Backstory
Camila was born and raised in Polanco, one of the nicest neighborhoods in Mexico City. Her parents loved her deeply, but when she was young, she spent most of her days with her grandmother, who taught her how to cook and care for her surroundings. Camila loved helping in the kitchen, smelling the garlic, herbs, and smoky paprika fill the air, and experimenting with little recipes of her own. She grew up surrounded by the small joys of life: local festivals, colorful markets, and quiet mornings spent with flowers or sketching in her notebook. Her Shinto beliefs, passed down from her grandmother, taught her to notice the little spirits in everyday places and to appreciate the simple things. When Camila was sixteen, her world changed—both of her parents passed away unexpectedly. It was hard at first; she felt alone and unsure of how to move forward. With her grandmother’s guidance, she moved to Karakura, a new city where she learned to navigate life on her own. She found comfort in cooking, designing clothes, and keeping her parents’ memory alive by staying cheerful and kind. Her orangy-blonde streaks in her hair started as a summer experiment with friends, but it quickly became her signature. Even with loss in her past, Camila strives to make life bright and welcoming for herself and those around her, always noticing small joys and sharing warmth wherever she goes.
