TRIVIA QUESTIONS
What is the student council and what do they do?:
As stated in the student Council information;
"The Council handles school events and is a pseudo-authority, keeping order among most students and ensuring things run as smoothly as possible during school hours, they are dedicated, hard-working and ensure they get the job done at the end of the day without fail or flaw. The Council will be in charge of running events, speaking and guiding students, enforcing authority and rules within school grounds, providing a safe space for students, and hosting and/or helping with detentions. They are also the voice of the students and will advocate for changes prompted by students. You will work closely alongside clubs and school teachers/professors at times to ensure events hosted run well or even to host your own suggested or council-created events."
From my perspective, the student council is a group of elected students, who represent their peers and work to improve the school environment trough various initiatives and activities, the student council's members take on leadership rolesto organize and lead various school activities and events. The student council organizes social activities such as dances, talent shows, spirit weeks, and assemblies to foster school spirit and community. They initiate and participate in community service projects, and works voluntarily to improve the school's community. They help develop and implement new programs or clubs based on student interests and needs. The student council collaborates with school staff and administration to address student issues and improve the school experience. The council takes on the role to enforce the school's rules and to assist the faculty.
What motivated you to apply for council? (e.g. Interests, friends, etc.):
My motivation to apply for the student council stems from a strong desire to contribute positively to the schoolRP community and my curiosity about the student council. Fostering a sense of community and school spirit sounds interesting to me. I want to help organize events and activities that bring students together,, I feel the need to help faculty enforce the rules of the school. I see the council as an opportunity for personal growth. It will allow me to enhance my teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all of which are essential for my future on the server. I also have a few friends that were/still are in the council and I want to join them.
Are you aware that you’ll be having to use your creativity and teamwork ethic within the student council? (e.g. Coming up and helping with events):
Yes, I'm fully aware.
Can you list the roles in the council along with other roles that might be important to the council?:
[PRESIDENT]
Leads the council, they take on the responsibility for running everything within the student council, oversees council activities, and ensures goals are met. The President represents the council at events,
[VICE-PRESIDENT]
Assists the president, takes on the president's duties in their absence, helps coordinate events and projects, and may oversee specific committees. Is basically the right arm of the President.
[COUNCILLOR]
Councillors are responsible to patrol the school grounds, kind of like hall monitors. The councillor's job is to make sure the students are not breaking any rules, they can give out warnings, detentions or send students to the SLT. The councillor's help come up with ideas for school events, and usually assist faculty.
[School Leadership Team; aka SLT]
The SLT's are the heads of the school, taking care explusions/suspensions, this team sometimes approves, or supervises events.
[FACULTY]
This team is hired by the SLT to educate students,or take care of them. There's a few roles apart of the Faculty, being; Teachers/Professors, Caretakers, Receptionists, Librarians, Counselors, Chefs, Tutors and one of the most important Nurses. Teachers and Professors jobs are to educate the students, while the Chefs cook breakfast and lunch for the students, nurses take care of students' wounds and pains, as

SCENARIOS
While students gather for a school assembly, one student behaves disruptively, causing a disturbance. How would you manage the situation to restore order effectively while minimizing any additional disruptions to the assembly?
I would make eye contact with the disruptive student, signaling that their behavior is noticed. I would then quietly approach them without drawing much attention, In a respectful and calm tone, I would ask the student to step outside with me for a moment... Once outside, I would address the student directly, but kindly! I would ask the student to maintain order during the assembly, so everyone can hear the information being shared. Depending on the student's response, I would try to understand their perspective. If they have a concern or need, I would address it or direct them someone who can help, however if they're simply acting out, I would remind them of the importance of the assembly and warn them to not repeat that mistake. If the student agrees to cooperate, I would escort them back to their seat with a reminder to stay calm and quiet. If they refuse or continue to be disruptive, I would dscreetly call over a faculty member to assist, ensuring the student is supervised without further disrupting the assembly. By handling the situation with respect and calmness, i aim to restore order effectively, while minimizing additional disruptions and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
A student refuses to take their mask off after you’ve brought up detention and they’ve run away! What do you do?
I would stay calm and composed, understanding that chasing the student might escalate the situation or cause more disruption. I would quickly inform a nearby faculty member about the incident, I would provide the faculty with a description of what happened, and the direction in which they ran. I would suggest for a faculty member to check the CCTV to see where the masked student runs, and if they unmask. If we catch them on CCTV, I'll ask one of the faculty members to call the student over to the front desk, threatening them with a detention. If they still don't show up, I'll ask to call for the student again, that time however, threatening with an SLT report. If the student shows up, I'd pass them a detention slip, and go on about my day, patrolling the halls.
A teacher observes concerning behavior from a student, including the creation of disturbing artwork and verbal threats toward peers. How would you collaborate with the teacher to evaluate the situation and intervene appropriately to address potential safety concerns?
I would carefully listen to the teacher's observations and concerns about the student's behavior, including the disturbing artwork and threats. It's crucial I understand the specifics and context of the behavior. I would document all observed behavoirs, including dates, specific incidents, and student reactions. I would bring up the matter with all of my notes to the SLT, I would ask someone to call the student over to the front desk, to have a talk with them. If they wouldn't show up, I'd ask an SLT to call them over to their office for a talk, I would keep respectful and calm towards the student, asking them about their behavior and the threats. After everything's been settled with the student and SLT, I'd go back to the teacher to tell them about what happened.
A group of students asks for your permission to stage a protest on school grounds. Would you allow them to protest? If so, how do you ensure that the protest does not disrupt the school environment while upholding their freedom of expression?
I would talk to the students about it, trying to understand the reasons behind their desire to protest. I would ensure that their cause is respectful and aligns with the values of the school community. I would tell the students to protest in a less crowded space, to not create traffic. I'd work with the students, setting clear guidelines for the protest, including the location and an expectation of their behavior. I would inform the faculty and other staff members about the protest. I would seek their approval to ensure all safety and policy considerations are met. I would ask some faculty members to stay near the protest to ensure the safety of all participants and bystanders. Myself, I would be present at the protest watching over the situation, and addressing any issues that may occur. I'd make sure the protest remains peaceful and within the agreed-upon guidelines.
A teacher/receptionist has told you that you are doing something that goes against what you were trained by your higher-ups. How would you react to this?
I would remain calm and respectful, acknowledging the teacher's concerns without becoming defensive. I'd listen carefully to what they're saying, making sure I understand the issue fully. I would ask politely for details, to help clarify any misunderstandings and ensure I know exactly what the issue is. After the talk, I would try to take some time to reflect on my actions and compare them with my training provided by the higher-ups. I would apologise of my mistake, and go to a higher-up to ask if whatever I did is agaisnt what I was trained for. I'd ask the higher-up to tell me about the rule I broke in detail, so that I can avoid doing the same mistake in the future.
Please provide at least one detailed event that the council can use as a future event to showcase your creativity! (Must be 300 words or more for one event):
I'm thinking about something like a Cultural Fusion Festival!
The objective of this event would be to celebrate the diversity within our school community by showcasing different cultures trough food, music, dance, art, and even traditional activities! This event would aim to promote the understanding, respect, and unity among students from various backgrounds.
The Cultural Fusion Festival is a vibrant, day-long celebration designed to immerse students, faculty, and families in the rich tapestry of cultures represented in our school. The event will feature a variety of interactive booths, performances, and workshops, each highlighting different aspects of world cultures. Here's a more detailed breakdown of the event:
Food stalls:
Each booth will feature traditional dishes from various countries. Students will have the opportunity to taste foods from around the world. Cooking demonstrations could be held to show how certain traditional dishes are prepared.
Arts and Crafts:
You would be able to display traditional arts and crafts, including pottery, paintings and even sculptures! Some booths will offer hands-on workshops where attendees can learn and create their own pieces.
Music and dance:
A stage could be held set up for live performances, including traditional music and dance from various cultures. Perfromances by students and faculty will be scheduled trought the day.
literature and storytelling:
Sessions where stories, folklore, and literary works from different cultures are anrrated. Students and faculty can participate by reading excerpts and sharing tales from their cultural heritage.
Craft Workshops:
Hands-on activities where attendees can learn traditional crafts, such as origami, beadwork, painting, mask making.
Cultural talks:
Invite speakers from various cultural backgrounds to give short speeches on the importance of cultural awareness and diversity. Topics can include cultural history, significant traditions, and the inpact of globalization on local cultures.
The Cultural Fusion Festival is more than just an event; it's an opportunity for the school community to come together, learn from each other, and celebrate our diverse heritages. This festival will not only enhance cultural awareness but also foster a sense of unity and pride in our multicultural identity.
