DESCRIPTION: An ****gesic and antipyretic drug (pain and fever) used for temporary relief of pain, such as for cuts, abrasions, concussions, and so on. As the lowest tier of pain medication, paracetamol does not require a prescription and can be sold by any staff member.
SIDE EFFECTS: Adverse symptoms resulting from paracetamol use are unusual, but a small percentage of the population may experience an allergic reaction. Advise the patient to seek medical care if they experience rash, swelling, or persisting fever.

ASPIRIN [Doctor]
DESCRIPTION: Prescription aspirin is a versatile drug, functional as a moderate tier of medication. If a patient undergoes a serious injury, such as a broken or dislocated limb, or paracetamol is not enough to reduce their pain, an aspirin prescription should be written for them with dosage instructions. Aspirin’s additional qualities of efficiency against fever and swelling make it most effective in treating physical injury, but it can also be used in preventing heart attack, stroke, and treating arthritis.
SIDE EFFECTS: Aspirin may have temporary symptoms, such as vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, and/or nausea. These are common and do not require repeat visits unless they persist after use has stopped. However, if the patient experiences hives, rash, internal bleeding, difficulty breathing, or other severe symptoms, provide medical aid immediately.

TRAMADOL[Doctor]
DESCRIPTION: A synthetic opioid medication, usually used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe pain. It is the first step after Aspirin and before Hydrocodone, most commonly prescribed when Aspirin does not seem to be making an effect. It works by interrupting the way nerves signal pain, which reduces feelings of pain.
SIDE EFFECTS: Common side effects of Tramadol include sleepiness, constipation, sweating, fatigue, headache, dry mouth, and vomiting. A more life-threatening side effect includes breathing problems, which has a higher risk of occurring in older patients or those that have existing lung problems.

HYDROCODONE [Doctor]
DESCRIPTION: The highest tier of pain medication, hydrocodone is a highly addictive opioid. It has a similar potency to morphine and is one of the most commonly misused drugs still prescribed to modern patients. Hydrocodone is prescribed in circumstances when prescription aspirin has proved to be persistently inefficient.
SIDE EFFECTS: Hydrocodone is a depressant, and continued usage heavily strains the respiratory system. In combination with alcohol, it may lead to respiratory arrest. Adverse symptoms include bladder pain, distressed breathing, unusual fatigue, and tingling of the hands and feet.

CLARITHROMYCIN [Doctor]
DESCRIPTION: Clarithromycin, an antibiotic belonging to the macrolides group, is a medication capable of treating a range of infections, such as chest infections (pneumonia), cellulitis, and ear infections. In order to do so, the antibiotic prevents and stops the growth of the bacteria. It is important to note that Clarithromycin cannot treat viral infections. DESCRIPTION: Oseltamivir is a medication that treats and stops the spread of influenza infections in individuals who had symptoms of the flu for longer than 2 days by attacking the flu virus. It may be used to prevent the flu in individuals who have spent time with someone else with the flu or if there is an outbreak going on. It can help shorten the time of flu symptoms and does not prevent bacterial infections.

DESCRIPTION: Carbamazepine is an anticonvulsant medication that is commonly used to control seizures/epilepsy by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. DESCRIPTION: Januvia is a prescription medication used to treat type two diabetes, alongside diet and lifestyle. SIDE EFFECTS: Most of the side effects of Januvia are mild, resolving themselves.
