Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers are a key part of a high school environment, adding structure and purpose to the roleplay. By taking on the roles of different subject teachers, they help make the experience authentic, allowing players to feel like they’re genuinely part of a school community. That way they're not wandering around aimlessly during school hours doing nothing. Teachers can set up class activities, assignments, and events that engage students in various ways. They have the freedom to create small storylines and challenges that give players goals and opportunities for character development. Teachers can serve as role models, helping newer players learn about server rules and the flow of roleplay. By leading classes and activities, teachers teach players the server’s etiquette and help them improve their own roleplaying skills, creating a more cohesive community!! Teachers encourage collaboration and interaction between players. By assigning group projects, for example, they help players connect and build friendships within the server, which is essential for a strong, active community and encourages players to continue to come back to play on the server!

Describe your character:
Description:
'standing at a height of 5'5", weighing nearly 132 lbs. The brown red-streaked-haired woman would have captivating green eyes. She smells of sage and incense, and constantly reapplies clear lipgloss. She speaks to you, her voice leaves a harmonious blend of depth and feminity.'

Mae is a very kind soul, although she doesn't take a whole lot of attitude when it comes down to it. She doesn't like when her buttons are pressed to her but she can take a little beating. She's cool under pressure but would much rather be alone in her room reading books or spending a day with her close friends doing something intimate with them rather than being at a party. Mae thinks creativity, she harnesses her creativity through her art, she enjoys sketching and painting with acrylic paint the most but she really adapts to whatever canvas and materials she has at hand!

Mae wants to have a family in the future, her goal is to find a loving husband, get married, and then have a large loving family. She would love nothing more, unfortunately, she can't have kids due to severe endometriosis so she hopes she can find a man who's willing to adopt children and will accept her as she is.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
My character has a very optimistic and encouraging outlook on students and colleagues alike. They firmly believe that students are the future, each one holding a unique potential waiting to be unlocked. In their eyes, every student has a bright future ahead, as long as they are willing to put in the effort and believe in themselves. They approach students with patience, understanding, and a desire to help them grow, seeing each challenge as an opportunity for students to learn and thrive.

When it comes to their co-workers, my character values collaboration and mutual respect. They believe that everyone on the staff plays a crucial role in shaping young minds and building a supportive school environment. They enjoy working together with colleagues to create engaging lessons, plan school events, and build a community where students feel inspired and encouraged. Overall, they are a hopeful and dedicated teacher, committed to making a positive impact on both their students and their peers.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
My character's motivation for teaching is deeply personal. She has always had a love for children and dreamed of building a family, but her struggle with severe endometriosis has made that journey challenging. Teaching offers her a way to fulfill this desire by nurturing and supporting young minds. She sees the classroom as a place where she can help students grow, giving them the guidance and encouragement they need to become the best versions of themselves. For her, teaching isn't just a job—it’s a chance to create a positive impact in the lives of each student, almost like building her own extended family. Her goal is to instill confidence, kindness, and resilience in her students, hoping they’ll go on to make a difference in their own communities and lives. This dedication to helping others thrive is what truly drives her as a teacher.

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
If a student in the class is struggling to understand the content, Mae will approach the situation with patience and empathy. She would notice their frustration and gently offer additional support, perhaps saying something like, "I can see this feels tricky right now, but I know you've got the ability to understand it. Let's try breaking it down together, step by step." She would take extra time after class or even arrange a one-on-one session, using different teaching methods or real-life examples to make the material more relatable and easier to grasp.

Recognizing the importance of building confidence, she would celebrate each small achievement, encouraging the student to see their own progress. She wants her students to know that learning is a journey, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Her goal is not only to help them master the content but also to help them feel capable, valued, and supported.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Honestly, Mae would approach the situation calmly and with understanding. Rather than immediately reprimanding the student, she would first try to understand what might be causing the behavior. She’d use gentle but firm reminders to re-establish expectations, perhaps saying something like, "I know you're excited, but we need to respect each other’s learning time. Let’s focus now, and I’d love to hear more from you after class."

If the behavior continues, she might take the student aside privately, showing genuine concern by asking, "Is something going on that’s making it hard for you to focus today?" This approach would give the student an opportunity to open up, if there’s an underlying issue, or to reflect on their behavior without feeling publicly embarrassed. By treating the student with respect and patience, she hopes to encourage positive behavior while still maintaining a supportive classroom environment.

Ultimately, her goal would be to help the student feel included in the learning process and understand how their actions impact the whole “classroom family,” guiding them towards a greater sense of responsibility.

Now, if the student continued to be disruptive and causing a ruckus then further disciplinary actions would be met and then she would meet those actions, again, Mae can take a beating for a while but then after a while, she really doesn't enjoy it and will handle it accordingly.

(I taught 8th grade Science for a year as a student teacher, a Kindergarten class, and a Kindergarten Art class another year so I'll kind of lay out how I did my lesson plans just a more minimalized version!)

Lesson 1 (Story of Me: Personal Timeline Art Project)

Objective: To help students reflect on important moments in their lives and express them artistically through a visual timeline.

Activity: Each student creates an illustrated timeline that represents significant events, memories, or experiences in their life so far. They can include symbols, drawings, or even small written descriptions for each milestone. The timeline could be linear or abstract, with each student choosing the style that resonates with them.

Examples of what they might include:

A symbol of an important family tradition
Colors that represent different “phases” of their life (e.g., “blue for childhood”)
An image representing a personal challenge they overcame, like a mountain or a bridge
Materials: Students can use a variety of art supplies like colored pencils, markers, watercolors, and collage materials to personalize their timelines.

Reflection Component: After completing their timelines, students write a short reflection explaining why they chose specific colors, symbols, or designs and how these represent their journey. They can submit this privately, or those who feel comfortable, could share parts of their work with the class.

My Role: I would support students throughout the project by encouraging them to think deeply about their personal growth and challenges, reinforcing the idea that each of them has a unique story worth celebrating. I would reassure them that there’s no “wrong” way to represent their lives and gently guide any students who might be hesitant to share, creating a safe space for self-expression.

Lesson 2 (Postcard to Myself: Future Aspirations)

Objective: To encourage students to visualize their future goals and express them creatively, using art to connect with their aspirations.

Activity: Each student designs a postcard that represents a goal, dream, or vision of where they see themselves in the future. The front of the postcard is an image they create to symbolize their aspiration—a drawing of a place they want to visit, a profession they want to pursue, or a positive quality they hope to develop. The back of the postcard includes a short message to their future self, written in the form of a supportive note or reminder of why their goal matters.

Reflection Component: After finishing, students can choose to read their message aloud or simply keep it as a personal reminder.

My Role: I would walk around, encouraging students to dream big and trust their abilities. My supportive presence would help students feel comfortable exploring their hopes, while my gentle prompts would inspire those who might struggle with visualizing their future. I could offer affirmations like, “Remember, there’s no goal too big or too small—this postcard is just for you.”
