Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:

Teachers are the frontlines of SRP. The classes that teachers host will often be some of the first memorable experiences for new players. It's important that these teachers can provide a good first experience for these players so that they feel welcomed to the server and free to engage in roleplay. Without teachers, players when first joining may feel lost or overwhelmed by everything that SRP has to offer. Our teachers can provide that guiding hand to welcome these players and make everything more enjoyable and streamline - basically making everything simpler and easier to process.

In roleplay scenarios, teachers also play a crucial role in progressing through college, if one so chooses to do so. They inform students of opportunities past school, such as joining any of the other factions that Karakura hosts or even just growing to adulthood through college progression. In all, teachers should provide safe places, and a welcome face to anyone that is willing to learn.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?:
Yes

Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?:
Yes

In-Character Section

What's your character's full name?:
Naia M. Koradicus

What is your character's nationality?:
European

What is your preferred subject to teach?:
Performaing Arts (Drama)

Describe your character:

Naia would be a short girl, a rare occasion for her to be taller than any other individual of her age. However, her demeanor stood very tall. She was an orderly woman, somewhat strict. but nonetheless, she attempted to keep a positive mood. Unless provoked, she would usually be calm, besides certain occasions. Even when she is provoked however, she keeps the calm tone, possibly a bit passive aggressive as she remains cheerful while reprimanding a student.

Her eyes were a heavily flavored hazel, perhaps a bit darker than that. The small beads were plastered against a slightly tanned face. The woman dawned a honeyed complexion, looking more on the younger side, 29 years of age running through her. A warm smile would take form at her lips for the most part, although at times she would be seen more shallowed and weaker, like a lingering sadness had a firm grip at her throat. She walked with stride, purpose with every step taken. Purple streams of hair would cascade down, resting just at her shoulders and framing her face.

Naia has always strived for perfection, accepting no less than great. She was born in Europe, London, to be exact. Her family was dysfunctional. Her father was usually never at home, an alcoholic. The only important thing that man gave was Naia's decision to swear off any sort of substance. Her mother, on the other hand, was great towards Naia. She blotted out the darkness from her father and it allowed the girl a second chance.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:

Naia treats everyone she comes across with respect. She holds no bias towards students or co-workers, and treats everyone fairly, no matter who they are. She believes that each and every student has great potential to become something more, and that she's obligated to teach the next generation of Karakura how to do exactly that. Naia is not one to cling onto a grudge. A student can always redeem themselves, and that it is the school's duty to provide that second chance. She is always sympathetic towards the students; they are kids, and they don't fully understand themselves. She is always welcome to lend an ear to someone in need, whether that be a student, or a co-worker.

She believes that her co-workers, and herself for that matter, all have something to gain or improve on by talking and working with each other. Her co-workers are resources as well. Normally, she tries to remain strictly professional with her co-workers, but is willing to engage in friendly conversation with them.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:

Naia was raised poorly, the only real support coming from her mother. She took this bad experience and turned it around. Why was her father always drunk? How did he get to that point? Those were questions she wanted to teach students the answers to. Perhaps education could prevent a tragedy. So, why drama, you may ask yourself. Two reasons; One, the subject can provide a safe space to students who may have already fallen victim to the horrors of Karakura. A brief escape to take a break from the outside, give the new generation a hope that things can get better for them! The second reason, drama allows students to take a look inside of another world. The situations and roles that we play can demonstrate some of the harsher realities of the world, while still staying in a safe bubble, just observing.

For example, plays that take place during the civil rights movement of America, can show us the hardships that African American citizens endured during this time. It lets us see the brutal living conditions and helps youngers students have a deeper connection to these times and feel empathy for the ones living then. This allows students to gain an understanding of the topic, realize why it's bad, and avoid repeating history. The same can be done with any topic, really.

She chose drama because in her mind, it was the best decision to help students grow as people - and so is why she chose to teach. She wants to be that guiding hand her mother once was, to all people.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:

Naia, first, would inform all students that they are free, and encouraged to speak up if they are struggling. This is to ensure that she actually knows when they don't understand things.

If a student was struggling, Naia would ask them to try and pinpoint what they're struggling on exactly, and then in the most concise way explain the topic to the student in more depth. If they still don't understand after that, she would throw up a quick example of the subject on the board to show a visual of it. Again, if they don't understand after that, Naia will continue teaching as to not disrupt the class, and if there is ever a free point where she has time to talk to the student, she will go to them and try to have more of a one-on with them. If she doesn't have time for that, then she will simply ask the student if they could stay back after class so that she could give an even more focused demonstration or provide the opportunity of tutoring.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:

Naia would simply ask the student to quiet down and listen to the lesson, they can talk later during a break or after school. If the student continues to be disruptive, she would once again ask them to be quiet and that if they continue to interrupt the class, she'll have to give the student detention. She will also inform them that they do not have to be in the class if they act like this. If this continues once more, Naia will issue a detention to the student, telling them that if it continues she will let SLT handle it.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:

Interactive Idea One

Drama History Day

A special lesson, that would be primarily used at the end or start of a unit as a reward for the students' hard work.

The class would start off with Naia introducing the class with a play that was created in the past, possibly Shakespeare. She would select a few students to volunteer and act as characters, running through a scene in the play. After this, Naia would sit down all of the students, congratulation the performance of the volunteers before giving a short rundown of very early drama history. She would describe the meaning of the word drama, the cultural importance of the subject, and it's origins from ancient Greece civilizations.

She would then take another play, more recent in time than before, and have students act a scene out from that. After the scene is done, she asks the students on what they saw between the two plays, the differences and similarities from an older play and a newer one. Once students point certain notices out, she would ask them why they think the plays are different, and what has changed over time.

After that, she would provide the students with two scripts, one script of a very old copy of Shakespear, and another script of a newer rendition. She would have them read through it and find differences between them.

Interactive Idea Two

Dramatic Telephone

Based off the popular icebreaker game, "telephone." A topic for a scene would be picked, out of a pool of options. Examples for such would be as follows;

Parents getting angry at a kid.
Police officer arresting a criminal.
Court case.
Marine biologist discovering a new species of animals.

The topic would then be whispered between two selected students, who will act out the scene. The other students will watch, coming up with ideas of what they think the prompt was. After the scene, one student will raise their hand and whisper what they think the prompt was to the teacher. Naia would then take two more students and whisper the prompt that the prior student had guessed. Those students would then repeat the scene with the new prompt.

This would go on for a few more times, before at the end of class, Naia would list out the prompts and guesses that were received, seeing how far off the guesses were.
