Describe your activity on the server:
I've been online everyday for the past 4 months, I try to be on everyday for 2-3 hours. If I'm not online it's typically due to school, outside life activities, but I'm easily contactable and have a pretty fast response time if needed for anything. I have 7 weeks of playtime at the time of writing this application!
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
I do acknowledge that if I'm inactive I will be demoted, I understand and believe it's best to give others a chance at the position if I'm not active in the role.
School Employee Role you are applying for?:
Tutor!
In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:
Tutors are faculty who guide students who may be struggling with a certain subject, tutors have a wide variety of subjects they work with. If a student is struggling with any work, that being classwork or homework or any school related subject problem, tutors are there to assist the student to their best ability. The last thing tutors should do is stress out the student anymore than they already are. This means that tutors shouldn't be rushing students, and especially not yelling at students to get them to learn something. Tutors should also make sure students understand the concept of the desired subject, if the student doesn't comprehend the concept then a tutor should assist that student in developing a stronger understanding in it than before tutoring.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
In terms of experience in roleplay, I've played Grade-12, Grade-10, and Grade-7 characters. Recently, one of my characters gotten into the sports faction under baseball. This is my first time working with factions and I would like to continue adding to the experience! I enjoy DetailRP, and I've gotten to meet a ton of new characters and would like to get into it more. Outside of SRP, my roleplay experience consists of joining content roleplay videos, in these, I would play characters who often deal with conflict and figure out a solution to them in an engaging way that makes it fun for both players playing the characters.
Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
My motivation for joining the School Employee faction is to play different roles other than what I normally play! I chose specifically tutor, because I felt this was a spot where I could help the faction benefit and it would give me an opportunity to play a character on the other side of the school environment. I haven't played an adult character before, so this will be an entirely new experience which I will be glad to be apart of. As a tutor, I believe I could add to the roleplay experience through helping players in a creative way. My ideal tutoring session wouldn't be my character just telling a student how to do a problem, it would be to show them. What I mean by this is, I could host an activity for the student or students that I would be tutoring, let's say the subject is biology. If the student's problem was learning the biology of a bird, and they didn't seem to grasp the concept, My character would take them out on a trip to look around at birds to better understand! In SRP, I feel that I don't see much tutors online, and I would like to change that in a way that's fun for the other players and myself, hopefully making it a memorable experience for the two of us!

Situations
During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
Laluliya would calmly approach the student and ask in a polite voice "Oh I'm sorry, how could I do better?" She wouldn't want to escalate the situation, she wanted to understand the situation before doing anything. Once she received a response, depending on how the student responded, she would react accordingly. If the student were to continue cursing out her with no explanation, Laluliya would say "I really want to help, how could I improve myself?", if the student still continues to curse her out afterwards, she would walk away. In an extreme case, the student continues harassing Laluliya then, the student in question would be given a warning and if it further escalates then she would hand a detention-slip. In another situation, if the student explained the what was going on, let's say the student said "I don't like you, you never help me with anything!" Laluliya would try to understand where the frustration is coming from, and work with the student through an activity. If the student needed help on projectile motion, she would take the student to baseball and work together with them to better help them understand.
You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
She notices two students who seem really upset at each other, it turns out they were fighting. Laluliya would speak in a strict tone, "What are you two doing?" Before anything, she had to make sure that her eyes weren't deceiving her. She knew that if she said the wrong thing, it could escalate the situation and lead to more problems. She would separate the two students, making sure that they don't continue harming each other in the process. Once the two were separated, she would talk to each one of them to fully get a grasp of the situation and hand a detention-slip if there was anything physical going on. In the situation where the students lie about fighting, she would separate the two first and inspect their knuckles to see if any punches were thrown, and if there was any she would hand both of the students detention slips.
Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Laluliya turned around, however in the corner of her eye, she caught a dangerous situation regarding another faculty member. She quickly rushes over and notices many students surrounding the area. Laluliya would say "Hey everyone, please leave the area!". Once all students have left the area, with a sense of urgency she would quickly stop the faculty member from continuing their project. "This seems dangerous, could you hold this off?" Laluliya would point out the danger in this situation and explain to the employee that the project should be terminated and is unsafe to work with. If the employee ignores her concerns and decides to continue with the project, then she would report the incident to higher ups and in the meantime keep students away from the project.
When in the employee break room, how does your character act?
Since her teenage years, Laluliya has always been a bit of an introvert, in the break room, she would want to talk to her colleagues and would attempt to timidly. Laluliya struggles to approach people and didn't make much friends when she was younger, however once spoken to she can open up easier to her colleagues while still maintain a professional environment. Once she gets to know her colleagues you could hear her say "Hey! [insert name here], how are you doing today?" She would start small talk within the break room, and if anyone needed help with something, she would offer her hand out! Laluliya loved mysteries and when she isn't doing any work, she would be reading a novel, or playing a fun mystery game. If any faculty is free, she would invite them to join, however she is very observant and wouldn't want to invade on any personal space with her colleagues.
Provide us with at least three detailed /me's of your character whilst on your chosen role:
/me glanced to her left noticing the student feeling frustrated, her eyes flicking between the student's biology assignment and his face. Laluliya listened to the clock tick, feeling the tension between the assignment and the student. In a soft spoken voice, Laluliya proposed an offer, "How about we go outside and take a breather? You'll feel much better." As she waited for a response, she fidgeted with paper while thinking of an alternative offer for backup, however she knew that the light breeze would relieve the stress within them. Laluliya also thought that if she took the student outside, there was a possibility they could see a bird and they could watch and ****yze it from a far!
/me approached the student in the corner of the room, "How are we doing here?" Laluliya spoke politely, she noticed the student holding a book and kneeled down next to the student. Now at the same height level as the student, her eyes focused on what the student was working on. She had a slight feeling that her help was needed here and pulled out a pen ready to assist the student. "Okay... Let's see where we are." Laluliya noticed what subject the student was working on and felt a light bulb glow in her head. Laluliya stood up and brushed off any dust on her knees "I have an idea on what we can do!", she had an activity ready that would help the student understand the concept!
/me opened the door, her eyes quickly examined the room. Every move she made seemed frantic, inside her pocket was her phone. Laluliya reached swiftly moved her arm to her back pocket searching for her phone. Nothing, it wasn't in that pocket, she checked her front pockets and felt the cold metallic feel of her phone. She grabbed her phone out of her pocket and with urgency, she checked the time on her phone. "Okay, I have time, but don't have too much time at the same time." Laluliya's face seemed like it had just de-aged 20 years. Every muscle in her face lost the stressful tension it was holding. She found a spot in the break room, and walked over. She pulled out a book, and began preparing for her upcoming tutoring session.

Backstory
"Within Seoul, South Korea, a little girl was born. That was me, Laluliya Maeng. I didn’t have much when I grew up, I had a few siblings, and felt pretty lonely growing up. Have you ever felt as if you wanted to break free, but no matter what you just couldn’t? That’s how I felt back then, I couldn’t approach anyone, it was as if I was held back in chains, and because of this I felt that I didn’t learn to my fullest potential in school. If I needed help on any assignment, I felt I couldn’t ask anyone, it was embarrassing to ask for help. The only times where I would get help is if I was approached first by a teacher. I remember, I would come home listening to my siblings stories about their day and although they were quite interesting, I wish I had stories to share with them. Our family was close with each other, we knew our cousins, and would always recover from any conflicts with each other pretty quickly.
When I was 19, I felt that I was behind everyone else, I felt that if I just knew how to ask for help, I would have been better off in life than I was now. I could never approach anyone, however that all changed once I met the man of my dreams. He worked tirelessly as a tutor, and seeing him help people so effortlessly, inspired me. I don’t know why I had a sudden spark of courage, but just seeing him being able to help students made me feel as if I could do the same. I was in college for my bachelor’s at the time, when I first began my tutoring journey. I loved it, before I felt so vulnerable however, once I started helping younger students understand concepts that I used to struggle with. It felt right, I just knew that I could do this for the rest of my life.
At the age of 24, I moved in with my boyfriend. During this time, I graduated with a bachelor’s in education, life was perfect and I couldn’t be happier. We would both tell each other stories of our experience in helping students. It was a contrast to when I was younger, I had no stories to tell back then. A couple years later, I turned 39 and the two of us eventually got married. We wanted to start a family and had children, however recently, I flew over to Karakura with my family. Many of my nieces and nephews were already here and it was nice to finally reunite with them, but my husband couldn’t come with me. I remember that day, a few months ago. “You should go to see your family first, I can’t leave just yet, I’ll be over in a few weeks.” It was heartbreaking hearing this at the airport, I didn’t have a choice to stay with him since I already told the rest of my family we would be there. He couldn’t leave Seoul, and last minute, something came up and it was either everyone besides him, or none of us goes to Karakura. We decided to leave, I only left, because I believed he would be here soon.
The plane took off, all I could think about was him, and how I just left him. It didn’t feel right. Did I make the wrong choice? What if I won’t see him? Questions like these infected me. I couldn’t sleep at night for a couple weeks. After a month, he still wasn’t here and I regret my decisions. My family was already in Karakura and I wasn’t doing too well. The first 2 months were rough without him. We lived together for so long, and he was gone just like that. I knew I couldn’t continue just living like this, I had to do something. I had to better improve my mental health, and began getting back into tutoring. I did miss it, and the first time I tutored coming back, it was a very long day, it was difficult to focus.
After a week or two of tutoring, I fell back in the spirit. Now although I do miss working with him, and hope I will see him soon, I have to continue with my life. I do get these thoughts about him, even now, but I can’t let them hold me back any longer. I continue doing what I love best, and that’s helping people no matter how I feel, because that's what brings a smile to my face."
Motivation for Joining KHS (Character perspective):
"When I was younger, I felt lost. Lost in a way that made me feel behind the other students with no way to catch up. I needed help with my assignments, but didn't know how to ask. I feel that most students who often don't understand the subject would stay quiet. They wanted to learn, but just didn't know how to ask for help! I can't let those students feel how I did. I know those students are out there, and I have to help them. Today, I may not know everything, however if I could just continue to help students, even if it's just a single baby step towards the right direction. That is progress, and that little baby step will manifest into a brighter light, guiding the student to right path."
Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
"I've seen this situation happen before, from my experience, tutoring other students, and entering any classroom in general. I resonate with students who struggle, but feel as if they can't ask for help. Anyone could teach students by just speaking, but what separates me from everyone else is getting that knowledge to stick. Not every student is the same, each student with their own pacing and knowing that is the difference between night and day when teaching. My activities would accommodate this to further guide the student to success. These aren't just normal activities, those students will walk out the school doors knowing more than yesterday, and tomorrow. Those students would want to continue striving to learn, no matter what, they would grow more than they were the day before and when they think back 10 years in the future about their high school journey, they will smile."
