Backstory: Chris was born as the ‘get in the way’ child, meaning he was something his parents never wanted. Even if he was a bright kid and son, James, his older brother was usually showered with attention, gifts, and whatnot, giving Chris a little grudge against his older brother, which worsened when he was neglected every single day. Sometimes enduring unreasonable or random punishments from his parents or mostly his father, Boris Redfield. Only his friends or neighbors would ever comfort the little Chris and protect him from the abuse. His brother, James, knew how bad this was and tried his best to direct the love and adoration to his younger brother, to no avail.
One day, when his parents had enough of him during his time in middle school, he was forced to go to a far away, prestigious private school in New York. He got kicked out of it because it was simply something he wasn’t ready for, unlike his brother, who was a real genius and albeit a nerd. When his parents found out, his mom, Melissa Redfield, simply let it slide. But his father, Boris, was another story. He’d scold Chris, not laying a finger on him, simply stating that he was a disappointment and not good enough to carry his name, meaning his surname and lineage. This deeply impacted Chris, causing him a few outbursts or run away from home.
Eventually, when he was old enough, he found an opportunity from a friend, Leon, (OH COULD THIS BE A REFERENCE TO LEON J KENNEDY, MY OTHER CHARACTER!?) to move to Japan since he had taken a diverse bilingual path. He didn't bid farewell to his parents but said goodbye to his older brother, who was vastly more empathetic and took pity on Chris, his brother, James bidding him farewell before Chris would eventually leave.
Chris would later find out that his brother died from an incident a month later. Now, he traverses around, looking for meaning, and masking his inner turmoil with a persona he has built up, trying his best to get by and prove that he isn't a disappointment.
