and in the event that I may have to go inactive for a longer portion of time I will make sure a higher up is notified / the proper forms are filled

School Employee Role you are applying for?: Receptionist

In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for: The role of a receptionist is to be one of the first face that students see when they enter the school; as a result, directing any potentially lost individuals where they need to be, and providing any necessary informations about classes or schedules. Additionally, it may be needed at times to remind wandering students to get to class in the first place, exchange reward tokens for rewards. On occasion it may also be needed for them to call for an individual over the intercom, whether it be to a detention or otherwise. Either way, a receptionists purpose is to do their best to keep the students well informed and following the rules.

What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?: Frankly, I don’t have any experience as a member of school staff, but in terms of general roleplay I’ve been on the server for around over 2 years now and can say that I’ve greatly improved in roleplay experiences. I’ve gotten into a practice of doing more detailed scenes involving character development, and have taken that practice into rp as a whole, going into situations with the intent of making it interesting or involving more detail rather than entering a situation to “win” or just get out of it quickly, meaning I’m willing to take a loss if it makes the situation interesting. Granted, that same reason is why I often try to avoid getting into some GangRP situations to avoid those who are simply in it to bait perms as well as avoiding the issues of failRP which occur so often (granted that shouldn’t be an issue should I get accepted considering that faculty are not permitted to GangRP.) Despite that I still make sure to keep updated on the rules regarding combat.

Outside of SRP, I’ve previously been on a few different Minecraft role play servers, though they were less well made than roleplayhub while looking for one that seemed more appealing. I’d say that one better example of previous experience would be on a Star Wars role play server on Gmod which I was apart of for a little over a year (if I remember correctly).

Situations

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:

First off, William would warn the young individual for using foul language on school grounds, and urge them to stop at the first warning before consequences would need to be instituted. He’d likely suggest that if the student had to release some anger they take it out on the sports field and put that energy to productive use instead! His aim would be to try and be understanding as to whatever reason the student may be lashing out while still ensuring that discipline is inflicted if they refuse to stop, knowing that he himself wouldn’t be doing them any favours for letting them go unpunished. William would then continue to resume his work and mainly try to ignore the young individual, but if the student continues to go on an insulting rampage, he would give them one more warning that if they do not stop, they will be facing the threat of a detention.. in addition to likely going into a lecture on the importance of treating others well because “you never know what they’re going through” and “words can hurt more than stones” and on… and on.. Assuming the student hasn’t already left at this point, should they continue to make more insulting remarks he’d give them a final
warning that if they do not stop then they will unfortunately be given a detention and proceed to again try to resume his work. If his final warning goes ignored, then the student would be issued a detention, and William would return fully to his work, ignoring any further remarks unless the student indicates that they actually would like to have a productive conversation about their actions.

You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:

First things first William would do his best to get between the two individuals breaking their line of sight, facing whichever seemed to be the main aggressor in the situation, likely making some “Woah there kiddos” type remark. He’d ensure the two students were separated and that the fight won’t rekindle again, having the two sit down nearby on a bench or something similar. His first priority would be getting both sides of the story before instituting any form of punishment. If it was a situation of self defence then the instigator would no doubt be receiving detention, and the one on the receiving end would likely also, unfortunately, have to be issued a detention due to the fact that they also exchanged multiple punches. Yet, if the student who was acting in self defence only resorted to violence because they couldn’t walk away William would try to figure out if this was a recurring issue and try to talk to the student to figure out different actions they could take in the future to avoid conflict. His main concern would be to try and figure out the main reason for the altercation to avoid further issues. After both students got spoken to, William would escort them to the nurse if there were any injuries present.

Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:

He would first politely approach the employee, (aiming to talk to them in private so as to not seem like he’s humiliating them) telling them how their actions are not suitable to be done on school grounds, and urge them to “consider the influence it could have on the kids!” and especially the consequences of their actions if they could result in themselves or another getting hurt. Should the employee continue their actions then William would likely try to find another staff member to get a second opinion on the matter, to double check that his judgement would be correct on the matter before reporting the issue to a higher up.

When in the employee break room, how does your character act?

William would potentially be mingling with the other staff, seeing how their shifts have been so far and seeing if there was anything he could do to potentially ease the stress of anyone else present while enjoying a cup of coffee, even likely offering to get coffee for other co-workers present.

Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:

/me &#E0A660He swivelled in the seat and began straightening the miscellaneous papers in front of him, ensuring he had enough schedules to hand out for later, even twisting them into a spiral pile to make for easier distribution. He took a look around the area checking in case there’d be any students who would need his assistance in the next few moments before taking a scrap piece of paper and folding it into a paper crane, setting it on top of the pile of schedules with a satisfied grin. &R”Perfect!”

/me &#E0A660He gave an attentive nod at the students question, taking out a sticky note and sketching out a small map as he spoke &R”So if you want to get to the library it’s just up those stairs,” &#E0A660he pointed to the stairwell to&l his &#E0A660left and continued speaking. &R”Then up twice to the third floor, keep going that way and it should be on your left!” &#fdd2ffHe gave the student a friendly grin, passing over the sticky note. &R”Need any clarification?”

/me &#E0A660He’d gladly accept the student’s reward tokens with a warm smile, rather pleased that they’d done enough good deeds to earn them in the first place. He flipped his thumb through the tokens, counting the amount present before looking back up towards the student. &R”Wow 35! Great job bud, what would you like? For this much you can get a Neentendo Switch, DS, or a gameboy!” &#E0A660He gestured to the outer side of the receptacle, inserting a quick &R”Oh and if you don’t know what the other cheaper prizes are, the list is over there!”

Backstory

Schooling & Pre-Karakura
William Pradgh Murphy was born on February 27th 1982 to two loving parents in Fairbanks Alaska. Throughout his childhood he seemed to be naturally inclined academically towards maths and sciences, eventually sparking his desire to go into accounting, well, mainly it was because he thought it would be easy but later on he began to genuinely look forward to the idea. At the age of 17, William began to attend Fairbanks Central university as well as beginning an apprenticeship at a local accounting firm to get experience as well as begin earning a form of wage. Then a year later at the age of 18 he moved out of his parents home to an apartment near the campus, and continued his apprenticeship to gain a further sense of self reliance, although he still received minor assistance from his parents when needed and ensured to keep in touch. At 19 William met his wife-to-be, Peggy, and the two ended up dating for 3 years until they got married at the age of 22. A year later, after finally getting his degree and both were graduated, William now working full time at a bank, they decided they were ready for a child. A beautiful daughter named Maeve who was born to the couple while William was 24, then 5 years later their second child was born, a son named Rory. In terms of work, William had gained some experience in working a job similar to that of a receptionist in his position of a bank teller, working with customers to help manage their finances and deposits properly, staying in this job for around 6 years. Although the details may give the impression that the couple and now family were smooth sailing, the rocky road of the marriage took a sharp turn.

Bump in the road of life
At the ages of 4 and 9, Williams children, Maeve and Rory were brutally murdered by their mother in a premeditated act of bloodthirsty malice, motivated by a sinister urge to leave the marriage without the worry of custody, and the aim of taking everything away from her husband, hoping for compensation should her plot to frame him succeed. And it did, due to the careful planning, sealed off by testimony from a false witness. At the age of 33 William Murphy was falsely convicted for the double homicide of his two beloved children, divorced, and left with nothing, not even being able to attend the funeral of his precious babies. Life in prison was far from ideal, becoming a part of his life he’d much rather block out from his memory, although he carries a reminder of that point in his life through a prominent scar under his left eye.

Transition up to Karakura
Three years after his false conviction, due to the confession of the false witness and another somewhat lengthy court trial, William was released from prison custody and allowed to roam free at the age of 36… Free. Yet he had almost nothing, except what he was allowed to keep in the divorce and no place to call his home. He was able to fall back to living with his parents for a period of time before he was able to file for compensation from the prisoner exoneration fund, and ended up receiving an upwards amount approximating $160,400. He remained in America for a few more years to build up enough savings to eventually move away on his own, as well as dealing with the formalities of trying to clear out his criminal record. At the latter portion of 38, William finally said goodbye to his parents and moved to Karakura Japan, getting his reigns on the city and focusing on being able to support himself financially. Now, at the age of 40 and hearing of an opening position at Karakura High School, he hopes to gain a less stressful change of pace, taking a familiar position as a receptionist in an environment he hopes he can make a difference in, aiming for that role in part due to his prior experience as a bank teller, hoping it, as well as previous work experiences would have properly equipped him for such a position, as well as looking forward to be able cooperatively work with students in a manner to simply their school experience in any way.

Motivation for Joining KHS: I’ve always noticed that things in this world never seem to be fair and that too much of the time, people end up getting the short end of the stick when it comes to how they’re treated by others, and I realized that a lot of that behaviour stems from influences when people are young. I hope that in working with the kids at school I can help to provide a positive learning environment and hopefully act as a positive influence on the young individuals who attend the school, doing whatever I can to serve those around who may need it! Yes, I know that when kids break the rules in school that punishment should be given to an extent, but I hope that in addition to my role to enforce the rules of the school, I can also try to respond in a productive way to deal with any reasons why they may be deciding to break the rules or act out in the first place.

Do you have any previous experience working in a school environment? If so, please elaborate (If not, respond with "N/A"): N/A

Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?
: While I haven’t particularly worked in a school environment, I have had years of experience working in a bank teller position which I believe would greatly contribute to my capabilities as a receptionist, considering the commonality of the two occupations in regards to assisting and interacting with customers, or in this case, students. In addition, someone might think that a person's value in the workplace comes from experience and skill; while those aspects are clearly important and I do no doubt have experience in positions involving forms of “customer” service as well as organizational abilities acquired through jobs working in accounting, I know and acknowledge that my capabilities, like everyone, are limited to an extent, and there will always likely be someone out there that will know more than me. I think that I should be accepted as an applicant and stand out in comparison to others because, in order to achieve utmost productivity in a workplace, it is important to have a mindset that is willing to learn and ask questions, especially in being able to humble oneself enough to admit when they may not know something, and I believe that I base my actions on such a mindset, and thus can act as a valuable asset to the faculty.
