what is a gyaru???

Gyaru is a sub-class of the "popular girl" archetype which is characterized through a distinct visual style. A major part of it is a dense assortment of brightly colored clothing, accessories and makeup, and many gyarus choose to bleach their hair or tan their skin; put in simpler terms, this type of girl really likes to stand out. Gyaru characters in media are typically portrayed as delinquents or people with rebellious non-conforming personalities, and often rely on "easy bimbo" type traits. Of course, not every gyaru character fits under this blanket definition, and there are many variations of how gyaru's can look and act.


Anyway, I'll see you guys in another year when this thread gets necroposted on again.
