Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:
My Journey on Roleplay Hub started back in 2016, when I developed an interest in roleplaying thanks to so many videos and the popularity with Minecraft Roleplays. Although my first experience was very short, but I eventually made a comeback in 2019, where I was able to actually build a foundation, proper lore, and backstories for my characters, where I began to make connections with other players of the server, eventually becoming a regular. Since then, I've gained about seven years of roleplay experience until today, where I decided to take my roleplay to the next level by actually trying a new faction!
Nowadays, I've also been participating in roleplay series where I do some voice acting, which has helped me immerse myself in the characters and also taking my roleplay capabilities to the next level.
As for my activity, I'm pretty much on SchoolRP Daily during my free time. I usually spend 2-3 hours online, and sometimes even beyond that, it can reach up to 5-6 hours depending on the server events or when there is a roleplay scenario happening with my character involved. These hours are usually split into multiple sessions rather than a continuous playtime! Aside from that, I'm mostly active on my Sports Team character where I attend mandatory practices, team activities regularly every single week + OOC hangouts with other team members, not just my own team!

In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?
I believe that professors on SRP are just as important as high school teachers. We are talking about a school roleplay, and school doesn’t mean just high school; it also expands into college life. Professors give structure to the college side, just like teachers do for high school. Without them, the roleplay experience would feel very limited, especially for adult characters. It makes you wonder, without college, how would adults have graduated with degrees or gained the knowledge and skills needed for their careers? Professors provide learning opportunities for college students, especially guiding them towards adulthood! They are the reason why high school students can continue their studies and progress in their education. At the end of the day, from my point of view, they are vital in the SRP Eco system just like teachers, the difference lies is that the professors are just at the final step for the students to complete their studies and prepare for a roleplay experience outside of school, whether that means taking the Adult Role you or join a working faction themselves!

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the faction?
Yes, I fully acknowledge that repetitive inactivity will result in a demotion or removal from the faction!

Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:
Yes, I understand that if my application gets accepted, professor training will be mandatory.

In-Character Information

What's your character's full name?

Kael Jin-Ryuk

Kael steps into the room quietly before offering a small, soft nod as a greeting.
He reaches for the chair, shifting it slightly just enough for him to sit down, his hands resting loosely on his lap before speaking with a soft and soothing tone as his gaze meets the interviewers.
‘’Greetings, my full name is Kael Jin-Ryuk’’

Age (Minimum is 27):
31

‘’My age, you say?’’ His right finger found itself slightly scratching the side of his cheek, his gaze shifting between the interviewer and the background before settling back at them ‘’I’m currently 31, turning 32 this year’’ his voice, soothing and soft, carried a hint of hesitation as he glanced at his hands, fidgeting and playing with his sleeve

Nationality:
South Korean

Preferred Subject:
Digital Art + Graphics Design

He leans back on his chair slightly, his eyes full of thoughts as if he was trying to find the right words before opening his mouth once again ‘’I've dedicated most of my life to studying Arts, practicing and studying the theory behind it. I earned my Master's in Fine Arts.’’ Took a brief pause, his lips slowly turned into a confident, yet soft smirk as he spoke with enthusiasm , almost seeming like he was talking about something very dear to him ‘’and now, I'd like to teach these students, every bit of knowledge that I've learned throughout the entire years I've spent refining my craft. My main focus has been on digital art, where I explore painting and illustration in a digital way. But I can also bring to the table a solid foundation of Graphic Design and Traditional Art, which has enhanced my understanding of composition, color, and design principles that I can 100% apply in Digital Art. All of this allows me to guide students across different mediums, whether they want to learn the ways of Digital Work, Traditional Practices, or learn Design Fundamentals.
He leans forward slightly, his hand resting on his lap, with his eyes suddenly lighting up with burning determination.
‘’My hope is to inspire them to chase their own passions, not just in art, but in life.
What I want them to truly discover is the creativity they once had when they were younger, and to always strive for the best, so they can move forward without any regrets!’’

Describe the character: How do they look and act? What makes them unique and different? What are their plans for the future? Optionally, what is their past?
Self-Portrait.jpg

Self - Portrait (Done within 20 min! Sorry for the bad unfinished quality!)

Kael Jin-Ryuk is a tall and collected minded man, currently standing at 6’4 with a slender, slightly toned build reflecting his personal dedication to both Art and Personal well being. His posture was always in an upright position, giving off a sense of confidence and calmness.
He had very unusual features; his dark hair fell right above his shoulders, slightly messy with a distinctive white streak coming from his left side. His eyes carried a deep shade of black color, always having that hint of curiosity in them, often found examining the environment around him, being really cautious, and noticing very small details!

Despite his calm appearance, Kael is someone who constantly studies his surroundings, being very cautious and conscious of his surroundings. What makes him unique is his deep understanding of emotions and creativity. Growing up as an orphan led him to express his emotions into piece of paper, marking his connection with art that eventually made him who he is today.
Kael's earlier life was a rollercoaster of emotions; His devotion to refining his craft led to a point where he pushed his body to its limits. To maintain that pursuit of knowledge and practice, he had to balance long hours of studying and practice with care of his mental and health well being. Eventually, understanding that perfection was never something anyone could achieve. He was able to discover his own art style by combining every trait that he loved and studied from his favorite artists.
While Kael is passionate about teaching, he still continues to practice during his free time. One of his other aspirations is to take part in large creative projects, for example, working as a concept artist or illustrator for major studios similar to Riot Games or Blizzard Entertainment!

South Korea, Seoul - Past:

Kael Jin-Ryuk was born in Seoul, South Korea. His early memories were very blurry; he only remembered a quiet life before a sudden tragedy struck, and he lost his parents at a young age. After their passing, he was taken to an orphanage where Kael first discovered art. Drawing became his way of expressing his emotions, which were filled with different depictions of sadness, hope, curiosity, and longing for something he once lost. Life for him was very lonely as he didn’t have many friends; the only thing that kept him sane was the passion and immersion in his art.
At some point, he got adopted by the Jin-Ryuk family, giving Kael a new place to finally call home. Still carrying the weight of his deceased parents, he started opening up to his new family and then developed a sense of belonging for the first time after the accident. They started praising him for his drawings and encouraged him to become an artist in the future. Little did he know that this would eventually lead him to become a perfectionist.

Early Teens

In his early teens, Kael became obsessed with refining his craft. He started studying other artists that he liked, working obsessively, remaking their art pieces, and replicating their art style. He didn’t want to surpass them; he wanted to know what it felt like being them when they were making those masterpieces, in other words, he wanted to escape being Kael as he was immersing himself in other artists' shoes. He tried to understand their critical thinking, their motives, and their emotions until he lost himself.

College Years

Kael eventually went to college, pursuing a degree in Digital Art, focusing on refining his painting, illustration skills, and creative workflow. He even took courses of Graphics Design and Traditional Art just to strengthen the areas he was lacking in, eventually building a solid foundation for him to be able to draw anything he wanted. The skills he picked up in traditional art transitioned into digital artworks; graphics designed helped him see forms and colors much better and gave him a solid understanding of what the people wanted to see, but that wasn’t enough to satisfy him. He still didn’t know why he was searching for something better, something perfect, until one day, during a college project, Kael realized that no matter how many techniques and art styles he learned, his work never truly felt his. This reality check brought him into forming a new art style of his own, mixing in all of the things he loved about the artists he admired so much. He didn’t just improve his work, but he improved his mental well being, finally making peace with himself.

Japan, Karakura - Present Day

Years later, the Jin-Ryuk family relocated to Karakura, Japan due to work opportunities. Kael eventually followed them a few years later.
After spending many years studying and practicing, discovering his own art style, he finally came to a conclusion about what he wanted to do with everything he learned.
Art guided him through almost every stage of life, from loneliness to a loving family and self-discovery. Through everything he went through, he simply decided that he didn’t want to keep his knowledge to himself; instead, he wanted to pass it on to someone with a bigger dream than his.
Now in Karakura, Kael hopes to guide students across different art mediums, while helping them reconnect with their inner creative self in hopes they could also chase their own dream. Having once lost himself while chasing perfection, he now wishes to teach young artists that art is not about becoming and copying someone else, but it’s about discovering who they truly are through their work.
Eventually realizing that the dream he wanted was to create an environment where people are free to experiment, develop, and express their own identity through artistic means without the pursuit of perfection.

Alongside teaching, Kael developed a passion for fantasy art and game design, mostly because the artists he admired worked in this style, and most worked for game studios. He became inspired by the idea of making immersive worlds and character concepts, eventually growing into an interest in the gaming industry.

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?
Firstly, Kael views everyone with respect and professionalism. He sees his students as curious individuals with lots of potential! Kael would be patient and encouraging towards them, he is willing to give them advice or feedback, not just for their studies but also life advice. He might seem reserved, calm, and quiet, but he is definitely a person who would go out of his way to help any student in need.
When it comes to his co-workers, he is, of course, very respectful and professional, and above all, he is collaborative. He enjoys sharing his thoughts and knowledge and learning from other people. He believes that if people bring their strengths and perspectives together, we can all work efficiently. He would appear very calm around them, preferring meaningful conversations rather than conflicts. At the end, Kael believes that a supportive environment benefits everyone, and in order for that environment to exist, there needs to be at least one person willing to cooperate, and for Kael, that starts with himself.

What is their motivation for becoming a professor?:
Kael placed his hands loosely on his lap, his eyes started drifting towards the windows, looking straight at a soft, blue sky, letting his mind and entire body relax on the chair as he spoke ‘’Art has always been my way of expression’’ his voice was soft and calm ‘’I’ve spent countless hours refining, studying, and practicing my craft. Not only that, but I’ve also explored other fields such as graphic design and traditional art. Aside from all of that, I believe anyone who has gone through learning and growth is qualified to teach, but only if they have the passion to do so. I believe I have that passion in me, that fire that has driven me through my entire life, carried me over here because I want to give myself a chance; a chance to teach, guide these students into the right path, whether they like or dislike the subject I’m planning to teach.’’ Took a deep breath as he paused, his eyes started lighting up once again ‘’As I said before, I want every student to reconnect with their creativity, understand themselves better, to pursue their dreams without fear of failure. Art isn’t just a skill, it’s a form of self expression and self discovery, and I want everyone to understand that.

Kael’s Motivation in becoming a professor is based on his backstory and personal journey with art and self discovery. Growing up as an orphan and later taken in by the Jin-Ryuk family, he was able to turn art into a way to express his emotions and understand himself. Over time, he dedicated countless hours to refining his skills, learning digital art, graphics design, and traditional art, and then eventually developing an art style of his own.
He believes that teaching is not just about passing the knowledge he learned throughout the years he spent studying and practicing, but it's about guiding students to reconnect with their creative side, in hopes of finding their own voice and pursuing their dreams without the fear of failure. He wants the students to see art as a form of self expression and personal growth rather than just a creative skill that you can learn.

Roleplay Scenarios

A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?
As Kael was sketching a quick composition diagram, he noticed a crumpled ball of paper resting on the floor. His hand paused mid sketching, slowly turning his gaze towards the class as he scanned the room for the culprit. Without raising his voice, he walked towards them and picked up the crumbled paper. Opening the paper carefully, Kael started thinking for a moment before glancing at the culprit. ‘’You know, with the right folds, this could actually make a decent origami!’’ Hearing the other students snickering, he would turn around with a smirk on his face before placing the piece of paper on his desk ‘’Since you clearly have energy to spare, you can help me with the next exercise!’’ turned towards his class, closing his eyes as a crescent moon formed in his mouth ‘’Come here at the front, you'll demonstrate a gesture pose for the class. Oh, make sure to stay very still!’’ Once the student arrived at the front, he leaned closer and whispered ‘’If you're going to throw things, you might as well help us create something instead.’’ His tone was very calm yet authoritative ‘’But if next time I catch you persistently disturbing the class again, we'll be having this conversation in detention. Are we clear?’’

A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?
Kael walked between desks, checking if everyone was on track. Suddenly, his gaze would linger on one student who seemed to be struggling.
He approached them before crouching beside their desk
‘’You seem stuck, creative block?’’ His head gently tilted to the side, while a warm smile spread across his face. ‘’Why don't you tell me how you are approaching this? Where are you running into trouble?’’ He paused, waiting for an answer. ‘’You can always take your time, there's no rush to get it perfect on your first try! You know I also struggled when I was at your age, but I ended up taking my time... Look, here’’ He guided the student's hand through the canvas, showing them that a little adjustment on that side can make a great difference!
Once he saw the student's eyes lightening up, Kael stood up and said
‘’See, that's much closer to what you were aiming for, isn't it?’’ he then walked towards his desk before turning around for a brief moment ‘’Don't hesitate to ask for my assistance next time, we are here to learn after all! I'll gladly assist anyone who needs it!’’

When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?
Kael would be found sitting down in a quiet corner in the faculty lounge. He would have a relaxed but upright posture, with a cup of coffee in his hands. We can see him looking around the room briefly before turning his gaze outside the windows, admiring the scenery.
When his fellow co-workers approached him, he would show them a polite smile and say things along the lines of ‘’Morning, Care to join me for a small break?’’
During his time at the lounge, Kael would prefer to be alone most of the time, though he didn't mind the company of his colleagues. We would be seeing him having conversations with them about their subjects, sharing their hobbies, teaching methods, or even life advice. While Kael didn't have a huge presence in the room, he did find himself giving advice or support to anyone who needed it.
Still, at the same time, Kael respected boundaries and never pried into their personal lives or interrupted private conversations. For him, the lounge was a place where he could recharge, reflect, and relax during break time.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject

Interactive Class 1 - Spot the Inconsistencies or anomalies in the described scenery

For the first activity, Kael would narrate a detailed scene for the students to visualize. The scene can have any theme, such as a household interior, a marketplace, a busy street, a forest, or even a fantasy world. But the description would intentionally contain small inconsistencies or anomalies. These would represent elements that would be impossible in our own reality. Some examples are conflicting times of a day, incorrect object proportions, a clock on a wall showing a specific time while the sun outside is at a different time.
The students are tasked to identify these inconsistencies within the described scenery, and then they have to explain why they stand out and feel incorrect. After sharing their observation, Kael would provide feedback by acknowledging the accuracy of the responses they gave him.
With this exercise, the students would develop strong observational skills and learn to think critically more about visual compositions. This will help the students understand how small details can influence our own work, whether it’s a fantasy or a realism

Interactive Class 2 - Pose and Gesture Drawing Study

Kael would ask a few volunteers to come to the front of the class and hold simple poses. Poses that could represent different emotions, actions, and gestures.
The rest of the class needs to observe and describe their body language, so the students would be encouraged to pay attention to their posture, line of action, arm placement, and what emotions the pose gives from their point of view.
They are then tasked to briefly sketch a pose (describing how they would draw it on a piece of paper). After sharing their observations, Kael would give them feedback and explain how artists use body language, and how simple gestures and small changes can make a pose go from boring to dynamic.
This exercise will help the student understand gesture drawing, body language, and how artists use poses to tell a story or emotion.

Field Trip - Shrine & Forest

For this field trip, Kael would take the students to a natural location, such as the Shrine and the forest. The purpose of this is to help the students observe the nature around us and understand how those natural elements can make a composition. During this, they are encouraged to look at their surroundings, paying attention to the smallest details described by the professor. This could include how light passes through the tree branches, the textures of the stone pathways, the structures of the shrine, and the trees. Kael would guide them by pointing out the leading lines, color variation, and the balance between nature and man made structures. The students would be asked questions about the environment, what sticks out the most, and how they would compose the scene in their artworks. They will also be provided with books, and then, optionally, they can sketch the desired scenery around them. If they do submit the sketch at the end of the field trip, they will receive a sticker. The purpose of this field trip is to develop the students' understanding of natural settings and to use the real world as a reference for creating their own compositions in art.
