Why should you become a club leader over other applicants, what abilities or ideas do you have that could benefit the club you'll be in charge of?

I was the one who started the recruitment to find other like-minded and interested players for this club. I believe that I have the leadership skills to guide the club away from troubles and to flourish, which the aim of the club is to spread Japanese cultural knowledge to others. I am not Japanese, but I am Chinese. Even still, translating Japanese ideas to Chinese retains a lot more core ideas and I can relay these to club members and others to understand and learn about it better. My ideas for the club mostly ties to the school itself to hold events and to also work with other clubs as well.

CLUB INFORMATION

What is the official title of the Club: Japanese Culture Club

What is your motivation for creating this club:
(150 Words)

The original thought of the club was just Kendo only at first. Kendo can help to practice order and offer a safe and non-lethal way for people to take a hand on combat rp aside from GangRP. Eventually I figured out in strength it is also just as important for others to have a calm mind though, and there is a significant lack of Japanese cultural knowledge on the server. Therefore the whole club is to spread Japanese culture, help with changing the atmosphere of the school and to invigorate club guided events by working with other clubs. By promoting a culture that focuses a lot on calm activities and mindset, hopefully more can focus on SRP, have better knowledge of RP etiquette and in general know and learn more about Japanese culture.

What activities could your club do?:
(Work out one club members only activity & one school club event)

For club members only activity, one example would be to practice Japanese Waka poetry. Club members can gather in the club room and perform the poems they have either prepared or thought up on the spot and have others to enjoy it. Another example would be to hold tea ceremonies. Members can get a feeling of a tea ceremony (which would be rped out and simplified because the traditional tea ceremony is complex and lengthy).

For school club events, an example would be Kendo exhibition matches for the others to enjoy and for club members to practice improv roleplay. Another event that might be worth doing is a school trip to the monastery and shrines in Karakura. This can prove effective for other people to understand Japanese culture better. Lastly, the club could either hold exhibitions of arts on our own or to collaborate with other clubs in the school.

Overall, all activities would be related to
Ikebana (Flower Arranging)
Chado (Tea Ceremony)
Kado (Poetry)
Shodo (Calligraphy)
Kendo (Swordsmanship)
Geido (Way of Performing and General Arts)
Kodo (Art of Japanese Incense)
Kido (Chess, in this case however, specifically, is Go chess)

How could your club benefit the School?:

As written above, the Japanese Culture Club can spread Japanese culture, help with changing the atmosphere of the school and invigorate club guided events by working with other clubs. As the school in the lore is based in Japan, promoting Japanese culture fits the school's geographic information. In addition, Japanese culture is broad in many aspects and therefore has a wide range of topics to choose from for event planning. This could help deepen the connections between students of different clubs and possibly make more friends. This unlocks more roleplay situations on a more personal level for members of various clubs. Club members can also learn a lot about Japanese culture and can roleplay outside of the usual schoolrp setting, thus adding a variety to the usual, such as class rp and Gang rp. The club itself is also rather strict in its rules, and this can train one in their discipline and understand Japanese proper mannerisms to help rp.

How would your club use the club room the club will be assigned?

The club room will be the gathering place for club members to carry out club-related activities, such as the tea ceremony mentioned above, or to work on Japanese related arts like Waka, Calligraphy, flower arranging, and playing Go chess. These meetings would be done on a weekly basis after 3pm on school days to keep the club running. Therefore, I would like to request that the club room be modelled after a traditional Japanese living room. Another type of meetings would be much more of a meeting, where members discuss event planning for the school and among themselves. While this is possible also in our own Discord server, it would only be an option when the situation is needed to discuss immediately but members could not get onto the Minecraft server. As for the Kendo aspects of the club, we would probably carry out practices on the school rooftop.

What will be the requirements for future members, if any?:

The main requirement for future members are as follows:

Relatively clean record of bans and punishments, with the total number no more than 2.

Character must not be related to Gang RP, eg. Be a part of a gang. If any members are found to have connections to Gangs, their club membership will be revoked immediately.

Members must possess proper roleplay etiquette and be disciplined, especially in Kendo related events, since it does relate to CombatRP. Failure to do so can result in revocation of club membership.

Here are the reasons for the requirements:

  1. To ensure that the members have knowledge of the server rules and are willing to conform to and follow them. We do have a little bit of wiggle room since if the punishment record is no more than two, we would see that as the person is willing to correct themselves and stay on the right path. Our club also demands proper mannerisms due to the nature of traditional Japanese culture, and therefore regular rule breakers, who have lost their credibility and show rebellious characteristics, would not pair well with the aim of our club and thus will not be welcomed.
  2. Since Gang RP is considered illegal in the roleplaying lore and world, as a club that holds itself on proper actions, as well as a club that aims to follow the rules and be a part of SchoolRP, we would NOT tolerate any Gang roleplaying and roleplayers.
  3. Proper etiquette is required because we would like to stay as true as Japanese traditional ideals on how to communicate with others. In addition, our club has Kendo, a CombatRP aspect. To protect our members, the rules must be followed and therefore requires high discipline. This is also to keep our word on “Offering CombatRP in a safe and non-lethal way”.
