Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Since this is SCHOOLRP, teachers are pretty important, and a human player behind the screen teaching users' characters is more entertaining and interactive than if there were AI teachers. Each person who has a teacher role has a responsibility to plan out lessons, teach those lessons, and to make sure that students are behaving the whole time. It's also very important that teachers follow both IC protocol and OOC rules of the server, for everyone's irl safety and for the safety of the characters.
Without teachers, it would be boring, and having teachers who aren't committed to the role is worse. it's important that every teacher is ready for classes, and ready to be active on the server until they wish to leave.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes
In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Yoshiro Kitamura
What is your character's nationality?: Japanese
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Physics)
Describe your character:
Yoshiro is 5'11 with blonde hair, brown eyes, freckles that bridge over his nose and a usually quiet or soft voice. Ever since Yoshiro was a child he's been fascinated with space, planets, black holes, everything like that, and his passion is obvious since he usually has a NASA badge on his tie, shirt, whatever he's wearing, he has that badge. Yoshiro is autistic and so regularly gets "burnt out" with socializing, but he always tries his best to keep friendships and respects everyone he works with in a professional level.
Yoshiro is the kind of guy who experiments with his outfits, though he'll always dress appropriately for work and other occasions, he's not afraid to rock shorts in the snow or a Christmas sweater on the beach in July. For fun, Yoshiro enjoys singing to himself, playing guitar, using his telescope on clear nights, browsing the NASA website, and cooking.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Yoshiro is open to socialize with students and co-workers, he works hard to make sure his autism doesn't effect his work and professionalism. He would prefer to keep friendly with his co-workers to avoid unnecessary drama, even just saying hi every now and again or bringing homemade goodies during the holidays. For students, he'll avoid being strict if he can, but he will show authority when needed in order to correct bad behavior. When it comes to his lessons, he will regularly check if they're paying attention by asking random students questions about the current lesson being taught throughout, which should hopefully start a trend of paying more attention during classes everywhere.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Yoshiro, like mentioned above, has always had a deep passion for space ever since he was a child, he taught himself everything he could, he went to college for astronomy and gained himself a degree and qualifications with ease. However, his main goal wasn't to gain all the knowledge, it was to share it! Therefor, he decided that being a teacher would be the easiest and most effective way to spread the knowledge about space, decrease fear of the unknown, and increase passion. Not only that, but being a teacher would mean Yoshiro would get many opportunities to have an autistic rant about space, which is a big plus for him.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Yoshiro would try to explain in different ways the particular part where the student is struggling, he will keep explaining and finding new ways to explain until the student understands at least a little, then go from there. Yoshiro is a patient person when it comes to teaching, so he'll always try to understand, and never raise his voice when it comes to teaching.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
First, Yoshiro will ask them to quiet down, to pay attention. If that doesn't work, he'll separate them onto an empty table or hand them sit at the front where no one sits. If all else fails, Yoshiro will eventually give 3 warnings before kicking the student out of the classroom and continue the lesson as normal.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Class plan 1:
Reading out the current day's news on the NASA website, then creating mini presentations about their favorite part that was read out. This class plan lasts for 3 lessons, the first half of the first lesson spent reading the NASA website's news page, the second half would be planning out what part of NASA's news they'd like to make the presentation about, the second lesson being the actual presentation planning, and the third lesson would be presenting their presentations in the front of the class. The group with the best presentation, solely based on the amount of information is correct, will gain stickers for all students in that group.
Class plan 2:
This lesson plan will include an interactive quiz in which students will listen to the teacher talk about something space related, then he will ask the students to tell him a fact about what he just taught them, if they get it right, they get to choose the next student who will give a fact. Whoever in the class gives the most facts will receive a sticker, or a healthy snack depending on if I run into the sticker limit or not.
Class plan 3:
In this lesson of creative activity, students will learn about an object in our solar system and create a travel brochure or advertisement to attract future space tourists to their exotic destination. This lesson engages students with both facts and imagination. I will be making sure it's a group activity so that everyone pays attention and doesn't go AFK, and afterwards if the students want to, they can present their work at the end of the lesson.
