What experiences do you have with roleplay?:

I’ve been playing on the server since August. I’ve made a bunch of friends and was previously and more recently accepted as a teacher on my alt account, as well as security guard at Pinkumo. Of course I cannot forget my amazing previous experience as a psychiatrist at EMS starting last October which I sadly had to vacate for a certain time, if I'm honest I still miss EMS every day. My college character, Gavin Desmond, Anders' nephew, will also be undertaking an EMS-internship as to keep up to date with the faction.

My main roleplay experience however stems from a good 14 years of tabletop roleplay in several systems. From the well-known “Dungeons and Dragons” system to the lesser known “Call of C’Thulhu” and “Vaesen” systems. These are respectively high fantasy, dystopian horror and historical horror settings in which I have intensely player together with groups of 3-6 other players. On top of this I’ve also been a Dungeon Master in my own campaigns for some years now, a part of the hobby I’ve started exploring during Corona-times.

Furthermore I am also an avid LARP-er (live action roleplay) and have been for 7 years. Playing both as a player character and NPC-roles in different settings. Mostly within fantasy settings but also post apocalyptic (think the world in the year 2150) or alternative history (Europe in alternative 1920s) settings. At the moment of writing this, early February ’26, I’m also finishing up preparations to run/organise a LARP event the upcoming weekend (exciting and stressful!).

Suffice to say I've got quite a lot of experience with roleplay and delving deep on the inter-character aspect is what attracts me the most, as well as evolution of a character and its environment.

What is your motivation for applying?

I always like to be active and be doing stuff without getting into trouble. The EMS-faction could use some extra support during the CET-hours of the day, I believe I would be able to fill a needed gap there. I've met quite a few people during my time on SRP and I believe my character could have a meaningful impact on others' mental (and to some extent physical) health. According to a couple of less-than-holy friends I've made quite a few of the liver-stabs and so on are made during the quiet hours, so it would be fun to be able to support there. As a psychiatrist I felt often frustrated I couldn't intervene in a great many physical wounds, effectively rendering people unable to play unless they could skipRP.

I feel working for the Hospital faction will give me the ability to provide genuine care to the people of Karakura round the clock and throughout the week, something I am genuinely looking forward to contributing to yet again!

Which role are you applying for?

I am applying for the role of doctor this time around!

What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?

I will mostly disregard the levels of seniority/management in my answer, but the hospital is generally run by the hospital director, helped by the chief paramedic and two clinical leads for the psychiatrists and doctors, as well as other higher placed doctors.

Furthermore we have three categories of people’s roles which I have summarized briefly.

Paramedics
The paramedics are the ones who are mostly the first responders to events happening outside of the hospital. They are there for first aid and general help of any department in town needing assistance. As they are recruited from the pool of doctors and psychiatrists, they can perform any physical or mental procedure. They are the only ones who are allowed to venture outside the hospital, as well as higher ups in the EMS-faction.

When you see a hip ambulance driving about, there's a paramedic inside!

Doctors
Doctors provide the bread and butter procedures, doing check ups or more intricate physical procedures. They get "down and dirty" when need be. They provide scans, do various operations on organs, do transplants, do medical check-ups and make sure they determine appropriate course of treatment for illnesses or injuries.

In rare cases doctors (or paramedics for that matter) may even take up veterinary tasks.

Psychiatrists
Less physically focused are the psychiatrists, they offer care of the mental side of the patients and offer therapy, being less hands- on than either the doctors or paramedics. While they can perform concussion checks or do sutures, their physical interventions are limited. No liver stabs or bone fractures for them.

The strength of the psychiatrist lies in the fact that they give several forms of therapy or screening. They perform regular screenings on KPD as to check in whether or not they are capable of performing their duties. Further more they can do diagnostics with patients to find out if there is anything amiss and what the correct way to counter this would be (it is often a combination of therapy and medication). This brings us to their bread and butter, therapy!

Therapy has many forms, there's couples therapy, a talk group, family therapy, individual therapy each with their own challenges. Psychiatrists are supposed to log the therapy sessions as to make a medical history of the patients.

Generally speaking there are of course tasks that are more general, such as receiving people and refilling subscriptions which anyone can do. Every category of person from the list above has to do their part in making sure the hospital runs as a unit. The hospital also has to be kept clean which is also a task any of the EMS staff could take up. A clean hospital is a safe hospital!

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?

Absolutely.

SECTION 1: PERSONAL DETAILS

FamilyTherapy.png

Dr. A. Lindahl after a family therapy session.
(luckily not all members present were also present during family therapy)

*Anders quietly sat down on the chair as an aura of relaxation came over him, he smiled as his eyes scanned the room in its entirety, he took a deep breath and spoke with a soft voice*
It is, nice, to be back here again. To smell the familiar hospital-scent of the Karakura hospital. That mixture of sea-air and cleanliness. Yes, it is good to be here, thank you for this interview esteemed director and higher ups.
*Anders scanned the, mostly familiar, faces in the interviewing council, where eyes met he gave a nod or a slight smile while waiting for the questions to come*

Character’s Full Name:

My name is Dr. Anders Lindahl, despite the changes I've been through, my name was luckily not one of them.

Character’s Gender and Pronouns:

I refer to myself as being male.

Character’s Age (if accepted):

I've only mentally aged a bit since we last spoke, so I'm still 38.

Character’s Academic Background:

I am an MD in general health and also obtained a speciality in psychiatrics, as well as a PhD in philosophy. I'm currently re-orienting to general practicioner and surgeon, and pursueing a post-graduate physical therapy. I've also polished up my knowledge of emergency-triage, something which might be particularly useful. For no reason whatsoever *coughs* I looked into stabbed livers as well.

Character’s Nationality:

I'm Norwegian by birth.

Character’s Marital Status:

You might remember that I'm married to my job rather than any single particular human *smiles*

Character’s Religious Denomination:

My agnosticism stands firm. So I believe nor disbelieve the existence of any deity. I only accept the possibility that there might be something. Now of course I welcome anyone into the care of Karakura's hospital.

Character’s Spoken Languages:

I speak English, Norwegian, Japanese and since the wedding of my brother with Hansel, just a couple of words of German. Although I couldn't even order a loaf of bread in the store in German.

Character Backstory:

Anders hails from a suburban area around Bergen, Norway. He studied and worked at the world renowned medical Karolinska Institutet before moving to Karakura for a research exchange program. His focus has always been on helping people cope with trauma, grief, and cultural adjustment, the recent research had to do with the latter. As the research is coming to a close he is looking for a way to support both locals and foreign residents. Calm, reserved, and deeply observant, he’s known for listening more than speaking and for occasionally wandering the town’s shrines in quiet reflection. Having already worked at Karakura Hospital however, he has started calling the hospital the Temple of Science. The hidden places in the hospital such as the garden and swimming pool or even the rooftop can bring him a deep mental peace.

He has a brother, previously known as Valdemar Lindahl, who has married and taken the name of his husband. He is now called Valdemar Desmond and he teaches English at Karakura High.

As noted earlier he has also obtained a PhD in philosophy, which he finds very useful in his line of work. Reflection and getting people to reflect on their actions are a very important part of the psychiatrists' work. Anders’ brother is not quite convinced of the usefulness of his philosophical knowledge, although this might mainly be because he has nagged rather a lot while they were both recovering in hospital together.

More recently he's taken to freshening up his knowledge and insight in other medical fields as mentioned before.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY

What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?

I started off my medical career as a psychiatrist, which meant that I trained as a general doctor and later transitioned into psychiatry. There were quite some reasons for that, but my rather philosophical nature - I also have a PhD in philosophy - let me gravitate toward illness of the mind, so to speak. I've spent the past years practicing psychiatry.

Due to my accident last year however, my views have rather taken a turn and I've taken a renewed interest in the physical aspect of humanity, due to the impact it can also have on people's mental wellbeing.

I've been stuck in hospital for the past six months or so, this time as a patient. The lack of ability to move due to my many fractures and the physical therapy which helped me get to moving again really opened my eyes. Rest makes rust and it is definitely the case for humans as well. Our complex minds need movement and the ability to move in order to be able to work. If any of the gears in a machine is blocked, the entire machine will eventuallly stop functioning after all.

During my months in hospital and the recovery period after at home, I've delved back into the general doctor's books. I feel I am now quite ready to pick up the profession of general doctor and start off a traineeship as a surgeon. Of course I already had limited insight in how the body works, but it's time to really dig in there, though not literally.

Furthermore I believe physical therapy is a cornerstone of human health which is often overlooked, it can both prevent the need for, and expedite recovery. I know we have brilliant facilities for such matters in the hospital which I would like to see used more often. *slowly nod and smiles, as if saying he was rather content with his own answer*

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?

*grins as he hears this question*

Although the majority of his experience was in medical based research and teaching at the Karolinska he has also helped out in the Karolinska Institut’s mental health facility, training with 14-20 year olds who were struggling with “growing up” and all the issues this entailed. He has thus had most theraputical experience with teenagers whom are a large part of the Karakura population.

Furthermore he’s worked at Karakura Hospital for several (ingame) months. During his first period he was elected psychiatrist of the month, something he was very proud of. Anders is a tryhard and a go-getter, deeply devoted to his task as a psychiatrist, putting in a multitude of hours and days taking care of patients. So he does indeed have a basis of wound care, suturing and so on and so forth.
He would like to delve deeper, both literally and figuratively, into the care of patients.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?

Anders is rather tall with 1.89m and archetypically blonde with blue eyes. He has intricate yet playful and friendly demeanour, despite his classical attire.
His green suit compliments his blonde hair quite well and when people take a few moments to look at him they often feel a sense of calmness. Nearly every movement Anders makes seems to have a clearly defined thought and meaning behind it. He tries to be as open as he can, without being unprofessional.

Clients - and others - are meant to be put at ease as Anders always explains his motives and the way he works. He is also open to questions and verifies boundaries with people in his line of work. Despite his clear openness and professionalism however, he also has a certain quirkiness to him. People who know him better would say this has to do with his solution-orientedness with people's problems and his learnedness. He will use his openness to calm down his patients who are in pain but also to possibly distract them from an incoming needle-prick.

How does your character act around the hospital?

I will forever attempt to be proactive in my handling and thinking. If there is no patient to be helped I would help in keeping the lobby clean. If animals attempt to enter I will also attempt to keep them out, although I do have a habit of attracting them rather than repelling them. Of course if I were to be bored during a q.. qu.. quiaa..*whispers* quiet moment *continues in normal voice* there is of course the ever-growing pile of paperwork.

Rest makes people rust, my vision has not changed in that. The first 3 months of my last internship were rather intense as we weren't allowed to leave the hospital at all, but I've found it to be a great way of conditioning ourselves to reality. EMS never stops, EMS never goes. Always be ready and willing! *fire and conviction seemed to burn in his eyes as he talked*

Whether or not this was just a simple case of Stockholm-syndrome, who could say, really?

Does your character function better on their own or with others?

By being a healthcare worker one accepts that care is in the job description, not only for our patients but also our colleagues, because we can only provide care if we take care of ourselves. If I can take a load off of my heavily overworked colleagues by mopping the floor after a busy night or taking on an extra pile of documents, I'll - usually - happily do so.
One could say I
'm definitely a teamplayer. As they say, there is no 'I' in team. Whether it's a code blue or red, I'll always be there to support the wellbeing of my colleagues first. Whether it is through protecting them from a rabid raccoon or a burnout, or just a relaxing talk with a cup of tea and a meditative session in the rooftop garden.

Furthermore, as you are aware, I'll always listen carefully to the improvements and procedures currently used in hospital and will attempt to better them by suggestions or asking questions. Only through cooperation and reflection we can keep improving ourselves and through this, our services!
