Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers play a vital role within SchoolRP. They not only shape the structure of the school but also change the experience of the players within it. Their responsibilities are further than just teaching subjects. The Teachers, Professors, and Caretakers all help instill valuable skills, attitudes, and a sense of directions that students carry with them as they play the server. More than often, Teacher's are the first to have an interaction with new students. This is important because it could greatly impact their first impression on the server.

Beyond the classroom, teachers also inspire players to get more involved. This could be learning new languages, applying for different in-character jobs, or even joining factions. A school without teachers would seem very hollow and unrealistic. Teachers are authority figures responsible not only for education but also for maintaining order and discipline. They help enforce rules and steer away disruptive behavior.

Without teachers, the school would lose more than just classes or lessons. The school would lose its structure and purpose. Without guidance, the school would have disorder, and possibly fall into chaos. In many ways, teachers would be the backbone of SRP. They help shape the school and also the future of the characters who walk through the halls.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?:
Yes

Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?:
Yes

What's your character's full name?:
Haru Kagami
What is your character's nationality?:
Japanese
What is your preferred subject to teach?:
Physical Education

Describe your character:
Haru Kagami would stand at around 5'10" with a lean and athletic build. He would carry himself with a natural confidence. His time in the United States Marine Corps shaped him more than just physically. There is quite a bit of strength to him, but it would be balanced out with an energy that is anything but stiff.

His hair would be jet black and a little wild. it would be always falling into his eyes just enough to make him look like he is constantly just come from a wind storm. It's a bit longer than it used to be, but he likes it that way. He tucks his hair behind one ear but their is usually a few strands that fail to comply. His eyes are a cool gray and blue. They are sharp and observant, but they're quick to light up when he is joking around. Haru loves to laugh, especially when he cracks one of his jokes and gets his whole classroom laughing.

Haru is unique because of his blend of experiences throughout his life. He has been through the rigor of military training discipline but does not let it define him as a person. His time in the United States Marine Corps shaped him as a person. He has a sense of duty and work ethic. But that doesnt take away his ability to be fun, approachable, and energetic.
What sets him apart from others is his ability to connect with others. He knows when he should be serious, and when to be as well. However, he is always filling the room with energy.

Haru is not someone who attempts to hide behind a perfect image. Whether it's his messy hair or how he'll casually toss out goofy comments in the middle of his lecture. He never tries too hard to impress others. He is unapologetically himself. He has seen tough times but he still has a soft spot for smaller things in life. This could be smiling at someone or helping their day get just a little better.

Haru's plans for the future are to create meaningful connections with his students in the classroom and inspire them to attempt to achieve and better themselves both in and out of the classroom. Seeing how he has experienced a tough life in his past, he finds it important to show others it is important to have purpose and direction. But as a teacher, Haru is committed to helping foster his students into following their passions.

Further along in his career, Haru could see himself continuing to grow as a teacher and possibly even taking on a leadership role in the educational system. He would like to be the kind of teacher who can help shape the futureby creating positive impacts on not only his student, but other teachers as well. For his students though, he would like to help them build confidence and resilience for whatever life throws at them.

Aside from his career, Haru would like to maintain a healthy work-life balance. While he may be driven, he knows the importance of taking time for himself. For Haru, this could be traveling, hiking, and reconnecting with old friends. He believes in the idea that indulging in hobbies is a good life goal when you need to relax. He has yet to rule out going on more adventures. This could include returning to the U.S one day and helping veterans transition from military life back to civilian life.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
When it comes to Haru's students, he would see them as not just kids who need to learn but he sees them as genuine people. He knows that each student has their own struggles, stories, and potential. He would never expect perfection from his students. And he would never demand blind respect. He expects to earn his students respect by being genuine. Haru believes that all students have something valuable to offer even if they haven't figured that out yet. He wants his students to feel like they matter. He wants them to understand that their voices matter. He would like to have fun in the classroom without losing structure. He is especially good with students who have tendencies to fall through the cracks. This is the quiet students or the trouble makers. These students are often written off by others. And he sees himself in them sometimes. And so he tries to be the kind of teacher he wishes he had when he was younger.

With co-workers, Haru is easy to get along with. He is friendly, approachable, and always willing to lend a hand. He keeps things light and respectful. Haru genuinely believes that good collaboration comes from mutual respect and honesty. He loves to bring a little humor to any staff meetings and support other teachers who might need some help. He is the type of person who brings coffee for the team without being asked. He also loves to remember little details about people's lives. This is not because he has to do it. This is because he cares about others.

What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
What drives Haru is his belief that education is the most powerful tool for change. This is meant to be taken not just academically, but emotionally and mentally. He would like to be the kind of teacher who notices when one of his students is off. He doesn't want to just only teach from a textbook. He would like to teach in a way where students can learn about themselves too. If he can make one kid feel seen or understood then it would be worth it. Haru also just genuinely loves teaching. He loves the energy of the classroom, the laughter, and sometimes even the chaos. Every day is different when teaching a classroom. That unpredictability of the classroom is refreshing for him after his life in the military. He can help others become better. It's important to him to believe that he can help others achieve more and succeed. He would like to believe that teaching is the perfect opportunity where he could allow himself to change peoples lives. And possibly teaching could teach him a few things as well. Changing his own life in the process.

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Haru would not call the student out in front of the whole class. He may tease students and pick on them a bit in a friendly manner sometimes. But if he saw a student genuinely struggling to understand the contents of his class he would approach them later on during a quiet moment. He would quietly ask them how they were feeling with the contents of the class, and if they needed help with anything. A good example would be as follows. "Hey, you looked a little confused in class earlier. Would you want to walk through it together?"

He wants to approach them by being personal and encouraging them. He could rewrite the material taught in class to help it make sense to that student. He could also use real life examples to help make it click. He could often use different methods to help eventually make that students face light up with understanding.

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Haru would not immediately crack down on the student with harsh discipline. He believes that some students use this type of behavior as a disguise to cope with personal issues from either at home or at school. During class, he would probably be direct with them. He would intentionally keep it light hearted but firm. Something like this would be as follows.
" Alright comedian, save that one for after the lesson. Let's lock in for a bit."

If this behavior continued, he wouldn't make a scene. He would simply state to the class to start doing some self studying. During this time, he would approach the student and ask them what was going on. He understands that sometimes students get bored, confused, or they're just dealing with other issues outside of school. So instead of jumping straight into the punishment, he would listen first. Personal correction is a key factor in changing a student or young adult's behaviors. Rather than working against them, you're working with them to fix the issue.

Haru will draw a line if needed. If the behavior continues or becomes disruptive, he will be clear and direct with his students.
An example of this would be
"I respect your energy, but right now you are taking away your peers' opportunity to learn. If you continue, I will not hesitate to give you detention."

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
As a physical education teacher, Haru would implement a Track & Field day. During this track & field, students would participate in timed sprints, relays, and long jump challenges. This would give students the opportunity to either upgrade their speed and acrobatics, or show them off. This method would also give students the opportunity to compete in a friendly and fun setting.

The other interactive class Haru would implement would be a Volleyball practice and Mini Tournament. Haru would teach his students how to play Volleyball, and the basic flow of the game. They would start with drills to practice moevement and teamwork. This would then be followed by a friendly tournament. This lesson would promote communication and strategy, which would be essential elements of Physicial education that could translate well into their every day lives.

One more interactive class idea would be to teach the students in his class how to stretch properly. This would consist of pushing the students properly DetailRP. He would go around grading them on how well they were able to stretch as if they were about to work out/do physical activities. Not only is DetailRP an important part of SchoolRP, stretching is an important/crucial portion of before or after a work-out/physical activity.
