Fishing |FULL GUIDE AND INFO|

Full Fishing Guide
Fishing at first seems to be the second easiest way to make money, with the half an hourly pay coming in at a first. But have you ever wondered if it's worth the 1,000¥ you spend on the fishing rod? The answer I give to you is yes, it is kind of worth it and kind of not. Let me show you what I mean.
If you fish right now with a basic rod and no rain you have a good chance you will not catch anything of great value. My advice is to catch fish when it is raining and with an enchanted fishing rod if you can get your hands on an enchantment table. You can catch better and more frequent fish when it is raining so make sure to use /warp fishing when you see or hear the rain. Lastly, sell your Legendary fish at the auction for around 500¥, do that with Puffer Fish too because people like to buy rare things like that.
Edit: Mending rods can't be obtained anymore unless it is given to you by someone or you find one at auction.

What I think
I believe the fishing rod price should lower by at least 100¥. Either that or raise the price of some of the fish, for example the commons, they usually only sell for 1¥ (Anything under 10 cm sell for 0). The Admins of School RP should really consider this because people would actually get their money's worth. (Again, mending rod is a different story.)

Evidence why fishing IS NOT worth it
The first thing I have to do is see how much the fishing pole is worth. On this server it's 1,000 yen. That's not much for a fishing pole to be honest. An average meal in Japan cost around 1,000-3,000 yen. So, so far not bad, now we have to factor in how much money we will be making. The Fishing Rod durability when bought is at a full 64. So we have 64 casts to make. Now we have to factor in the rarity of the fish we are going to catch and all of the probabilities so we can make the best estimate of how much we are going to make. To find that I had to do find out what the server's code was running and it was NOT fun trust me.

Now we're getting somewhere! Based on this I can now make a good estimate of how much we are going to make, and if the fishing rod is good or not. To do that we have to look at the prices at which they sell for.
Commons sell for 1¥ each except for Shrimp they sell for 0¥. So you are most likely going to eat them instead of selling them, but i'll add them in anyways because we NEED the money. Rares sell for around 35¥, epics sell for around 75¥, and legendaries sell for only around 115¥. By the POWER of math and science I present to you the answer..
Disclaimer: All of this information is ROUNDED, all fish are based on size not their rarity.
Save your money, and don't waste it on fishing rods!
I will be liking the first few comments btw. By commenting it helps out a lot!
One last thing, if I did anything wrong please tell me so I can fix it right away!
Thanks for reading!

It's amazing that you spent this much time doing math about fish. I'm glad to sea that so much effort was put into something so small.

I mean, I made 55k-80k a day by just fishing alone for like 3 1/2 weeks. All that money is gone though. lol

Some of us got lucky and either caught a Mending fishing rod or received one from a friend, so in that case, you don't need to waste your money on rods.

Price depends on fish length, not rarity. For example, anything under 10 cm will net you 0 yen. Though, rarity might be a factor; I'm not completely sure, it makes sense, but I can't say for certain either way.

I want to contribute to this, so I'll spend some time later / tomorrow selling fish, and making a spreadsheet / graph which compares length to overall price, because Fishing > RP

sike my thing has been done already in a smarter way

By the way, yes, fishing isn't a good way to make money, if I have to buy a fishing rod, I'd only use that on the others lol

But the question is now, is it REALLY possible to get a mending book or a mending rod? Or does someone from creative mode have to give it to you? Because I haven't caught anything but fish from fishing. If anyone knows I would love to invert it into my guide.

The only method of obtaining a mending rod was to catch it before the fishing update, so unfortunately, it's impossible currently. And before you get your hopes up, even if you had lapis/paintbrushes, mending is a treasure enchantment, meaning that you cant use a table for it.

I'm sure a good amount of mending rods still exist, you'd just have to find people who have them.

Okay thanks, hopefully I can find one selling at auction.
