TRIVIA QUESTIONS

What is the student council and what do they do?:

The student council is a club of leaders who are students. They have an important role to seek ways on how to bring their school community upwards while using teamwork. They can also help with school activities. Student councillors have a busy and important job they must do, along with being kind and thoughtful of their fellow classmates.

What motivated you to apply for council? (e.g. Interests, friends, etc.):
Me and my friend have wanted to become councillors together for a while now, and we've finally decided to make an application for it. After playing about a year or more with my friend, we've decided perhaps we could become councillors to improve the school community together.

Are you aware that you’ll be having to use your creativity and teamwork ethic within the student council? (e.g. Coming up and helping with events):
Yes, I am aware of this.

Can you list the roles in the council along with other roles that might be important to the council?:

President/Vice-President:

These students organise and watch how the council is run. They also help make bigger, more important decisions for the council, itself. They work together and have smart brains to help improve the school's community, like the councillors.

Council Training Committee:
These students are in charge of guiding new student councillors and making them do their best. This is an important role in the school community.

General Council Members:
These students work with the presidents. They are normally seen everywhere on school grounds, aiding those in need and scoping for anyone out of line.

Student Leadership Team:
These people are in charge of the whole school. Everyone in this group is important and very responsible for the school's community improvement.

Teachers, Professors, and School Faculty:
These people help with the student council and SLT. They help hosting events, along with keeping the school safe and healthy.

SCENARIOS

You’re patrolling the school and you walk by two girls verbally harassing each other, but they didn't pay mind to you. What do you think is the correct way to go about this?:

Vanessa would first approach the girls, allowing herself to be visible. After hearing some of the statements the girls had made, Vanessa would then ask how the argument started. Then, Vanessa would tell the girls that arguing is not a proper way to discuss these issues. Next, Vanessa would politely ask the girls to resolve the problem as she watched their actions. If the girls disobeyed and continued arguing, then Vanessa would warn them. If multiple warnings were needed, Vanessa would threaten detention or SLT.

A student refuses to take their mask off after you’ve brought up detention and they’ve run away! What do you do?:
Vanessa would get her phone or watch the person closely, attempting to understand what they look like. After doing this, she would ask school faculty and council members to look out for the masked student.

There seems to be a councillor abusing their powers! They’re being exceptionally mean to a student, causing the student to be defensive or scared. How would you step in?:
Vanessa would approach, politely asking the councillor to stop yelling and being abusive. If the councillor did not stop, Vanessa would confront them and call school faculty for abuse of powers.

You seemed to miss a few pieces of information during a meeting, how would you go about getting that information?:
Vanessa would simply ask a fellow student councillor what she might've missed or any main ideas or details she needed to know.

A teacher/receptionist has told you that you are doing something that goes against what you were trained by your higher-ups. How would you react to this?:
Vanessa would kindly ask what she did wrong. After understanding what she had done, Vanessa would formally apologise and try her best not to disturb the rules like this again. If Vanessa did not understand why she was in trouble, she would also simply apologise.

Please provide a detailed event that a club or council can use as a future event to showcase your creativity! (Must be 300 words or more):

Summer Carnival/Party

Summer Sizzle/Sunset Horizon
- This carnival/party would take place at the beach or the pier. It would have face painting, pools, photo booths. The time would be sunrise, afternoon, or sunset. Food stands would be placed around the area with fried chicken, ice cream, and hot dogs. Balloons would be in the air. There would be activities and people would have social interaction with each other, which is proven to be healthy. People would swim and have fun on the pier rides. Everyone would get a chance to meet some of the school councillors, perhaps. After some hanging out and chatting at the beach/pier, everyone would gather for a talent show/play. Those who would wish to partake would only need to ask councillors. Then, everyone would show off some acting or talents. After the show, everyone would sit down and play a few games, such as truth or dare or kiss, marry, kill. Those types of games. After the games, people would discuss how and where they grew up, sharing culture and making others feel welcomed. After this, everyone would gather together for a quick game of hide and seek! In this specific hide-and-seek game, you get to vote for a team captain. Three/four team captains will be selected and choose their team. After choosing their team members and team names, a councillor will first be a seeker. Anyone can hide around the beach area. After the hide-and-seek game, everyone will vote if they want to play a second game of hide and seek. The maximum hide-and-seek game amount is four games. The next few games, a seeker will be voted for and the new team captains will be decided. New team names will be chosen, along with team members. After the game(s), everyone will huddle together to finally say goodbye. If anyone wanted to leave earlier, they may do so without needing to ask or notify.

What separates you from other applicants seeking your position?:
"I believe I have good social interaction and polite communication and the ability to share my more important thoughts, if I received this role in the school. It would not be very hard to adjust to fellow councillors, considering I am friendly and poised. I have dealt with many challenges in life, and I don't think becoming school councillor will be a problem for me."

Why do you want this position?:
"I believe I can share my great ideas and have a chance to socialise with the council. I feel I would be able to much improve the school community by taking this position."

What interests you the most about student council?:
"In my opinion, the best part of being student councillor is stopping any wrongdoing. I believe that most people within school grounds start trouble, or so I've seen. Becoming councillor gives me the authority to stop this wrongdoing and improve the school's great community."

What could you contribute to make the school a safe and fun environment?:
"I'm a good listener and I will listen to what almost anyone has to say. I feel as if most students are lonely and nobody seems to listen to them. I want to improve this by listening to others and appreciate their opinions and ideas. I could think of ideas for the school, aswell, which I think will be enjoyable."
