Carlo is an extrovert, who likes to spend time with people. Most of the time, he would spend time talking about his past experiences while being in Italy, or about what is the future going to be. He tends to remain neutral in conflict, although he would prefer to avoid it at all costs. Doubtful of everything he is being told, Carlo only believes what his family and life has shown him, making him a very hard person to convince.
He shows greediness and lust whenever an opportunity is shown, tending to prioritize personal gains over the care of people. Nevertheless, if not faced with this dilemma, Carlo will remain strongly loyal to the ones he cares about.
Being the youngest of the Bendetti's family, Carlo would show an envy character towards his brother as a defense mechanism. Whenever mentioned Michele, he would show jealousy towards his older brother due to his wanting to become like him, but trying to hide it by antagonizing him most of the time.
For Carlo, self benefits comes first, even before his own family. However this does not mean that he would be naive enough to endanger them nor the ones he care. Being poorly raised by his brother Michele helped him in developing prioritizations over things that would not benefit all the parties, but rather his own personal satisfaction or gain.

The Bendetti’s family was once one of the most well-known and respected families across southern Italy due to their loyalty to the Inzerillos, a famous Sicilian Mafia clan. In the beginnings, the Bendetti’s were a poor family that lived in Bari, trying to recover from the aftermath of World War Two. In the family, there was a young adult called Antonio Bendetti, hopeless and tired from the lack of support for the province, decided to travel further South, to the Sicilian Peninsula, in order to find new opportunities. It was in that place where he met a mafia member Carlo Gambino, who decided to give Antionio an opportunity to be a member. Antonio became a trustworthy individual, completing every task his bosses sent him. He settled in Trabia, where he continued to operate as dealer and messenger for the Inzerillos. In that place, Antionio met Angela, a younger female from a wealthy family, which he felt in love with. However, his clan prohibited him from dating Angela, and her family did not approve of Antonio’s affiliation with the clan. Despite being from another social class, he did not give up on Angela, and started to plan how to leave his way of living. It was in 1981, when the mafia war started, when he found an opportunity to escape with Angela to a town called Caltagirone, where they married and had their first son Andrea. Thanks to the money from Angela’s family and Antonio’s background, they became a respected family in the area, helping the locals to recover from the war and help by investing in their commerce. However, the mafia never forgot about Antonio, beginning their search for the man that betrayed the clan when they most needed him.
Being the youngest of the Bendetti's brothers, Carlo was the third born of Antonio Bendetti and Angela Baggio in the city of Caltagirone, Sicily. Being raised by his older brothers, Michele and Andrea, he was well educated and protected in comparison with the rest, having the blessing of being the most promising member of the family. His older brother, Michele, took care of Carlo since his birth, fulfilling the role of father figure while Antonio was absent. However, due to the lack of experience of Michele, Carlo would develop a greedy attitude, being the main center of conflict when a family dispute arise inside the household, but ultimately being excused for his status as the youngest brother. At age 14, the Bendettis moved to Vacone, where they tried to start their new life. This would enrage Carlo, as he felt a deep connection and love for his hometown, wanting to go back and constantly being in discussion with his older brothers towards the decision of leaving. Ultimately, developing a sense of resentment towards his brothers, specially Michele, who was the one that argued the most with, severely deteriorating his relationship. This resentment would be aggravated with his father decision to move Andrea, Michele, and Carlo to Japan, far away from town, plus Michele's lack of attention while spending time with a girl, that made Carlo decide that he did not wanted to do anything with his family, looking at them as traitors and people that did not wanted his own benefit.
One day, Carlo was sent alongside Michele for their weekly groceries supplies in order to calm the airs. However, for the Bendettis, that day had other plans in mind. While the two brothers were absent from the house, the Inzerillo’s clan invaded the house, demanding compensations of Antionio’s betrayal. Michele's father tried to negotiate with them, explaining that they did not need to harm innocent people, that they wanted him and not his family, but they did not care. As Carlo and Michele were heading back to the house, Michele quickly took him to a girl's house. Realizing they were not going home, and angered after realizing were they were going, Carlo started arguing once again with his older brother, but this time Michele did not payed attention to him, he was too concentrated towards a loud noise that Carlo did not heard because of his screams. After spending some time inside the girl's house, confused, and angered, demanded explanation of what was going on, without hearing any answers. Confused, he went with his brother back to his home, only to hear both of his parents crying, being blocked by Michele's back. From that day on, Andrea was never sawn.

When Carlo turned 16, his foster parents decided to send Michele to the town of Karakura to finish his studies, letting Carlo continue his studies in the capital of Japan. However, due to a call from Antonio, he was sent to his brother in Karakura, later learning the reasons why he was sent there. In there, he once again tried to find stability, in a place that he never knew before.
