What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
I have experience with role-play for a number of years, RPH being my main source of experience for role-play. In total I have spent currently 2.5 years roleplaying in SRP, beginning in 2020 and including a break in 2022. Over that course of time my capabilities in roleplaying has greatly increased as well as my familiarity with the server.

I primarily roleplayed as a student, having gained roles including College Bachelors and Swim Team. While it was available, I additionally spent a considerable amount of time in FRP, expanding on my skills in creating detailed and extensive actions in scenarios I would not run into within SRP. Overall, being in RPH, making some upmost wonderful friends and interacting and learning from others, I would consider myself to be well versed with roleplay.

What is your motivation for applying?
The role of EMS is one I have always held interest in, thanks to my interests in the fields of biology and medical studies and being able to roleplay an EMS role, in contrast to a student role, is incredibly intriguing. If given the opportunity I believe being EMS would provide a wide array of new RP experiences.

Being part of an EMS team and being able to work alongside others in that faction is very much appealing to me and is something I am invested in. I have some pre-existing knowledge of medical studies and am eager to learn more. I also am friends with a few existing EMS members, which supported and encouraged me into applying for the said role.

Which role are you applying for?
(Surgeon, Doctor, or Psychiatrist):

Surgeon

What knowledge do you have of Hospital Work?
I have a basic knowledge of Hospital work OOCly and ICly, and from what I have observed and learned, the ICly EMS team is comprised of 3 main roles; Doctors, Surgeons and Psychiatrists.

IC Knowledge:
Doctors attend to general medical concerns and provide and monitor prescriptions, as well as attend to injuries that do not call for surgery and x-rays, CT and MRI scans.

Surgeons attend to general medical concerns and providing and monitoring prescriptions, as well as attend to injuries that do not call for surgery, injuries that do call for surgery, x-rays, CT and MRI scans and morgue duties.

Psychiatrists attend to mental wellbeing concerns, dealing with listening to patients' concerns as well as diagnosing them appropriately and providing and monitoring prescriptions.

OOC Knowledge:
Surgeons are physicians which perform surgery. These types of surgical procedures can include; Removal of a diseased or dysfunctional organ, the removal of shattered and detached cartilage or bone fragments, the repair of a bodily system such as removing blockage from arteries and application of casts to fractured or broken limbs.

However, not all surgeons are qualified for any and all types of surgeries, as there are branches and specifications, such as neurosurgery, which pertains to surgery related to the nervous system, brain and spinal cord.

Surgeons perform when there is a serious ailment in a patient which calls for surgery, and may perform a number of surgical procedures if required. These surgeries are performed for a variety of reasons and outcomes, these all working towards improving the living conditions of a patient.

There are a few types of surgeries, such as elective surgery, which is optional surgery which is able to be scheduled for a due time, non-elective surgery which is not optional and more urgent, not to be delayed. Not elective surgery is similar to emergency surgery, which is often life threatening and should be immediately treated with little to no delay.

Besides surgeons, there are a number of roles within hospitals, each with its own importance. Some hospitals may be designated as learning hospitals, where house staff (residents, interns and medical students) engage in medical training, overseen by an attending physician. An attending physician is someone who takes responsibility for an assigned team and may be a surgeon, doctor or other specialising physician.

Psychiatrists are a branch of doctors who specialise in the diagnosis, study, prevent and treatment of mental disorders in patients through evaluation or clinical assessments, which may include processes such as neuroimaging, which is used to study the functions of the human brain. Psychiatrists are additionally able to prescribe appropriate medications to patients.

There are also nurses, both those who are registered to a patient and will monitor and supervise their assigned patient as well as provide nursing care and licensed nurses who provide basic medical and nursing care. Patient care technicians, otherwise known as nurse aids, help nurses with the care of patients which may include assisting the movement of a patient.

There are also physical the******s and occupational the******s, both of which share similar duties, relating to the assessment, treatments and assisting of patient’s movements in patients that may struggle, such as a patient recovering from a stroke.

Respiratory the******s work alongside doctors and nurses to treat patients, assisting in diagnosing and treating conditions or disorders that relate to the respiratory system, which pertains to the conditions of the lungs and if the patient has trouble breathing.

Pharmacists within the hospital specialise in how drugs function as well as interact with other medications and specific foods. Hospital pharmacists oversee and supervise the use of medications in the hospital as well as potentially teach patients how to safely and most effectively take their prescribed medication.

Additionally, in hospitals there will be an assigned rapid response team, which are teams of designated hospital staffs, often comprised of a nurse, physician, respiratory the****** and may include additional roles. These teams will quickly attend to a patient’s room if there are abnormal vital signs, potential signs of stroke, struggles with a respiratory process or the deterioration of a patient’s condition.

Do you acknowledge that you’re subject to being demoted at any given time if accepted?

Masuyo’s father, Takehiko Hashimoto, passed away before Masuyo’s birth.

Masuyo looked up to her mother strongly, seeing her as one, if not the best motherly figure she could ask for, despite her lack of presence at home most times of the day, Megumi deeply cared for Masuyo, providing means for the two of them to live comfortably. Megumi often told bedtime stories of her workdays to Masuyo, sparking Masuyo to have awe and hold great value in the type of work her mother was involved in, being taught from a young age that medical practices had the power to change the world.

Masuyo attended school with little difficulty, achieving a near perfect attendance with the help of her extended family members, primarily under the care of her aunties and uncles when her mother was unable, her extended family having a strong bond with Megumi and her only child, Masuyo. Growing up under the care of several family members led Masuyo to see her extended family as parental figures alongside her mother. Years of intensive study passed, Masuyo dedicating herself sincerely to her university studies, maintaining a positive connection with her professors, not being afraid to ask for help throughout her courses. Masuyo graduated with a PhD in Medical Science, much to the delight of herself, her family and friends. From there, Masuyo was accepted into residency at the University of Tsukuba Hospital, devoted to residential placements she was placed in, still living with her mother at the time, the two of them supporting each other.

Unfortunately, when Masuyo was 36, her mother passed away from stage 4 undiagnosed cancer. Masuyo attended her funeral, deeply grieving her passing and giving a heartfelt speech in remembrance of her mother that she had grown to love so dearly, receiving comforting words from her extended family.

After coming to terms with her situation and with the understandings and blessings of her extended family, Masuyo saw an opportunity to travel, wanting to honour her mother’s passing by extending her own reaches of aiding communities, feeling her own mother’s death was preventable, had her terminal condition been identified and diagnosed earlier and Megumi had received treatment. Masuyo set her sights on a more remote location than her home city, somewhere that wouldn’t have the same medical reaches and availability as Tsukuba city.

Masuyo found herself researching the residential areas of the Izu archipelago, distancing herself from mainland Japan, and learned of the island city of Karakura. Masuyo adored the suburban and rural mixes of the city that reminded her of Tsukuba. Masuyo found herself seeking a spot on the roster of Karakura Hospital as a surgeon, reflecting her previous experiences, studies and practices.

How does your character act on and off duty?
While on duty, Masuyo is reserved with full focus on her work, prioritising hospital duties and not being one for casual conversation unless it was related to the work at hand. Masuyo strives to maintain an image of professionalism in attending to her duties first and foremost. Off duty, Masuyo relaxes and is more responsive to socialising, but still remains introverted, showing kindness to her co-workers and enjoying the sight of the gardens that surround the hospital.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Masuyo is able to work independently and within a group, though she prefers functioning and working alongside a team, as being able to communicate with a team allows her to have an outside perspective on the way in which she conducts herself, as well as provide insights she might not otherwise conceive. Masuyo also finds functioning in a group to be more efficient, many hands making light work, especially if there are multiple cases to attend to.

What plans does your character have for the future?
Masuyo has aspirations to further find her place in Karakura’s welcoming community, desiring to continue her work for the foreseeable future in order to give back to said community. She has some aspirations of potentially starting a family, but currently remains unsure of the concept.

Masuyo is perceived as a kind and thoughtful individual, someone who is willing to put her all into her job and the work she does, dedicating her life and committing to what she sets out to do. This does not inherently contrast or collide with her perception of herself, as she sees herself as someone who devotes themselves and does the best in all that they do. Beyond her work, Masuyo sees herself as a calm and collected lover of the natural world, spending most of her time in areas with plenty of greenery.
